Neither Jada or Firebrand have a clue how to operate the automated cart. Adruus and Ophelia get Maitland on the cart just as the spell fades. Adruus removes his cloak putting it under Maitland's head then looks to the party for a similar gesture.
The temperature is a dry heat. Not oppressive in the shadow of the skyport but you're sure outside the towers it might be decided hotter!

Jada looks at the cart and the automated parts. I never seen such advance creations. Well of course a clock here and there, but not an automated cart. How does this mechanic beast work? Is it magic of some kind?
Alright lets give this another try. He looks at the instruments and recalls what the old gnoll said
Firebrand's attempt at driving the cart was... how shall we say it... sad. He turned the knob too far and then tried turning it the other way, overcorrecting and nearly flipping the cart. He quickly decides against any further attempts for fear of damaging the vehicle.
"I entirely agree with Jada," he says. "Ophelia, I think maybe you'd better have a try... it's pretty clear that neither I nor Jada have the slightest idea what we're doing."

Ophelia removes her coat. "Very well. I think there was a contraption similar to this one in the Arcanomechanics department of the university, let see what I remember of it."Ophelia studies the design of the automaton, then climbs into the driver's seat. "First time for everything I suppose."
Climbing into the bench seat at the front of the cart Ophelia takes a seat at the yoke on the left side of the cart. Ophelia studies the controls for a few minutes before engaging the lever forward and taking off the handbrake. The cart which is 8ft long and 6ft wide lurches forward slightly before she engages the handbrake again to stop it. Arduus smiles at her and nods as he settles in the bed of the cart with Maitland laying prone in the back.
"I think two of you can fit in front on the bench if Firebrand and another sits back here with us," Arduus says gesturing at the bed of the cart with Maitland prone.
The party is still drawing attention and the market outside the skyport but it seems to continue with its regular business. At first, the party did not see any sort of military or city watch presence other than the officials at the checkpoints but then from the air two robed figures, bird people, in tan robes emblazoned with the symbol of the royal house land nearby. They stand about 8ft tall with wide wing spans as seen in the air above the party and one carries a staff while the other has a large scimitar sheathed in the scabbard hanging from a belt. The citizens in the market do not give this royal guard a wide berth. The two seem to know the tradespeople as well as many of the denizens shopping as they pass through. The party gets into the cart and can see the guards visit several kiosks and stop to speak to those selling cooper goods and pottery as well as a weaver whose fine fabric glints in the evening sunset. These two royal guards look watchful but not overly concerned about anything in their immediate presence.

Moving out of the Sky market the party meanders through the throngs of citizens as Adruus directs Ophelia towards the center of Me'at Halwa. Finally, nearly after an hour of slow diligent travel through the packed city streets alive with Anjarans going about their business, the party stops at a massive stone wall sun worn and weathered by the eons.
"This is the original holy city of Aten. Kurru and her husband Seqenenre Ta'a built it into the thriving metropolis it is today over a decade of claim it back from the desert," Adruus explains. "The Barakah-Set villa is a verdant green stone palace with a courtyard behind high fences of iron and jasmine. We should probably enter from the servants gate," he indicates pointing to a towering green obelisk ahead as well as three towers reminiscent of mushroom caps beyond glintingin the setting sun. "Just there," the monk points out the green building ahead about 10 or so blocks. The party continues to move slowly through smaller less opulent structures and businesses boasting magical items of all kinds while denizens of Me'at Halwa move about the city on an array of automatic locomotion or carried in small covered seats by attendants dressed in fine linen to staves off the heat.
Firebrand carefully observes his surroundings, making mental notes of everything that he can see or smell... he isn't looking for anything in particular, except perhaps runaway carts, as he has personally experienced how difficult those things are to control.

Glyph, having settled himself in the front of the cart, crosses one leg over the other and rests his chin on his hand. The city slowly passes by as they progress in the cart, the half-elf taking note of the two bird men and the other types of people he’s never encountered. Trying to focus on the general state of affairs, aside from the shops and guards, he’s particularly interested if there is a presence of beggars or unhoused people or if the shopkeepers/locals look wealthy.
With a fixed smile pasted on his face, the half-elf looks toward the green structures and replies, “That sounds splendid, dear Arduus. You know, it’s very funny, I feel half-a-world-away from the green wilds of Wildemount, but suddenly something seems very familiar about this place.”
The servant entrance? How uninspiring. Glyph muses to himself, as he ponders the wealthy’s obsession with certain people using certain doors. Typical though, really. Halfway round the world and nothing changes.

Firebrand noticed in the cart Adruus is tenderly holding Maitland's, once again, gloved hand. The monk is attempting to obscure this soft exchange with Maitland's finely made, but plain, blue robes with his own in matching hues!
Above the party in thw twilight Minerva catches sight of the two winged royal guards from the market. They are in pursuit of the party from above! They were being fairly covert from the view point of the party on the ground but is no match for the owl aloft!
The owl sends a brief glimpse of the pair of Ophelia. Ophelia clucks her tongue. "Professor, gentlemen. I don't wish to alarm you, but it appears we are being followed. Two avians above us dressed in the insignia of the royal guard." She doesn't make any gesture to indicate them. "They don't seem interested in apprehending us, at least not for the moment. Mister Adruus, is there an alternative route we might consider?"
Firebrand does his best to pretend he doesn't notice the affectionate gestures between Adruus and Maitland. He feels that it would be best to allow them a bit of privacy. So he does his best to focus his attention elsewhere while they share a tender moment.

Jada pulls back his cloak and hood feigning being a bit too warm by wiping the imaginary sweat from his brow. "You can really feel the sun in this land" If danger comes I best have freedom of movement and not get caught up in my cloak. He makes contact with the steely power of the Hexblade. He feels power within his hands just underneath the skin flowing like a heartbeat not his own "If these royal guards intend harm then I will blast them out of the skies" whispers Jada.
"Yes, Jada, the sun certainly seems to be unforgiving here. Must wear a lot of linen . . ." Glyph purses his lips and raises his eyebrows. He looks in the complete opposite direction of the guards, matter-of-factly saying, "Ah, yes, spotted them straightaway. All those feathers, can't miss them. Like dragons on horseback."
Adjusting himself in the seat, he repositions his hands so that they rest on the Beatrix's hilt. The half-elf wills himself to not begin looking around for the actual location of the guards, focusing instead on the people and things they pass as they ride in the cart.
"Perhaps they're after a signed illustration. It wouldn't be the first time. My exploits tend to impress city watch types,"he says, fanning out the fingers of the resting hand to inspect his fingernails."They love the story of when I recovered the pail of plenteous pumpkins. You see, I was traveling with a halfling and a gnome . . ."
He abruptly stops talking with a quick glance to Ophelia. He purses his lips again and resumes scanning the crowd, an eyebrow raised. "Probably best saved for another time. Do we have any reason to worry about the royal guard, Arduus?"
"Not to my knowledge. Our papers are the truth. Maitland is seeking a cure and we are here under that pretext regardless of how..." Arduus sighs, "minor the chance is that they can be given help here. The business of your new task is secret. I can honestly say I see no wrongdoing in returning objects belonging to an ancestor to their living relations. So, those objects might objectively protect the current rulers or they might not. From what I understand the people seeking to overthrow the Queen Regent and thwart what has frankly been the most prosperous years the kingdom has ever seen I can not fathom why anyone would think our aid is unjust or unlawful," the monk explains sounding very diplomatic as well has been the longest sentence the man has very utter in your presence!
