"Fire and Ice, huh?"Mizzen questions. "Though I would volunteer to wield it in case no one else wants to step , I highly doubt that I would be able to control such mystical power. I suggest that a person who is knowledgeable in the elements or similar magic of some sort. Preferably a spellcaster, in my opinion."

"Surely it should be kept out of the hands of the priest, if we do not trust him. What about the healer? She seems to have the aptitude and, at least so far, the morals to wield it as safely as we might hope for."

"Well, unfortunately, our scribe with the most knowledge of the occult had to leave us even before the white witch. If you feel unable to be responsible, cousin, which I don't blame you for, it seems Tana or Morseth is likely the most responsible of us who might have some knowledge of how to use the wand. Would either of you feel comfortable with it?"
"That said, I believe our new friend is right," Valor says, nodding at Dru, "It is most likely needed for some further part of this 'test'."
(So more of a high keening wail than a high lonesome sound? I'd love to have a Bill Monroe sighting in Ellesland! Could teach Hotspur a thing or two ;-)

Hotspur will proffer the wand to either Tana or Morseth, whoever feels most worthy. "If whatever is making that wail is looking for this, I definitely don't want to be the one holding it!"
Dru scoffs, “They didn’t leave it for your glory, young noble. It’s more likely a key to something deeper in this tomb.”
Thatch runs a hand through his mess of hair and frowns “Why would they leave a key to solve something deeper in the tomb? It is like keeping the key to your house on the front porch.” He stops and looks off in the distance as the strange sound echoes through the room before turning back to the party. “Where to next? The hallway or the double doors, or do we hunker down here to catch our breath first?”

"It is a test, young Thatch, to see if we are worthy. I doubt it will be as simple as just inserting a key though. I suspect that keening is related to this somehow. Perhaps we should move towards that."
"SInce SIr Dayne has made the choice then lets move on towards the sound" says Morseth. With a torch in hand and the wand in the other he walks towards the sound.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cainneach expresses his apprehension about the wail. "I don't like this. Out in the forest, there are sounds of all varieties and they may sometimes seem to surround you, but it's not like in this dungeon. With careful attention, direction can always be sorted out. How is one to track such a thing in this maze? Twiggy, what do you feel in terms of where we should head next?"Cainneach will do his best to determine where to turn, or where those who have passed before might have travelled.
Twiggy asks the others to be quiet for a moment and attempts to use her senses to get clues about where to go, whether tracks on the ground or noises in the distance.

There are no tracks at all in the light dust covering all the surfaces, there is a very, very faint sound of running water coming from the north passage if she strains her ear.
Placing her ear against the huge double doors Dru is almost certain she can hear a faint slow rythmic sigh of air, perhaps like someone shallow breathing....but she's not sure how far beyond the doors it is....or how she can hear it if its not very, very close...
Dru whispers, "There may be someone or some thing behind the double doors. It sounds like someone breathing. Down the northern passage, i hear water running, though not near."
Hotspur executes a quick bow with a hand flourish. "If I am to be Master of the Key, I wonder who will be Keeper of the Gate?"

As the companions discuss their find there is a faint high keening wail from somewhere far off in the complex....
Outside the room await the huge double doors or the short corridor to the north.
(Does it sound human?)

( Hard to tell.. its quite distant.....maybe....though how a human could be down here is another question.)

Morseth takes the wand " I will hold onto the wand for now. Should we investigate that eerie sound?"

Hotspur steps back out into the main hallway. Does the keening seem to come from behind the double doors, or another direction?

Heading back out the noise trails away but it seems it was coming from somewhere far past the northern passageway.
There are no discernible noises beyond the huge double doors and now all is quiet once more.
Cainneach expresses his apprehension about the wail. "I don't like this.
