The Scavenger stands before striking the butt of his spear against the ground. From this strike a large plume of black smoke emerges as a Fog Cloud is cast upon the room. You all act as if blinded for the duration of the spell.
hey guys, thought I'd set the scene a little better.
The room, which is about 30x40 in size, has filled with a dark smoke. Everyone, including The Scavenger take the blinded condition (disadvantage on attacks and automatic fail on any sight based checks). From where you are it appears to have engulfed you completely, I would actually like to try a homebrew mechanic if you don't mind.
Should you decide to leave the smoke, roll 1d4 to see which direction you go.
1 is back through the door way
2 is straight into the room
3 is left toward the wall
4 is right toward the wall
Thought we could try something a little different, if you don't like it then we don't have to do it, but I thought it might make the spell a little more fun. As written it seems a little underwhelming, you are supposed to be completely blind after all. haha.

Sounds fun. As is, the spell isn't doing much, since being blinded means that attacks against you have advantage, too, meaning everyone basically attacks normally :D. Adding a little something like this could be fun.
I have been thinking. I would think that making an attack roll against The Scavenger would be impossible, as sight based perception checks are impossible when blinded.
Also, I would like to try the 1d4 direction idea...
What do you think?
Also, posts may be spotty as I am going out of town this weekend!

Well, according to the rules, attacking an enemy you don't see is possible, you just do it with disadvantage as long as you know basically where they are. However, attackers that you can't see have advantage on attack rolls against you, which is why Raui (who knew basically where the Scavenger was: right in front of him) had normal attacks against him.
Of course, if you want to change a rule, it's your call as DM. Just please do let us know, first! :)
Here is my ruling: Attack as you normally would with the blinded condition (Disadvantage) for this round, since you know that he is right in front of Raui. Next round might be different though.... you never know what an enemy will do!
Also, lets try the 1d4 thing. So to review; to leave the smoke roll a 1d4 to see which direction you go. 1 forward toward the where the scavenger was, 2 backward through the door way, 3 toward the left wall, 4 toward the right wall.
If that sounds good with everyone lets continue!
Raui swinging blindly in the dark fog misses completely with his first strike, but thinks he feels something solid connect with the second.
Tamba closes his eyes (he has no use for them anyway), and lets the earth kami guide him on the correct path.
Direction: 3
Reaching the left wall, Tamba yells and insult at the Scavenger, hoping for a reaction, in which case he will fire an arrow at the source of the sound.
If The Scavenger responds, shortbow attack: Attack: 9 Damage: 3
You scatter through out the room. Completely lost. You hear the light shuffling of feet, but are unable to see anything. As far as you know, you are alone with the fog. It begins to thin but only slightly. You get the impression that it will be there for a while, but will eventually dissipate on its own....
A) I suck at throwing daggers
B) the Scavenger is prone FYI (just as a reminder for when it's his/her turn)

Inspired by Taleisin, Raui blindly swings and kicks at the Scavenger before moving out of his reach in the obscuring fog.
Attack: 12 Damage: 10
Attack: 21 Damage: 4
I rolled with disadvantage on that first attack, but I shouldn't have, since the Scavenger can't see Raui either.
And that's all I have to say about that.
That first attack was a 24 to hit

I am indifferent to which ever decision the group agrees upon.
Can I throw my crowbar at him?

I'll let you add the hit mod to the attack and roll the damage for it.
3
And that's all I have to say about that.
Raui runs over to the wall and kicks it, hard.
Attack: 18
Damage: 7
