((Not sent away, but invisible. He'd be getting close to the changeling, but typically to be able to use them to make an attack, "when you take the Attack action, you can forgo one of your own attacks to allow your familiar to make one attack with its reaction." So don't think he can really do anything with his turn.))

Gary's eyes dart from face to face. He's clearly seeing where this conversation is going and not liking the idea of it.
"I'd really like to continue this conversation. You seem like nice people. Sorry about last night."
With that, and as your collective will becomes clear, Gary leaps to his feet, decides to disengage, and effortlessly springs through the still open window in the caravan, running full speed as soon as he hits the ground.
(Party's Up - no acrobatics needed to go through the window, but it will cost half movement to climb through unless you roll a high acrobatics roll - DC 17. Front door is also open).
Knowing this was about to happen, Avaria sprints after the man, calling to her other friends, "At least one of you go out the front door in case he evades me and gets away!"
Acrobatics 19
She flips through the window and speeds after the man, if she reaches him, she pulls back and fist and lands a solid jab across his jaw. (Attack: 23, Dam: 9) After she hits him, she uses her tavern brawler ability to grapple him again.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The invisible K'oshash flies after Gary through the window, keeping pace easily. Jan stumbles by a more conventional route to keep pace as best as she can, mentally prodding K'oshash to peck the shapechanger again.
Attack: 19 Damage: 5 piercing, DC 10 CON Save or 8 poison.

Avaria slip through the window as well as Gary did and that allows her to keep pace with him. She extends her arm at that last second and clips Gary on the side of the head, causing him to stumble enough so that Avaria can wrap him up in a bear hug again.
Now with Gary not moving at all, K'oshash has little apparent trouble pecking Gary.
Unfortunately for Gary, even before his body can react to the poison in his veins he slumps in Avaria's arms, dead.
"... so as I was saying, taking another crack at Hargrove Jr. wouldn't bother me, either. I'm just not sure where it fits on our agenda right now, or if it fits at all."
"Did I mention he offered me a job? If you can believe that. Sheesh."

Avaria drops him as soon as the man dies. She is scratching her head and looking down at the body as Marrin comes running around the caravan. "No... dead isn't what we wanted." she looks up at the bard, "what now?"
(Yes, dead as in minor NPC dead - Raise the Dead would be the spell needed)
Gary's features begin to 'melt' for lack of a better word. Headmaster Noon disappears and an alien like visage appear, lacking most distinguishing features.

Bigge looks at Ethel with a bit of surprise.
"What kind of job?" Bigge asks. "I can't imagine enough coin to make that sound like a good idea."
As Bigge and Ethel talk, they see three black armor clad Brigade members move quickly in the direction the others had gone. They're not running but they're moving faster than Ethel has seen them do so far.
Ethel rolls her eyes. "A standard 'wizard's apprentice' gig. Basically, doing all the chores, busy work and minutia required for higher spellcasting, but which self-important wizards don't wish to be bothered with."
Seeing the three more armed guards race off, she grows less confident in the outcome of the others' mission. "Might be time I went and had a look. I'll be back in time to meet the mayor, don't fret."
She slowly rises from the table and walks off, still appearing like Auntie Whatshername, but movie at Ethel's slightly faster but still addled pace.

The three by the caravans can hear voices approaching. If they're going to do anything they don't want anyone to see, they have seconds to act.

As Ethel turns the corner and heads past the carousel, she can see an archway in a hedge and what appears to be caravan wagon of different colours and designs. The three brigade guards join a fourth already at the archway. They're talking among themselves but stop when the caravan by the carousel opens and a tall, regal figure steps out and moves towards the four guards.
Avaria looks to Martin for what to do next, but seeing he is resigned for what is to come, Ava tenses as she is NOT going into lockup again. "Self defense, right? Anyone have a dagger to throw at him? I mean.. I think he's unarmed at the moment, hard to argue self defense..."

Martin runs around the wagon,
"Crap. Dead isn't what we wanted."
((Is this dead like Npcs on the boat? No reason to waste a spell slot to try and get him back?))

"Ummm... I did just call for the Brigade... whatsa plan?"

"Uh... Well I guess we wait for the Guard?"
Martin watches the change happen with Gary with a sad expression.
"Dumb guy. Maybe we should search his wagon for clues too?"

"They can read our minds. They'll figure out what happened either way, and that we didn't mean to end him. Mostly."
Jan tosses the shortsword on the body.
