Elric wakes from his slumber and checks the list of the ingredients they seek:
hair follicle of ant (alive)
hair follicle of aphid (alive)
field mouse toenail (alive)
Freshly woven silk of a spider (alive)
"Hmmm, we missed a chance to get ant hair back there, maybe we'll find a mouse nearby of there are owls. Shall we do a patrol around the area looking for signs of them? We might even be able talk them into giving us a toenail?"
"These you mean." Horkur holds out several large ant hairs from the last day's initial skirmish. "They weren't quite alive anymore when I cut them off, for obvious reasons, but I grabbed as many as I could so hopefully it will do... If it even matters.. This whole thing may have been a ploy!"
Nemi, you're able to do some scouting, and it is apparent that even this quiet peaceful shady area is teeming with life:
There's a spider web low down in a "small" clump of weeds (like a small copse at your size) not far from the tree to the West.
You've also detected some ant tracks, a fair amount of them were moving single file in an East-West direction just North of your position. I imagine you're at about 11 o'clock position around the tree trunk of the great oak, if that makes sense (just to the left of pure North side).
You've also detected the tracks of a field mouse running in a SW direction.
There are also some squirrel tracks but it would seem that those have gone up the tree where you cannot track them further.
Horkur, all is still as Nemi scouts around. But eventually you realize you can hear, faintly faintly way above you, the droning buzz of bees. The sound is steady, not increasing or decreasing.
"Hey Nemi, I think we should make this quick and head in a direction not teeming with flowers, I can hear our buzzing friends above.. Where do you want to go?"
You approach the webbed weed patch. Up close the webs look like sticky ropes, and they’re everywhere, making quite a latticework on the weeds. With some searching you can spot the spider, about as big as one of you, standing motionless from a vantage point high in the weeds, about 15 feet up. The spider appears to be furry, gray in color, no distinct markings. It’s hard to say if it’s watching you or not, the eyes are not positioned in a manner you’re accustomed to.

Nemi nods to Elric's offer of charm or speaking to it and quietly notes the presence of the spider to any that have not seen. She considers its features and tries to recall if it's a poisonous sort or not. @dm just in case you need again - survival25 (doubled bonus as favored terrain and wisdom skill)
It’s not poisonous, it’s just a garden variety spider, sometimes commonly referred to as an orb spider. It likely depends on its webs for its food and wouldn’t be excited about a direct confrontation.
Elric approaches the spider, careful not to trigger any web strands. At first he casts a charm spell to convince the spider that he is not hostile (WIS save DC14).
Then, he imbues himself with the ability to converse with the spider and says: "Ah my fine friend, what a marvellous web. Might I take a single strand please, if it pleases you?"
The spider rolled 15-2 (wisdom score of 7) so 13, and becomes magically enamored by Elric.
Orbie becomes curious instead of apprehensive, taking a few steps forward from its perch. She quivers with delight at your compliment and makes strange clicking noises with its mandibles that Elric understands to essentially mean:
Thank you, I worked hard on it. You may take, I make more.
Elric's face lights up with innocent glee: "Oh thank you friendly spider! I shall be super careful with your marvelous web"
Elric is as dainty as possible as he pulls a single strand of web from an area that he thinks will be easy for Orbie to replace, then places it in a pouch of its own on his belt so that it won't stick to his other possessions.
Heading back to the others with a spring in his step, the cleric says with a wide grin "Tick!"

Nemi beams at the interesting encounter pleased that neither party came to harm. She pats the cleric on the back, perhaps less than gently due to her bulk and congratulates him. "Splendid work, I couldn't have imagined a more perfect outcome." Adding in a whisper, "Now let's hasten off before your charm wears off."
She studies the ground a bit and starts moving in a southerly direction hoping to pick up the mouse tracks again recalling that they were moving in a SW direction from the tree and they've moved a little west. nature19
Nemi is eventually able to find the field mouse tracks, which lead away from the tree, towards the cottage, and then down a hole in the ground. At your normal size the hole would have been invisible at the base of a clump of grass and weeds, but at your size the hole is obvious. It gapes like a cave, just large enough for you to fit down single-file.

Nemi eyes the ground around them and tries to spot the tracks of any of the creatures listed. survival 24
note as Ranger has natural explorer...while tracking creatures, you learn the exact number, sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.
"Could you all cover me while I look for a trail?" Nemi asks as she steps out from under cover in her search once morning light hits.
Horkur draws his short swords and takes any elevation position close to Nemi to keep watch.

Nemi shares her findings with the rest of the group and gestures towards the spider's web, let's try this way and heads west from the tree cautiously.

"Huh" says Elric, dumbfounded. "I guess I missed that. Bravo my friend, let's hope it's up to Rezlin's needs"
Once Nemi locates the spider web, Elric stands nearby ready to help. "I can try to charm the creature, or speak to it even?"
"Sounds like a plan." Horkur pulls his hand-axes from their sheaths. "Plan B" he thinks.

"Now that's a nice trick I'd like to learn sometime! Tis a good thing you got a thing for spiders! Now hopefully the mouse will be as kind!"
Horkur keeps his weapons drawn and hurries along behind, staying attentive above, behind, and around.
I am sure you would use Passive Perception, however as he is actively scanning his surroundings I assumed a Perception role is in order:

He starts to head down the 'cave' entrance, then stops: "Oh, I can't see too well in the dark. Anyone mind if I light a torch?"
