(OOC: @Larry613 - Unless the DM added you to this game, I think that you're posting in the wrong thread. If you're interested in joining a play-by-post game, I recommend reading the PbP Rules and FAQ thread first. You'll need to watch the forum for play-by-post games that are actively recruiting and post into the thread for any game that interests you. For each game, make sure to follow the DM's specific guidelines for how to respond and what information they want to see. It often takes a few tries to get accepted into a game, but since good play-by-post games generally run for years, that's good practice for the kind of patience a play-by-post game requires! 😉)

Finley Stoneshaft, Dwarf Artificer - The Wild Beyond the Witchlight, Falkas, Half-Elf Drow Warlock - Keys of Empire
(The prices are the same price listed in the sourcebook).
Valrieth reminds Finley and Aoife that the party has the pile of gold from Nib's cave in the Portable Hole. She says, "We never counted it, but it looked like an awful lot of gold." She doesn't say so, but the treasure from Nib's cave seemed like a vast fortune to her. (When she was little, her family was quite poor.) "Just remember that my reading foretold that taking the gold would bring both good and bad."
Val doesn't think it's a good idea to reveal that they have a Portable Hole, but the fog should obscure them from the shopkeeper's view. Once they have an idea of how much gold they'll need, Val proposes that Finley and Aoife step a little ways away from the shop so that one of them can get down in the hole and bring out some bags of gold. If needed, they could also pay with some of the treasures from Loomlurch, but Val worries that someone may recognize the Loomlurch treasures here
In the meantime, Val and Ilifir could stay talk with the shopkeeper.
(OOC: Not sure how much gold we have. Finley has been in scale armor, so if he doesn't mind the disadvantage on stealth checks, he could upgrade to heavy armor. Even if we don't have enough GP for splint armor for Finley or a breastplate for Aoife, we should definitely be able to afford chain mail for Finley and a chain shirt for Aoife. Just the treasures that we took from Loomlurch should cover that cost even if we hadn't taken any gold from Nib's cave.)
Aoife moves to the crate and starts picking up and putting down various items. She unearths a breastplate, and holds it up to her chest to check the fit. She turns to the others.
"What do you think? Is it 'me'?" She poses with her muscles bulging in classic "strongman" positions, looking hopefully at the others.

Aoife is unlike other women Valrieth has known, and she's still not sure what the ranger would consider to be a compliment. When Aoife starts posing, Val hesitates and then says, "Oooh! Yes, that looks good. Very...um...tough!?" Her voice definitely sounds uncertain by the end of her answer, almost more of a question.
The gold from Nibs cave is 1500 gp. Yes, and the omen on coins is mixed good and bad.
Since the party seems to have plenty of gold, and there are so few shops in Prismeer, Val starts to look through the things herself. Unless the merchant has a suit of Serpent Scale Armor or other exotic (non-metal) Medium Armor, she'll just look for some studded leather armor for herself. It's a small upgrade, but every little bit helps!
Val wonders what else they'll need for their confrontation with Bavlorna Brightstraw. She starts to look at the wares to see whether there are any scrolls or potions. Finally, Val asks the elderly bullywug, "Excuse me. Do you have any magical wares? Or, at least, any healing potions for sale? I'm afraid that we won't be staying in this nice little town, and the swamps seem to be filled with brigands and dangerous beasts."
The elderly shopkeeper nods and says "I have potions of healing in different strengths and common magical wares for sale. The magical wares are 500 gp each. The potions of healing run from 50 gp to 1500 gp depending on the quality"
A big smile breaks over Aoife's face when Val says she looks tough. "Tough! Great! I'll take it. You got enough cash for that, Val?"
Aoife puts the breastplate on. The grin stays plastered on her face.
Valrieth says, "Yes! At least, I expect so. Wait here a moment..." Assuming he has already found armor that he wants to buy, they should have a good idea of how much gold they need. She takes FinleyAoife a little away from the merchant stand where they have room to open the Portable Hole undisturbed. Val is happy to climb into the hole to gather up bags of gold, but she's too short to climb back out of the hole easily without Finley's rope or some other assistance.
It sounds like we'll need most of the gold since we'll be getting:
Valrieth asks the merchant whether she can borrow a sack to bring him the gold for their purchase. She figures that it's going to take a while for Finleyto pick out his new armor and then switch from his existing armor to the new suit, so she'll work with Aoifeto load up most of the gold from Nibs' Cave into the sack. She checks whether Ilifir is planning to buy anything to make sure that they count out enough gold to pay for everything.
The elderly shopkeeper nods and says "I have potions of healing in different strengths and common magical wares for sale. The magical wares are 500 gp each. The potions of healing run from 50 gp to 1500 gp depending on the quality"
(OOC: I'll just give it a day or two for the others to post before we wrap up with the merchant.
@Weathervision - The plain Potion of Healing costs 50 gp, but how much does a Potion of Healing (Greater) cost? I doubt that we can afford any of the stronger healing potions if we try to buy a Common magic item.
@Snievan - Waiting to confirm what kind of armor Finley wants to get here.
@valeskah- Aoife is the only one who will have a problem if we face opponents who resist damage from non-magical attacks. You have the Dagger +1, but do you want to get a magic sword to go with it? We can afford one magic item other than the healing potions, and the merchant only has Common items. If you want a shortsword or scimitar for two-weapon fighting, you could get a silvered weapon or a moon-touched sword. Alternatively, you could get the Sylvan Talon if you want two magic daggers.
@willow_ivyleaf - Does Ilifir want to purchase anything? Any regular adventuring gear that you missed at character creation?
Aoife hefts a sack of gold and brings it back to the merchant, thumping it down on the ground before going back to paw through the weapons the shopkeeper has to offer.
She muses to the shopkeeper, "I've heard of weapons that allow people to speak to the fey. You got any shortswords like that?" (Sylvan Talon Shortsword)
The elderly bullywug opens his right eye a little wider as he starts counting the coin with a smile "Yes, I do have such magical items. Though the cost is 500 gp."

The elderly bullywug nods at Aoufie's question "Yes I have all the armor types that you can ask for and the prices are reasonable as well."
The shopkeeper slowly gets up and ponderously opens a crate stuffed to the brim with all sorts of armor packed in straw.

He means common magic items

(OOC: Cool! Somehow I didn't notice that the Sylvan Talon could be a shortsword or scimitar instead of just a dagger.)
Barring any objections I will assume Aoife purchases the magical blade.
(OOC: No reply from @snievan since their last post. If you're ready to move things along past this merchant...)
Here's what I think we'll end up purchasing from the bullywug merchant:
Total = 1345 gp. We would still have 155 gp from the treasure we took from Nibs's Cave.
