Zefla is left stunned as Ireena comes down and calls the madman to her. She almost misses seeing Burr fall, but notices him get up before the reality of that sets in. She finds herself unsure of what to do. She's scared, can they really take this man on? He appears much more powerful than them, and now part of the house is on fire and it sounds like Soren had run off.
Her spine says no. She stands a little bit taller and remembers their promise to Ireena's brother and the idea that Izek might have had something to do with the church weasels into her brain as well... she squeezes between Izek and the kitchen table, frustrated that there is no pitcher of water anywhere. She disengages from him and steering clear of the moonbeam, she goes to stand in front of Ireena. Under her breath she keeps muttering, "stupid, stupid, stupid.." about her own intentions, but here she is. She readies her bow and fires.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Burr lurches to his feet, bloody and smouldering and sees Zefla in danger, he charges across at Izek leading with the Bloodspear. ( Rage has finished and he's tapped out for the day)
Giles steps down as couple of stairs and pulls out his crossbow, turning behind him to Soren saying “Give Lady Bauer a weapon, if you have one. It will take all of us..”. He turns back to face Izek, fumbling with the bolt as he loads it and shoots, his bolt going wide. He descends a few more steps so that he’s at the base, behind Burr and says to him “I’ve got you Burr, I can heal you when you need it!” And he lets the crossbow go for a second, his hands start to move and whirl in front of him, all of a sudden a ghostly great axe appears beside Izek, and it chops at the monster! “Die damn you! You’ve done enough here, you need to just lay down and die!” he screams out in fury.
Movement : To base of stairs, behind Burr.
Action : Crossbow aimed at Izek : 11 to hit, for 7 points of piercing damage.
Bonus action : Casts Spiritual weapon : A greataxe, right beside Izek that swings at him : 25 to hit, for 9 points of force damage.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Zefla nimbly ducks away from Izek'sfiery reach, her small frame darting and weaving through the kitchen like a shadow. She positions herself in the doorway, preventing pursuit of Ireena outside. Drawing her bow, she takes aim and looses an arrow that strikes true, sinking into the fiendish brute’s shoulder.
Reaction: Hot Pursuit
There is no time to take a breath of relief, as a sudden roar and surge of heat erupt from Izek. Flames burst beneath his feet, propelling him toward her in a blazing rush. The impact of his advance alone singes the air, forcing Zeflato squint against the brightness and heat.
Burning Punch: 18 Bludgeoning Damage: 5 Fire Damage: 4
Before she can react, his gnarled, flame-wreathed fist slams into her with brutal force. The blow knocks the wind out of her, sending her small form stumbling back 5' into the threshold of the door. Heat radiates from the strike, the burning sensation searing through her leather armor. Behind her, the cool night air feels like a cruel contrast to the fiery inferno inside.
Burrmoves up into her place, stabbing Izekwith his spear while Gileshits him with his spiritual axe, missing with his crossbow.
Izek's Turn
Burr, bloodied and staggering, is now planted firmly in the doorway, his spear raised, shielding both Ireenaand Zefla with his own body. Izek, his smoldering eyes gleaming like molten iron, closes in with a guttural snarl.
Burning Punch: 20 Bludgeoning Damage: 8 Fire Damage: 2
[Unless I am mistaken, that is enough damage to reduce Burrto 0HP again.] With a thunderous blow, Izek'sfiery fist collides with Burr'schest, the force and heat combining to send him crumpling to the ground. The warrior’s head lolls to the side, unconscious. But Izek does not stop.
Flaming Battleaxe: 26 [Autocrit = 2 failed death saves]
His flaming axe rises high, its glow casting monstrous shadows across the walls, and then descends with sickening finality, sinking deep into Burr’sdefenseless form. Blood splatters across the doorway, mingling with the licking flames that consume the kitchen.
The dreadful act complete, Izekstands tall, the fires on his axe burning brighter as though drinking in the carnage. He steps over Burr'sunconscious and bleeding body, into the threshold. He turns his attention to Ireena, his horrifying visage momentarily softening, almost imploring. He extends his massive, burning hand toward her.
"Sister," he rumbles, his voice a guttural mix of anger and desperation, "take my hand. Come with me. I will protect you... always."
Ireena, standing just beyond his reach, had been looking upon the fallen Burrwith horror, but now she stiffens.
"You think I would ever go with you, monster?" she spits, her voice trembling with fury and disdain. "After what you’ve done? After what you are? You are nothing to me—nothing but a nightmare I will see ended!"
Longsword Attack: 16 Slashing Damage: 8
Her sword flashes in the firelight, and before Izekcan react, she steps forward with a cry of defiance, driving the blade deep into his side. His fiendish armor cracks and smolders under the strike, and black, ichorous blood hisses as it spills from the wound. Izeklets out a monstrous roar, his fiery axe faltering briefly in his grip.
For a moment, it seems as though he will retaliate, his blazing hand rising as though to strike her down as she spins away. But he freezes, his molten eyes locking onto her face. There is something warring within his monstrous visage—a grotesque shadow of hesitation, even... sorrow. His arm trembles but does not fall. Ireena, already moving, does not wait to see if his hesitation holds. She slips into the hedgerows, her sword still slick with his blackened blood, and disappears into the garden shadows.
Izek’sbreath comes in guttural gasps, smoke curling from the gaping wound in his side. His fiery gaze lingers on the path she has taken, a growl building in his throat.
At this moment, Tourmalinereturns from her flight upstairs. She leaps over the railing and through the flames, taking 4 fire damage [w/resistance]. She extends a hand and utters an incantation as a plume of vile, green mist stretches out directly at Izek.
CON: 8
Poison Spray: 16Poison Damage
The poisonous spray engulfs him, the noxious fumes seeping into the cracks of his charred, fiendish flesh. Izek staggers, roaring in pain as the poison eats away at him, dulling the light from his flames. His infernal power flickers, and the inferno coursing through him seems to sputter as the damage accumulates. The once-unstoppable force of his rage begins to give way to the toll of the relentless attacks upon his physical form. Still, he refuses to fall.
Meanwhile, the fire in the kitchen spreads with terrifying speed, igniting the wooden cabinets and consuming the walls. The heat is unbearable, and the thick black smoke chokes the air, reducing visibility to a shadowy haze. Every breath burns from the heat and smoke. It's clear that not only Izek but the entire manor is at risk of being swallowed by the growing inferno.
[The smoky area on the map is heavily obscured, and moving through spaces adjacent to fire will result in a DC 12 DEX save or take 4 fire damage. Burris technically on the ground in the same space Izekis standing, though he appears in the space next to him on the map. Sorenis alone upstairs, so no map for you.]

