Looks like we have all the bets and equipment let's kick off the next fight.
You all walk through the portal into the sun and roar of the Crowd. Casey's performance has the crowd pumped as you hear them starting to chant. LAST COPPER LAST COPPER LAST COPPER
You are directed to the center of the arena. The arena has 4 pillars 1 in each direction. On top of each pillar you see a contraption. Casey you know it's a cannon of some type but not like the ones your use to.
Dan: Settle down Settle down. These guys are great but let's bring out the Mistress of Death, the Goddess of Death, the Creator of Devastation. Glasscia Cannonnnnnnnn. A Female Elf dressed in a steam punk style outfit walks out of a gold portal to the sounds of cannon fire. She is flanked by 3 gladiators gleaming in clockwork armor.
She pulls out a pistol and shoots sparks into the area that turns into hearts.
Anio and Kileprat you recognize her as the reporter from the first 2 rounds.
GC: Hello dears. Good to see you again. But alas now I'm to be the creator of your demise.
(OOC: Sorry been busy most of the weekend and with work... and now I need to take my kiddo trick-or-treating... he's probably old enough to do it by himself but it's fun to hang out with him while he still lets me so I'll take the opportunity while I can!)
Bladesingers do not get extra attack until level 6, BUT Booming Blade scales up to 1d8 direct thunder damage and 2d8 on subsequent move. Green Flame Blade scales to 1d8 direct fire damage and 1d8+5 to adjacent separate enemy. And of course 3rd level spells...
(OOC: Back from trick-or-treating - my son is happy so it was a success!)
Couple things Aino is going to be looking for (but doesn't want to spend her turn looking for): - Do the three gladiators appear to be constructs? Or flesh and blood humanoids? - Do the contraptions on the pillars appear to be physical/corporeal (and hopefully capable of taking damage), or spectral/illusory?
Let me know if she needs to roll anything, though as I said, if it's going to take her action, then she wouldn't do it.
Ok to answer some questions. With your passive, gladiators are human looking, the Cannons look real, Aino might have seen cannons from a distance they are not very common.
(Ok, in the spirit of Halloween, let's try this... @DM, let me know if this sounds unrealistic as stated and I can revise.)
With her bladesong already started, Aino has 40' movement.
A small hen feather in hand, she casts Fear. 30' cone, so 1 square in front of her, then 2 squares, then 3, out to 6 squares 30' away. Since the gladiators and GC were all 30' away to start, Aino is hoping she can get all of them in the area of effect. (Making sure no party members are in front of her).
She projects herself as a phantasmal image of every targeted creature's worst nightmare. DC 16 WIS Save. While affected, each creature must: 1. Be subject to the frightened: disadvantage on attacks and checks while in line of sight to Aino, and can't move closer to her. 2. Immediately drop whatever they are holding, including weapons and magic items etc. 3. MUST USE UP THEIR ACTION to dashdirectly away from Aino. (No stepping sideways to hide behind a pillar). 4. Note again - this is their action. They can't take other actions (unless they are bonus actions I suppose?). 5. Continue to do so! No further saves allowed once affected while they have line of sight to Aino. (Can't avoid by just closing eyes or turning head). 6. Can only re-make the DC 16 WIS Save when they end their turn with no line of sight to Aino. She is going to try to stay in sight obviously! 7. Duration 1 minute (10 rounds) while Aino maintains concentration on Fear. 8. Finally note that Aino does not have to see the targets of the spell. So GC is potentially also affected if within the area of effect (30' cone).
After that, using her 40' movement, Aino moves around and past the 3 gladiators and where she last saw GC, facing back towards the party from the other side of them. So affected enemies must use their turn to dashaway from her, back towards and past the party, granting attacks of opportunity.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Awesome totally allowed these guys are not very wise but they are brave so will have advantage and since you can't see GC not going to say what happens to her. Going to roll using the mircos cause it was a sweet move.
You cast fear. A large clown appears by the Gladiators. G3 starts to scream and back up dropping his boom Spear and shield. As he is freaking out you sprint around the other side.
G3 turns to run from the clown when he sees you.
Boo!
Unable to stand rhe sight of you he sprints towards the other 3.
OCC: you just ruined my opening rounds lol I hate you but love it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
GC is up.
"You who" from up on the North pillar (behind Aino).
"Take cover boys I've got a explosive statement to make."
G1 and G2 will take cover behind their shields in a turtle formation. Since G3 dropped his shield and ran he can't and will have to save.
She will use a stage action. (Think of it as a legionary action) to fire the north cannon. A large BOOM echos across the field. Everyone make a DC 15 dex. On a pass you take half damage on a fail you take full and are stuned for till the end of the round.
G3 fails with a 6. He gets to the party as the shell explodes over the group tossing him to the ground.
The North glass cannon will shatter. GC will blow a kiss to the crowd before hopping off the pillar. Before hitting the ground she will bonus action misty step to between G1 and G2. She will take the dodge action to end her turn.
Darn it!! Bad luck on the saves (2 of them made it, GC1 and GC2). This is why Aino needs the Arcane Grimoire, +2.
And clearly GC made her save too or was not in the area (maybe atop the pillar) because if she had been affected, she could not have used her action to fire the cannon. (I assume that took an action). At least she is no longer invisible now having cast a Misty Step.
Can the other 3 PCs can take an attack of opportunity on G3 as it dashes by them? Aino could too but her reaction won't reset until her turn, which is a whole round from now, and she wants to save it for Shield or Silvery Barbs.
Aino DEX Save: 25 (success - she takes 21 damage) Aino DC 10 CON Save to keep concentration on Fear: no roll necessary as she has a +11 on CON saves to keep concentration while bladesinging.
Thanks! I always took "safest route" to mean don't fall into obvious lava or acid or a spiked pit, but not necessarily avoiding opportunity attacks.
Also, I noticed that we have different interpretations of Misty Step - which is ok. The description does not spell it out and you're the DM. When I'm DM, Misty Step shifts your position up to 30' but not your velocity. So GC's Misty Step would have teleported her the last 30', but she would still have her speed from the first 30' of the fall. So she would hit the ground and take 3d6 bludgeoning damage and fall prone, barring a high DC Acrobatics check.
DM: seen it mostly your way. the misty step was more for flavor its her moving to and from the pillars is a thing she can do call it a lair action. The action stands as written. As for safest route I can see it your way but usually play it as avoids all known sources of damage.

Dan: So it begins FIGHT.
Please roll Initiative
(OOC: Damn, I knew I should have bought that magic resistance... lol)
Do the 3 gladiators vanish? How far away are they?
Kileprat initiative: 17
They are still there and call it 30 ft close enough to move in one turn

@DM - just to make sure I got it, the 4 pillars have contraptions on them but GC and the gladiators are down at our level, grouped together?
And no, Aino is not planning to cast Fireball...)

Happy Halloween! Oh a glass cannon- an invisible one no less!
Casey initiative 8. Distracted by the roar of the crowd and jealous of the mistress of death title the elf has, Casey's not rhe fastest to get moving.
Storm initiative: 19
Level 5 for Storm means more spells and extra attack.
