In 3.5 each size creature (tiny, small, medium, large, gargantuan) has weapons (weapons acutely did different damage depending on their size), armor and sometimes other items are sized for the creature. In 5e this has gone away, but since Shackled City was written for 3.5 I decided to keep the item sizes. After much thought here is how I'm going to deal with this.
Weapons: If the weapon is within one size category of you (small or large), you can use the weapon, but it will always have disadvantage.
Armor: Armor within one size category of you (small or large) can be resized by a blacksmith for 1/3rd the cost of the armor. Armor within two sizes category of you (tiny or gargantuan) can be resized by a blacksmith for 2/3rd the cost of the armor. The resizing with take 2d4 days to complete.
Other items will very as the need arises. The shield Tyris took needs to have the leather hand grip loosened that will take an hour or so and can be done during a short rest.
Shadow can help Laladak, but not before the grell falls possibly crushing Laladak.
Laladak still needs a second Dex save for the disadvantage for being restrained.
Here is the chain of events.
1. The grell grapples Laladak and flies 20 feet upward.
2. Laladak fails to to escape the grapple.
3. Alben kills the grell.
4. The grell and Laladak fall at the same time to the balcony floor. Both taking 2d6 falling damage (doesn't matter to the grell as it's already dead, but the impact does split open its head spilling brains and bodily fluids all over)
5. Now we see if the grell lands atop Laladak crashing him between the floor and the dead weight of the grell. Because Laladak was restrained when you both fell, you have disadvantage on Des saving throws.
Alben will walk down to Ladalak, and cleans him off with prestidigitation. "That was rather unpleasant, how do you feel?"
During the conversation, Alben will try and recover bolts from the grell's body. He will also inspect the remains (as disgusting as they may be) for anything useful. Cleaning himself and anyone else that needs it after.
Tyris also grabs as many of his arrows as he can find while the others search the balcony. "Either of you need a heal before we move on?" He asks the oreus and laladak. (I have cure wounds and haven't used any spell slots yet)

Oreus, now calm, asks:
“has any of you ever seen something like this?”
hd hopes somebody did and can explain its presence here
Alben thinks back on all of his travels to remember if he has encountered such a beast:5
Alben searches the body of the grell but he doesn't find anything interesting. Studying the creature he doesn't have any idea where it came from.
Moving over to the black cloak and bones he searches them. Make a Int check. He finds
A really high quality "small" dagger
A Potion of Healing
A 2nd potion of unknown quality. (This potion's container looks empty but feels as though it holds liquid.)
A black pouch containing 80 Cp and 32 Sp
Shadow searches the rest of the balcony but don't find anything interesting.
Int check on cloak and bones:8
Shadow as he is searching the balcony can also make a Int check
"How I'm feelin? Nothing a short rest cant cure ya know?" Laladak turns to Oreus and says, "Thanks buddy." He spends his turn picking up his hatchet.
