Avaria stays in her seat, aggitated to the extreme. She doesn't know what to do as she worries about Jan and what is really going on. She tries to keep her eyes away from the guards so she isn't spotted.
The show continues with a collection of what look to be faerie dragons moving in slow, graceful maneuvers, adjusting their speed and tempo to match the signing mermaid.
K'oshash darts off after Mayor Klein, reporting nothing unusual at this point.
Jan slips back into the tent and notes the two towns guards watching her companions but then one nudges the other and says something that can't be overheard because of the crowd noise. But from the actions that follow, Jan can tell that the guards are scanning the crowd for someone, occasionally looking back at the party. Jan isn't sure if they look panicked or like they're hunting.
Neither guard appears to notice Jan as she gets closer to them. They appear far too interested in looking for someone. They begin circulating through the stands, causing annoyed complaints from any fairgoer who loses sight of the performance below.
"Where'd she go? The rest of them are still there," one of the guards says.
The other looks back to check on the rest of the party and shrugs.
"At least if we find her now, she'll be away from the others. I'd like to get this done and get home early for a change."
Jan will continue tailing them, listening to their tones, cadence and speaking rhythms, trying to apply what she'd practiced with Marrin.
((Essentially trying to get familiar enough to copy one or the other if needed, as per her Actor feat. Also paying attention to appearance, mannerisms, etc.))

As Jan follows the guards through the tent, she gets the distinct impression through their conversation that she's the one they're looking for (if she hadn't already made that conclusion).
The next act looks ready to begin, and as the giant clam shell floats or rolls away into darkness, one of the guards tells the other to "Go get Silas and Rand. We need more eyes. But make sure Finn doesn't see you. She'd tell Mard immediately."
The faerie dragons, glowing streamers attached to their tails, dart about in the air again while the stage is reset, drawing oohs and aahs from the crowd as the petite dragons come perilously close to colliding with each other but never quite touching.
Fiddle music begins in the dark, but a soft light blinks on, illuminating a solitary fiddler at the back of the center ring. Those who ventured into the back area of the tent before recognize this as the jack-of-all-trades satyr who was getting shanghaied into being an acrobat earlier. The music at first seems slightly melancholy, but then two of the faerie dragons dart around the fiddler. As they do, the music increases in both tempo and whimsy, until it achieves jig/square dance levels of speed. At that point eight human clowns, in bright costumes and make up wheel out a large red cannon.
One of them climbs inside, another points the cannon at the crowd, a third lights what appears to be a fuse. The crowd murmurs.
The fuse burns down and disappears. Several people begin to move away. But instead of an explosion, a loud pop echoes above the sound of the fiddle and large bubbles float up out of the cannon. In the middle of the largest bubble sits the clown who had climbed inside the cannon. He floats out over the crowd.
The party can all see that he appears to be miming requests for help and that he's trapped inside. The crowd laughs, with relief, and then cheers.
The remaining guard moves not far from the party, Jan unseen behind them. The other guard leaves the tent.
(She's heard enough that she thinks she could make a decent attempt at it. Nothing is for certain but she's sure she's heard enough to do a decent job).
The clown in the bubble is floating out of Marrin's reach. But when the clown sees Marrin's concern, the clown gives her a friendly wave back, and encourages her to try and get to him.
At the same time, another clown climbs into the cannon and another fuse is lit. The cannon is spun around haphazardly and another pop lets out a second set of bubbles, again with the largest containing a clown. This one floats lower into the cloud, perhaps because of the extra weight this clown appears to carry around their midsection. This second clown bubble heads straight for the one guard and Jan.
As the crowd moves to get out of the way, Jan will need to make another stealth check to avoid getting noticed.
Jan manages to nimbly dodge a few squirming spectators and hold her breath when the guard moves exceptionally close to her.
Unfortunately the guard isn't as nimble and the bubble encased clown bumps right into him. The bubble pops to the sound of piano keys mimicking broken glass, and a collection of bright blue butterflies swoop up into the air. The clown lands on the guard and gives the guard's nose a honk.
Generally the audience is laughing and enjoying the show.
Off to the side, you catch sight of Autumn Noon in tails and a top hat getting ready to enter the ring.
(The seating area is pretty full but Marrin standing up, to possibly pop a bubble, and Avaria and Ula’s sizes have kept people back a little - Jan could get there but straight stealth roll if she wants to do it unnoticed by anyone)
Jan slips through the crowd, whispering as she gets close, "Don't freak out, it's Jan."
"Mayor is wanting to guards to isolate one of us, they've already clocked that I'm missing, and one of them went for backup. Other one is over there...", she points invisibly.
"By where the second bubble clown landed. What do we think of one of you peeling off from the group and me following close to draw off that guard, then the rest of you follow along right behind? Then if who ever is playing bait gets jumped, I've got your back, and the rest are coming soon after? If need be, I can become visible and impersonate one of them."

Jan manages to dodge through the crowd to get closer to the group. The chaos of floating clowns and fiddle music would likely have let a bear pass through unnoticed but Jan’s sure no one knows where she is.
Avaria stays in her seat, aggitated to the extreme. She doesn't know what to do as she worries about Jan and what is really going on. She tries to keep her eyes away from the guards so she isn't spotted.
She finds the mermaid odd.

Is there any closer she can get to try to overhear?
How long has it been at this point since the Mayor departed?

Another stealth roll from Jan please. Less than a minute since the mayor left (say 50 seconds).

Marrin reaches for the bubble weakly and says,
"Great. I can pull off from the group. I'm pretty good at blending into a crowd, or disappearing if I need to."
At that she jumps at the bubble!
