Avaria comes around the side of the manor house and then hears the jingle of chainmail join her as the invisible Ula catches up again (Avaria is about 30' from Jan and Ethel, each at corners of the manor house facing the parade ground - Marrin is on her own about 35' away). The three guards that had avoided Jan originally and had sent Avaria on her way, return around the other side of the manor house, coming again up to where Jan and Ethel are.
"Don't let them leave," the mayor's voice calls down to the guards from above, likely from a window on the second floor of the manor house.
Emboldened by the return of a leader's voice, the three guards look at Jan and Ethel.
"Drop your weapons and come with us."
In the melee in the middle of the parade ground, Mard takes a bad slash across the arm. A guard from each side now lay on the ground, probably dead.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
All three guards wince, the two on the outer edge of the sphere of noise grimacing in pain, but the one in the middle dropping his spear, clasping his hands to his ears, only to lower them a second layer, blood oozing from his ears and collapses, dead.
The two remaining, in obvious pain, seeing that Jan is not coming quietly react with their held attacks, stabbing out at her once each.

K'oshash, not sure what the mayor might look like, just tries to find an open window in the manor house. Unfortunately three windows, curtains mostly drawn, are all open. He hesitates, not sure which one to go in, but eventually sticks his head through one to look around.
(Using pythagorean magic principals, Marrin would estimate the windows are about 15' off the ground and with her being 35' from the building , they're about a straight 38' line from her to the center one, plus about 10' to the left and right for the two other windows)
Avaria hears a whisper from near her ear "Marrin's usually a better singer than that" an invisible Ula says to Avaria, missing that Marrin is doing this on purpose.
Disgusted that she has let herself into a trap with a potent spellcaster employing hit and run tactics against her and her friends, on ground he knows, controls, and can seemingly teleport about freely, she sneers and raises a hand, balled up into a claw to her mouth and whispers dark words. A spectral, skeletal hand tries to grasp one of the two guards previously wounded by Jan's shatter.
Her spell cast, she looks to Mard and his troops. "What's the end game here? Are we beating a tactical retreat, or pressing on for regime change?"

Jan hisses in pain and anger as the two spears find her flesh. She debates recalling K'oshash to support her, but sends to him to keep searching the manor.

Ula's remark makes Avaria smile but then she sees Jan getting hit by spears and she starts running off in that direction. Hearing the mayor's voice makes her stop for a moment, her ire mainly directed towards him, but knowing she couldn't do anything about that now, continues to the ones attacking Jan.
Coming to the one nearest Ava that hit Jan with their spear, she flanks them with Jan and pulls back her fist and punches them. "I told you we aren't coming with you!"
Attack: 21, Dam: 9
She then attempts to grapple them as she wants to know more about this mayor.
Ethel, too distracted by seeing whether the group wants to stand and fight or they want to get out of here fails to guide her spectral hand to the guard. It grasps at air as the guard steps slightly back at the sight of it.
Avaria connects solidly with her punch and then easily grapples the guard, but she's not going to get any answers from this one. It's clear she's hold a dead body in her arms.
Mard calls over to Ethel.
"Why are you still here? Unless you want this to end badly, get out of here. We can only buy you so much time."
The jingle of chainmail announces the arrival of Ula beside Marrin.
"What are we doing?" Ula asks Marrin.
Avaria and Jan both feel a tugging sensation in their minds, like a cloud trying to swirl their thoughts. (DC 14 Wis save from each - failure results in 9 psychic damage and disadvantage on attacks for one turn)
The remaining guard by Avaria and Jan stabs at Jan again (Attack: 9 Damage: 4 )
Another of Mard's men falls to the ground as the melee continues in the middle of the parade ground.
K'oshash noses around in the room they find themselves in. It has only one window. The next window must be to another room. This room has a few barrels and crates inside. A closed door doesn't look to be of much interest, so they head back outside and head towards the next window. That doesn't look to be much use either. They only see Ethel standing there in the shadows.
"OK ladies, we have to make a decision. Our backup is only here to help us get out. We have no idea where the Mayor is, and his magics are foreign to me. I'm out of spells and some of us are hurt. If we are going to leave, we need to leave now. If we don't leave, then we need to commit fully to finding and cornering the Mayor... and I'm not sure we can pull it off. But I'm damn sure we won't pull it off running in circles in this courtyard while the noose tightens around us. One way, or the other... we choose now. I vote we leave."
To impress upon her point, she attempts to grasp the stabbing guard again with her spectral ghost-hand.

Avaria, keeping an eye on the guards that surrounded her, dashes around the house to join back up with her friends.
"Knock it off!", Jan bellows at them in her best sea captain tone, trying to save face that it was a 'warning shot' and not a poor effort on her part.

The air around the vibrates with a ringing sound and they make a DC 14 CON save or take 16 thunder damage.
She directs K'oshash to seek out the source of the Mayor's voice wherever he's hiding.
