The First Mate looks puzzled by Marrin’s comments about unemployment.
“What are you on about?” She asks Marrin.
While the mockery went over her head, Jan’s first slash with her dagger cut into Lozredak’s arm. Lozredak snaps back around, and deflects Jan’s next blow with ease.
Down in the water, Ethel’s very active skeletal necro dealing hand manages to catch hold of the captain’s ankle, leaving a slightly off color mark, that still appears to sting Percival.
“I’m already swinging, you maggot,” the captain says, likely unaware what symbolism even means.
Xanthe drops to the deck, and crawls forward towards the railing. She should move back to the cabin but looking at the mess of the deck, she’s sure she may need to provide more help still.
Bigge hauls in the pole and drops it.
“We’re passed being able to use these, we’re moving.” He says then yells at Hammerdasher to untie two ropes on the opposite side of the deck. “There’s air moving in here. If I can catch some of it, we’re good as gone.”
Bigge moves up to the Quarterdeck and grabs at some other rigging near the wheel.
Hammerdasher ducks low and runs across to the far side of the deck and unties the ropes he was told to.
Ula, from the safety of the railing, looks over at Lozredak, clutches her amulet then flings her arm forward, unleashing another guiding bolt. The blast hits the first mate square in the chest, blowing her backwards, where she crumples against the railing, motionless.
Ula then takes a quick look over the side, moves the spiritual hammer close to one of the archers and lets the weapon do its work. The spiritual hammer finally makes contact with one of the enemy and the archer is crushed to the ground, killing him instantly.
Captain Percival, unaware that this first mate is no more, climbs up the rigging and pulls himself up onto the deck. He draws his longsword and his hand crossbow, slashing at Avaria and then pulling the trigger in close. Tired from the climb, he’s not able to steady his hands and misses with both attacks.
The remaining five hobgoblins let loose with their bows again.
The first arrow takes a high arc up and over the railing. Despite being nearly invisible on the deck, it pierces straight in to Xanthe’s back. The healer collapses, not moving or breathing.
Hammerdasher, busy with the ropes catches the second arrow in his back. Thanks to the healing Xanthe had given him this hurts the dwarf but doesn’t kill him.
The third and fourth arrows sail towards Avaria, now that she’s up in the open and fighting. One arrow moves with unerring accuracy (crit 25 to hit for 15 damage), but the second just brushes past the barbarian, causing no damage.
The last arrow falls straight down towards Ula, but it catches on the railing and slows just enough to not cause any damage.
The cook, Jeras, and the two other sailors have managed to get on board another ship further down the dock and can be seen to be arguing with one of that ship’s crew about a rowboat hanging from the side of the ship.
In the distance, anyone looking towards the harbor entrance can see the ship the other rowboat rendezvoused with lifting anchor and creeping towards the sea.
Ethel bobs back up to the surface. Seeing the Captain is already up over the railing, she shouts up, "See about taking the good Captain alive! He might be of use as a hostage, or of interest to local authorities." She's unaware the others have likely already gutted him.
Then she turns her attention back to the hobgoblin archers, sending another spectral, skeletal hand their way, before diving back underwater.

The one two combo of Jan's daggers and a devastating blow from Avaria's greatsword nearly decapitating the captain, puts an end to the tale of Captain Percival. His body topples back over the side, splashing down into the water near Ethel.
Marrin insults one of the hobgoblin guards who ends up looking genuinely pained by the cutting words. So much so that he misses the skeletal hand coming his way and lets it grab his arm, rotting the flesh. This distracts him so much that Ula is able to move her spiritual hammer over top of him and smash his head in. One more hobgoblin guard down.
Ula tries to target another one with a guiding bolt, but not wanting to expose herself too much, she doesn't get a good aim on it and it goes wide.
Bigge finishes with the rigging on the quarterdeck and starts turning the wheel, still yelling orders to Hammerdasher. The dwarf, finishes with the ropes he was working on, ducks low and pulls one more hard. Sails unfurl, and just as Bigge promised, there is a hint of a breeze in the cavern, perhaps from air coming down from the open area above the arena and flowing out to sea through the harbour.
The Rose Marie slowly drifts several more feet out into the harbour.
With what might be their last round of attacks, the remaining hobgoblins unleash another round of arrows.
Bigge up on the quarterdeck proves an attractive target, and even with the railing in the way and the wheel providing some protection, an arrow makes it through and pierces the Quartermaster. He grimaces but doesn’t let go of the wheel.
The second and fourth archers target the raging barbarian, seeing Avaria as the most open target. While she gets hit by both (21 to hit for 7 damage and 22 to hit for 6 damage) her rage dampens how much pain she actually feels.
The third arrow, even at disadvantage follows towards Jan, and it would stab deeply if not for her armor of shadows. The arrow misses.
No progress is made down the pier by the other pirates in getting a rowboat lowered, but they do notice the Rose Marie moving in their direction and they press against the outer railing, waiting for you to get closer.
The ship is about 25’ out from the dock now, and the 4 remaining hobgoblins, look like they’re trying to decide what to do next. Jeras and the two other pirates are on the next ship, but that will be at least a round away before the Rose Marie clears them and it may be too far out into the harbor by then.
"Don't make an easy target of yourselves, but when we can, ought to get a crew on that ballista!", Jan calls out to her companions, as she sends a blast at Jeras.

"Hey Jeras! There's some fresh meat in the water! I know how much you savored the flavor of Percival's sausage!"
"Ethel? Don't put yourself in danger, but if you wanted to rifle though his pockets, maybe there's a keepsake for Jeras to remember him by? Or you know, good loot for us to remember out trip together..."
Janusus is feeling a bit manic and unhinged but she's managed to avoid the worst that has befallen the other prisoners, so she's still hopeful.

Avaria’s up.
"Hammerdasher, grab this pole and push, help Bigge get the boat moving!"
Taking hold of her greatsword she runs at Lozredak, slashing at him.

Hammerdasher looks at Avaria as she runs past.
"What do you think I've been doing, lass?" Hammerdasher asks, his hands on the pole Bigge has been using, helping him.
Avaria slashes an ugly wound across Lozredak's chest and shoulder. She grimaces at the pain but isn't down yet.

((Xanthe prone for disadvantage on that arrow?))

((Fingers crossed for Xanthe!))
Seeing that Janusus and Ava have the captain, Marrin turns her voice to the real threats - the murderous hobgoblin archers.
She picks the one that landed a powerful blow on Ava and calls,
"Your leaders have abandoned you idiots, look even Drusus is with us!"
Vicious mockery (Wisdom save of 14): 3
Marrin stays nice and prone and would crawl away from the captain so she isn't a tempting target.
(Unfortunately yes, Xanthe was hit even with disadvantage)
Getting hit with that arrow sends Avaria into another rage. It tore through her pretty good and she rips it out as she stares down the captain.
”You deserve this, and you know it.” She snarls at him before attacking with her great sword, bringing it down upon him, recklessly.
