Shadow finds the doors locked, but he is able to figure out how to unlock them with ease. He doesn't find any traps so he pushes open the double doors to reveal...
This enormous chamber has a ceiling that soars to a height of forty-five feet at its peak. Two great marble pillars support wooden balconies fifteen feet above the chamber’s west and east wings. Two iron-wrought spiral staircases – located in the southeast and southwest corners – connect the balconies to the ground floor. The furnishings on the ground level suggest some sort of assembly area. Desks occupy much of the area, although a few boxes and crates fill various corners and nooks. An eight-foot-diameter wooden gear hangs from the ceiling at the north end of the chamber, suspended by a pair of great iron chains. A bright light burns in the hollow center of the huge gear, illuminating a large mosaic of interconnected gears painstakingly painted on the ceiling and walls of the room. The singular light casts many shadows throughout the chamber, and the faint sound of clattering gears resonates from somewhere not too far away.

What are you going to do? Split up and each check an area or explore as a group?
Staircases are close, let’s go up and see what’s there, maybe it will give us vantage to view the room and see something we can’t from the ground. While I don’t think we leave this room I do think at some point we divide it into sections and each go search for hidden doors and items

Oreus will peer over from the the staircases (first one and if nothing happens also the other) to see , as much as possible, where those corridors lead, gesturing to the others with open palm to wait
oic: why do you wanna go upstairs right now that we found the most interesting thing of the dungeon? Actually, we come from upstairs!
Shadow and Oreus lead the party (minus Laladak) up the western staircase to the western balcony. From the balconie you can see that the eastern corridor (under the eastern balcony) is blocked off with what looks like a makeshift wooden wall. You also see that the alcove the holds the eight-foot-diameter wooden gear, has 2 gear doors. One to the west of the alcove and onne to the east of the alcove. The door to the west has a I glyph and the door to the east has a N glyph. The floor of the balcony is dusty and looks undisturbed before you came up.
Laladak moves into the room and he can see that both corridors leading west and east are blocked off with what looks like a makeshift wooden walls.
Check for hidden doors that might get us into the room with the double doors or another room to the north

Oreus just whispers:
”that light is on so let’s pay attention and shut up”
ooc: imho it’s better not to split the party.
I would go to check the stair cases and pop left and right to see where the two corridors lead
Let us say we are never going to split up while searching I go with Oreus.

"Staircases sounds good to me." Alben readies another crossbow bolt and aims at the 2nd floor balconies.
"Sounds good," Tyris agrees. "Second floor gives me a good vantage point if we end up in a fight in here..."

Which staircase are you going up first, East or West?
West
Laladak walks down the middle of the room, his Great Grandpapi's greatsword drawn, looking around ready to dodge at any given moment.

You talking about the main floor right? Not going up the west balconie with the rest of the party. Is that correct?

Alben looks around the top of the balcony he is on for anything of note (besides dust). Perception: 12
Alben doesn't see anything of interest on this balcony.
What are you guys going to do next?
Right now Laladak is in the middle of the room ready to defend himself. The rest of you are up in the western balcony.
