Simmeat rushes forward, striking down on the prone creature. As he does, he feels his fists as if striking something denser than steel, yet thin as the air. His first blow glides off the side of the shadow, while his second strikes onto it, his fist seemingly caught in the creature.

OOC: actually disadvantage correct? Being its a ranged attack and the creature is prone? I guess with both rolls being a 16 it doesn't matter, just wanted to clarify for my self and future reference.

The Fire Bolt flies forth and strikes into the back of the shadow humanoid, who seems to react as if it felt the flames strike its back. (For reference, prone does give you disadvantage to ranged attack rolls against the target unless you are within 5 feet of them)

Darkwing dives down with a thrust and a kick, managing to get a blow that doesn't glance off. However, he too feels the dark form attempting to latch onto him.

Leojym, badly hurt and seeing his companions not fairing much better, will wave his hand and speak a dark incantation, casting toll the dead on the shadow creature.
Damage: 5
He will then move up behind Rumble and say, "Quick give me that dagger we found."
As quick as he was to make that first step in the creature's direction, the others sharper reaction, call to be careful touching it, and the creatures transformation nearly paralyzes Rumble. But, at leo's command he snaps back to focus, start to say something, only to nod fiercely. "Mister Dwarf! Catch!" He calls out, throwing his club to Slimmeat. A second later, he fishing around for the dagger, hoping to fish it out and drop it in Leo's outstretched hand before the compulsion to run to Darnell's side.
If need be, he'll outright drop the sack itself, and with little more than a hurried apology thrown over the shoulder, take off following the instinctive movement to the Halfling side. With any luck, his bulk will be enough to shield his fallen compatriot w/ his body.

Orianna enters a rage and rushes at the form on the ground, getting a mighty strike into it. The greatclub nearly seems to go into the form as she is beating on it.
Rumble is able to pass out the weapons and discard the sack, rushing over to his companion's side.
Shadow Humanoid's Turn
The humanoid does not seem to stand. Instead it begins to crawl a few feet forward, again towards the now grey flame of the torch. It begins to raise its left hand again, then begins to trace a finger in the sand. Before now, the shadow appeared to have no presence, leaving no footprints. However, this time the sand is pushed by the finger, leaving a line on the sand.
(If people surrounding the figure would like to make an opportunity attack, they are welcome to do so)