As Nettle swoops in from the back garden to take the help action once more against Izek (next attack has advantage), then back out and up 20', she telepathically communicates with Soren, imparting the danger of trying to move the Moonbeam directly over Izek, since it would block the escape from the fire for his companions. A danger Soren would never wish on any of his allies who might flee from the inferno as he is doing.
Knowing Soren's battle tactics and having seen Gilesshove people from a distance, the fey owl considers telepathically suggesting to Soren that he shift the Moonbeam just 2.5' south so that it would not block the door but so the not-Father could Telekinetically ShoveIzek into it. But seeing Burr go down once more from Izek's brutal strikes, the owl guesses instinctively that Giles will be too busy attacking with his spectral weapon and healing Burr.
Being frightened in the extreme of the roaring flames and the fiend who caused them, Soren cannot move closer to help his friends. Not receiving any telepathic direction to move the Moonbeam from his familiar, Soren uses his action to dash headlong eastward down the upstairs hallway, away from the incendiary source of his terror. Hoping to win free of the burning man-den through the front door.
The Moonbeam remains stationary (round 8 of 10). (Will roll damage if anyone enters or starts their turn in the AoE).
Thinking of Viktor in his attic upstairs and the mastiff who may still be in the living room, Soren shouts, first in Common:
"Viktor. Izek has fallen but been reanimated as a fiery fiend who has set the house aflame. You must escape now. Perhaps the rope, out the window."
Then using Speech of the Woods to any canines still remaining within the Baron's manor:
Fire comes. Hungry and all-consuming. You must escape this man-den. Heed me now, for I have faced such peril before. Do not delay.
DC20 WIS Save at end of Soren's turn to escape the frightened condition: 18 (so close!).
"Noooo!!" Zefla screams out as the madman's axe crunches down upon her friend. Turning to Giles, "Please, I know you can help him! I don't even have a healing potion!" she yells the last part in frustration, feeling so useless in the matter. Skirting around the inferno of Izek, she disengages again, ending up about 10' north of Tourmaline. Seeing the beast appears to be almost finished, she uses the help from Nettle to try and end him once and for all.
As Nettle swoops down, talons raking at Izek’sfiery visage and drawing his molten gaze upward in a moment of distraction, Zefla seizes her opportunity. She notches another arrow with deadly precision. She exhales, squinting through the smoke and haze, and releases.
The arrow flies true, striking Izeksquarely in his burning back, piercing deep into his infernal heart. His monstrous form freezes, the flames around him flaring wildly. A guttural, otherworldly scream escapes his throat, with a hellish resonance that shakes the very walls.
His body begins to crack and shatter, fissures of fiery light splitting his skin as though the inferno within can no longer be contained. He collapses to his knees. The fire consuming him erupts violently, engulfing him in a blinding blaze. For an instant, it looks as though he is about to explode, perhaps taking the rear half of the home and everyone here with him. But then, it is as if a void within him collapses, his flame snuffing out and his grotesque form disintegrating into ash and embers.
When the fire finally recedes, there is nothing left of Izekbut a smoldering pile of charred remains, the twisted blade of the battleaxe he once wielded melted and fused with the scorched floorboards beneath. The sounds of battle end, leaving only the crackling roar of the fire spreading through the manor.
From above, there is a long silence after Sorencalls out to Victor. Then, his incredulous voice rings out, tinged with panic:
"WHAT?! You’re telling me that now my HOUSE is on fire?! And you want me to climb out of a window like some common thief?!"
A muffled sound of clattering can be heard from the attic, as if Victor is pacing or throwing something in frustration.
[The battle is over, but lets keep to initiative for a bit... Burris still down and there is still the matter of the fire spreading through the house to think of....]

