Kathra digs into the breakfast and nods to her companions. "I am sure we can hunt if we get tired of tack. There's good game to be found on the mountains. Roast goat is a delight." She becomes businesslike. "We must exercise caution on the mountain. It can be dangerous enough without weird crystals and the like, but I can guide us through the worst of it, I think. The climbing gear will be critical if we end up having to get closer to the peak, but for the most part we should be able to march. We should make for the location where the bodies of the missing guides were found - the avalanche will have ruined any chance of picking up a fresh trail, but there may be something the search party missed. From there, we can plan our next move."
She suddenly remembers the coin from the church. "Mirabel, did the witch know anything about the coin?"
Peren says “Thank you” to Armond and good morning to his new friends, then begins eating. He knows this will be the last good meal for a few days. But is not worried he is used to being out on the road.
He also says to Kathra “we are glad to have you as a guide, I know a lot about the forest but not so much about the mountains”
"It's an ancient druidic symbol of the waning moon. I honestly have no idea what that might have to do with whatever is going on in the mountains. Be on the lookout for old druids, I suppose."
Gavin eats his hot meal in relative silence. He is a bit concerned not knowing what he should be prepared for. “By Tempus grace we shall fight bravely and all make it back here with stories of how we have saved this town from future destruction and desecration. I could not think of a better group of friends to be with me on this journey.”
Gavin thanks Armond for the good food and asks if he has any marks he can make on our map of points of interest seeing how he was one of the last people up there. After that he is ready to go.

Kathra seems puzzled by talk of druids on the mountain. Even though her memory is not particularly good ((or so the dice would have us believe)) when it comes to history, surely an ancient circle of druids would have come up in conversation once or twice.

Careening into his breakfast, Thont offers: "I'll be happy to share the secrets on living on very little physical sustenance." He pauses, "And I've certainly observed many living on little mental sustenance as well."
Thont is positive he just accidentally made a joke.
He offers thanks for the breakfast and readies his pack.
((I also realized I took the Dice Set proficiency but Thont didn't actually own a dice set, so I added that if it's cool. It's not special, and like all of his belongings he's fine losing it and assured he'll come across another one sometime if he's meant to have it.))
Armond points out to Gavin roughly where they found the attacked expedition. He notes that they were a ways off the main trail, likely due to an avalanche pushing them off course.
For Kathra:
It's not too strange, as Druids and their Circles tend to really "get around" in their travels and pilgrimages to find some patch of untamed wilds to call their own. You don't recall any notable ones inhabiting the Storm Horn at any point though, and you can't think of any ancestral stories that featured any either.
((Alright crew, once you are all ready to go, we'll start our hike through the mountains. Just let me know when you all are ready.))

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
((Seems good. That constitutes a quorum and I'm sure Kathra will catch up when they get a chance.))
Gathering your things, you head to the old cave tunnel north of the ruined temple. You pull your coats a little tighter as the cold mountain air funnels through the large rocky tube that cuts through the hillside. Sparing one last glance back at Refuge, you enter in and follow the cave until it opens on the other side. The first day of travel goes well enough. The gear you got from Helpington's is actually really helpful. In the morning you make it to the first avalanche blocking your trail not long after breaking camp. You see ruts in the road from a small cart moving down a less well-worn path to the west, and you follow it for about half a day before coming to the second avalanche site. Looking at your map, this is likely where Armond and his search party found the dead expeditionary group. You can see the reddish-pink stain of blood mixed into the snow in spots and it looks like there has been a bit of digging around the area as well. Smashed remains of a cart are half buried in the snow.

If it looks like a safe place to take a quick break I would like to stop and snack a bit and poke around the cart area. I ask if someone will keep an eye out as we don’t want to be surprised in the same place someone else was ambushed. What do I see? Any left over cargo?
Perception check ((w help if anyone is willing)) 19
Any gear or supplies you can see look to have been either thoroughly picked over or are far too ruined to be of use to anyone anymore. Honestly, what is most odd is what you don't see. While it is very likely that the rescue party fished out some of the bodies of the travelers and brought them back to town for burial, it would be nearly impossible and extremely unlikely that they'd try to dig out the horses as well and drag those corpses down the mountain, yet here you have a smashed cart with no horses and more than enough blood stained snow in the area to give the impression that the cart-team didn't just break free and run off into the night or something.
For Peren:
It's pretty quiet up here on this abandoned trail, but nothing really dangerous seems to be within eye-shot of you.
((For those who wish it, Investigation, Perception, and/or Survival rolls would be helpful, though I'd gladly entertain other skills you may want to use as well.))

Kathra is pleased, at least, that the gear is coming in useful. She looks about the ruins of the cart as well, wondering if a similar coin or some of those weird crystals might still be in the area.
