HELLO EVERYONE. So, Purple will be welcome to wake up as soon as they are able in real life. In future instances, I might take more direct control of a player’s character, but this was a convenient narrative tool to be sure. Needless to say if the parade gets too far in front of Esi we’ll think of something more logical to do with them.
in the meantime I am about to post the first post which will require rolls. I’ve though quite hard about how I’d like to handle this. The last time I tried to post another thread relating to the roleplay, it flagged me for spamming. As such I’m avoiding creating another if I can.
If I REQUEST rolls from you in my post, please reply with the result of those rolls (your total, you don’t need to include modifiers or effects) at the beginning of your post BEFORE any narration.
So if I ask someone for a perception check, they should simply tell me 16 if the roll was a 13 and their perception has a +3.
then after you write out your actions and narrations in character you may list any applicable rolls such as attack and even damage rolls in parentheses at the end of the post. Any discussion about those rolls or their results, if they hit and do damage, esc with be handled in the out of character chat.
Please ask any questions now before proceeding with roleplay. Thankyou!
Also, everyone please let me know if I was too long winded in that last post, this is a bit of a learning experience for me as well. I’m not used to use DnD mechanics, but rather just writing free form with no numbers. That can become cumbersome due to meta gaming and a lack of clear boundaries which can be controlled by the DM. Which is why I’ve come to the DND forums instead of the straight roleplay ones. I hope you’ll excuse the uncouth approach to what I’m sure is an already-figured out system.

In addition, if I want to shoot a Bokoblin with a longbow, I should simply declare it in my post and then list
(ATK 20, DMG 9) and then wait to be told if that is successful.
forgive me for being unclear, I would like you all to describe your characters actions before I address those last perception checks. Keep those rolls though.

I edited my previous post to include a full action.
Ok, I kind of assumed you had something specific we were supposed to be watching for. I also added a stealth and cartography check.
Unless I specifically state something within your “section” of one of my posts, your character doesn’t see it. In that way, everything I tell you is what you should be watching for.
So if Potato and Dndlover don’t answer me by tonight, I’ll be moving on with the given scenes without them. Thankyou for everyone who is being patient through this startup process.
Both will be welcome to continue playing with us should they communicate by tomorrow, but I do have a two strike policy. Fool me once, shame on you. Twice, shame on me. There will be no third strikes without a good explanation. Of course, as my players become more tenured I may become more lax with some if they’ve shown they are devoted to playing with us.
In the event that they do drop out I will look into bringing in a fourth member to the party. Any questions?
Good afternoon my remaining three players. I hope you will not be too discouraged by this little delay we’ve had. To the contrary, I find it refreshing to cut through the less interested players until I have a core group of people who want to be here! Nothing against our two former members personally, it is simply the way forum roleplay is. I’ll be reopening the interest check for another member to fill the gap, and after I get off of work tonight I will throw up what you all uncovered with those perception check! HUZZAH FOR PERCEPTION CHECKS!!!
Hey you two, I appreciate the enthusiasm, but in the future allow me to post my full reply to all characters before moving on with the next turn.
in addition, @ElderCarr please include all of your rolls and numbers at the bottom of your post, not peppered throughout your paragraphs. Lastly, please refrain from using videogames or mechanics references in your move explanation as much as possible. Again, I’d like it to read as a semi-serious story all the way throughout from the perspective of the characters, the way they are experiencing things. Link wouldn’t know what a Z Target is, get what I’m saying?
Hey Gregor, quick table question. When you give us a damage roll against us. Has that factored in resistances and things or should we manage that?
Definitely manage that on your own, I forgot you had any at such a low level. Also, back at ya, Garvii is in the air currently, right?
Okay sounds good. Raging has weapon resistances.
and yeah he’s definitely mid air jump probably on his way down to where he would kick off again into a dashing attack.
Im picturing these attack patterns as mid air during the attack and then touching down at the start of his turns.
I hear you. Good explanation, Thankyou. With smaller weaponry such as the boomerang, I’m going to say Garvii could use them mid-flight. Only when drawing his greatsword would he have to land. Capish?

Thankyou for the edits, both of you
So Conmin is the only one who we’re waiting on aside from Esi. Good show, all

Please be aware I am headed to a family reunion tomorrow. I should have internet but I am not sure how reliable it will be.
No worries, thanks for the communication

My apologies to Stefic, bedtime has crept up on me quicker than expected. I’ll have your point of view post out in the morning.
