Ethel nods to Jan. "I understand your sentiment. I don't like leaving yet another foe at our back, but we are outnumbered here and the Mayor is more than he seems. That disappearing trick down in the cellar - its not something I'm familiar with. I think retreat is our only option."

Happy to have everyone back together, Avaria shrugs, "I don't care where we go, but we probably should get out of this complex. The tension at the gate is palpable."
As the group gathers together at the doorway, you can all see out in the parade ground the two armed groups squared off against each other. Mard and the lean leader of the mayor’s guards stand a swords length apart, talking angrily at each other.
The gate leading out and to the village proper stands open about 60’ from where you stand in the doorway to the mayor’s council office and home.
There’s still no sign of the mayor.
------------------------------------
Is the group making for the exit to the compound or doing something else?
"Dragon cult? That can't be good. I hate that we lost track of him, kinda want to head back in the morning to take care of it. But I can understand what Ethel is saying..."she trails off in a bit of aggravation as they head towards the gate.
Jan is silently fuming as she follows along, reaching out to K'oshash.
<Stay invisible and in spider form, keep an eye on things here, if the Mayor starts coming after us in force, fly back, invisibly, and let me know. Otherwise I'll call you back for a report when we're ready.>

"Ugh", Jan winces, squeezing her temples. She looks around for that forking Mayor that wants to die. She asks K to fly a lap and check windows and the like for the little bastard.

Avaria hears Ethel and stops in her tracks. She starts shifting with her BA, tail coming out, ears and fangs elongating as the fur on her skin gets thicker. She listens, smells the air and tries her best to see if she can pick up the scent of the mayor.
Perception w/adv: 23
(waiting to see if she gets anything from this before the rest of her action, unless that is her action? then movement..)
Jan can sense that K’oshash is very agitated about not being able to find the mayor. They still have no bead on where he might be. Jan spins around trying to take in every vantage point, window, doorway and the like but sees no sign of the mayor either.
Avaria knows he must be somewhere nearby. If she hadn’t had her arms around him, even for the briefest moment that they were, she’d have no chance of sniffing him out. As it is, the best she can come up with is multiple possibilities - back inside the council house they just exited, a faint odor from the direction of the stables, and a similar odor from the general direction of all the guards.

Avaria can still have movement but that will be her action.

Marrin will start walking in the direction indicated direction.
"Ava? Ethel? Ula? Jan? You hear me?"
"Yeah, yeah.", Jan considers taking on the Mayor's face, but figures it's been enough of a day as it is, and reverts to her own.

((Does Marrin see them?))
((Yes, Marrin has joined up with them - she ran that way and it's impossible to miss them in the open doorway))
"Hey! Great to see you all alive and well. Ula, you here?"
She pauses for Ula to respond.
"Okay, time to go before Mard and company there start stabbing."
She starts moving and says conversationally,
"Oh, fun fact - the mayor is a dragon cultist. You might already have known that, I was surprised."
((If people are actually moving to the exit she'll call to Mard.))
"We're leaving now Mard."
(Safe to assume everyone is moving with Marrin to the gate?)
Eventually Ula pipes up, "Sorry, I waved at first. Here."
(Yep!)
"Dragon cult? That can't be good. I hate that we lost track of him, kinda want to head back in the morning to take care of it. But I can understand what Ethel is saying..." she trails off in a bit of aggravation as they head towards the gate.
"I'm tempted to start another fire, very cathartic fires, but I think it's best to be moving."

K'oshash relays to Jan the impression that they’re sitting on top of the palisade wall and still see no sign of the mayor.
With Marrin leading the way, the group heads for the main gate, while tempers start to flare between the two sets of gaurds.
A slight clink of metal near Avaria lets her know that Ula is still with them.
Jan, distracted by giving directions to K’oshash suddenly hears the word ‘squash’ in her head.
Ethel sees Jan look momentarily confused but then she’s distracted when she hears the word ‘squish’ in her head.
“Stop them,” the leader of the mayor’s guard calls as the party crosses the parade ground.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jan and Ethel, please make a DC14 WIS save or take 10 psychic damage.
Party’s up and they’re about 30’ from the gate, and about 30’ from the spot where the guards have progressed to shoving each other.