Circling in the air west of the late Baron's manor, Nettle relays telepathically to Soren that Izek's fiendish avatar is no more, but that the fire is consuming the man-den. The owl familiar looks and listens all around for any further Vampire Spawn or other possible enemies nearby (120' darkvision).
Nettle'sPerception, with advantage due to Keen Hearing and Sight : 18 (First of two rolls was higher, so still 18 even if looking into darkness with darkvision makes it appear to Nettle as dim light, imposing disadvantage on visual Perception to cancel advantage).
The druid remains afraid of the spreading flames, but the fiery revenant that had been the source of his abject terror is gone. (Removing frightened condition). Nevertheless, Soren has no intention of going back through the inferno to the western entrance. He continues to dash east and down the stairs and out the eastern entrance. If he sees nothing obvious that might make him change his mind, Soren loops back around outside the southern portion of the house, west to rejoin his companions. IF neither he nor Nettle notice any threats, he drops concentration on Moonbeam (round 9/10).
(Once towards the southwest exterior, Soren's plan is to desperately attempt multiple uses of Mold Earth from outside the house in a ;ast ditch, probably futile, attempt to move large amounts of damp soil into the manor to halt the spread of the fire).
Back in the general direction of Viktor in the attic, he shouts a reply: "The fire was the doing of the fiery fiend which arose from Izek's corpse, that my friends have now also slain. But unless you possess means to put out the fast-spreading flames consuming the south end of the kitchen, I suggest you exit the man-den quickly. If city-folk think common thieves are like gazelles, then yes, just like a common thief, as you say."
[The dashing last round and then again this round have taken him all the way down the upstairs corridor, down the strairs, and to the steps outside the front door.]
Along the way, he passes the traumatized guard who remains on the stairs, the surviving mastiff. The beast has left the corpse of its master and is slowly walking to the front door. It watches Sorenpass without molevolence but stops to peer at the guard on the staircase.
Outside at the rear, Nettles doesn't see any encroaching threats, but it does telepathically alert Sorento the presence of many bats in the night sky around the Baron's home. Then just as Soren reaches the front steps, he loses his telepathic link with Nettles. [Just exceeds 100' range of familiar telepathy.]

Szhe Frase Fetuee….” He touches his leg and the healing force goes into Burr, he uses any remaining action to pull him away from any nearby flames or ashes. “Wake up, come, let us escape this place before it falls on our heads!”
He turns and shouts upstairs, “Viktor! Come down, now! Or you will burn down with this house, you must escape!”
Giles casts 2nd level cure wounds on Burr for 6 points of healing. (Double 1s! 😩)
A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Burr began coughing and sat up painfully, " Well, this is all terrible.....what did I miss?"
" Are we saving the house or letting it burn?"
Tourmaline coughs from the smoke, stumbling past Giles and Burr and out the back door, where Ireena meets her. They speak, but the words are drowned out by the roar of the flames in the kitchen.

Burr struggled to his feet and headed out the door after Ireena and Tourmaline....
Dex Save- 22
Burr looked to the two women, " Sorry, the rescue didn't go quite to plan."
" Soren! Get your arse outside!"
( Held Action- Attack anyone who tries to hurt Ireena or Tourmaline)
Circling in the air west of the late Baron's manor, Nettle relays telepathically to Soren that Izek's fiendish avatar is no more, but that the fire is consuming the man-den. The owl familiar looks and listens all around for any further Vampire Spawn or other possible enemies nearby (120' darkvision).
Nettle's Perception, with advantage due to Keen Hearing and Sight : 18 (First of two rolls was higher, so still 18 even if looking into darkness with darkvision makes it appear to Nettle as dim light, imposing disadvantage on visual Perception to cancel advantage).
Soren's Passive Perception: 16

Soren:
[The dashing last round and then again this round have taken him all the way down the upstairs corridor, down the strairs, and to the steps outside the front door.]
Along the way, he passes the traumatized guard who remains on the stairs, the surviving mastiff. The beast has left the corpse of its master and is slowly walking to the front door. It watches Soren pass without molevolence but stops to peer at the guard on the staircase.
Outside at the rear, Nettles doesn't see any encroaching threats, but it does telepathically alert Soren to the presence of many bats in the night sky around the Baron's home. Then just as Soren reaches the front steps, he loses his telepathic link with Nettles. [Just exceeds 100' range of familiar telepathy.]

After the thrill of killing the madman, the real situation of the fire burning down the house enters Zefla's realization. Unsure of who all was remaining in the manor, she wants to try and put it out. She looks around desperately, but the smoke badly is clogging her breathing as well as her vision. She fumbles around, looking for anything that might help put out the fire.
Investigation w/disadvantage: 8
Assuming she finds nothing, she runs into the hall and if she can get to that first door on the left, she'll open it to make sure the room is empty.
