bonus action Hunter's Mark on the same hobgoblin. Dread ambusher attack Attack: 25 Damage: 10 and Attack: 24 Damage: 15 then move to the cover of a trunk of a tree, dropping the acorn
Esa perches on the nearby roof, looking about the buildings before a plan strikes her. She casts Minor Illusion, forming the image of a short elven archer behind some bushes. She has it run silently towards the buildings, stopping at the paths crossroads. It looks around with a scared look on its face.
She watches, hoping for the hobgoblins to take the bait.
Esa (on the roof of a nearby building, therefore off the map) creates the illusion of the scared elf archer at the crossroads.
Augustin (as Steve handed over control of the paladin to me) will run to the western building, he can get to the wall beside the door. He will hold his attack for the first enemy to run out thinking it's going to attack Esa's illusional elf.
RL shifts and uses thorn whip to grab the hobgoblin scout and pull him out of the tree, landing with a thump doing an extra 6 damage. The hobgoblin scout is prone 10ft closer to RL.
Grimbald sees the condition of the hobgoblin on the ground is not good, so he opts to shoot the other hobgoblin scout. He gets a clear shot and kills the hobgoblin outright who falls with a stock soundbite from the tree and crashes to the ground.
Vakiel runs to the closest wall of the western building, deciding NOT to look in the window in case an arrow is looking back at him. He is ready to dodge any attack that comes his way.
One hobgoblin scout prone on the ground 10ft from Rustling Leaves. Hobgoblin at the side of the house looks like he is taking the illusionary bait.
DM Edit: Forgot to add Grimbald moved to cover of the trunk of the tree that the dead hobgoblin scout was using. Drops the Acorn. Gets the following effect:
Flowers and vines temporarily grow around you; until the combat ends, the ground within 15 feet of you is difficult terrain for your enemies.
Vakiel hears a spell being cast from the window near him, and a bright missile of force energy is released, aimed at Rustling Leaves.
Hobgoblin spellcaster bolt: Attack: 18 Damage: 22 force damage.
I guess we know where the spellcaster is now.
Three hobgoblin warriors come charging out of the door of the southern building, intending to attack the elf illusion. Augustin gets his readied attack on the first hobgoblin.
Augustin's Red Sceptre: Attack: 20 Damage: 9.
All three hobgoblins surround the illusion and spend their turn hacking at it, then look confused before an angry look crosses their face and they look around for other targets.
The hobgoblin at the side of the building comes charging at the elf illusion also, followed by two more who had been behind him. They take the dash action and cannot take any further actions this turn.
The door on the northern building bursts open, and two bloody creatures emerge. Freshly summoned devils, the result of a recent summoning, are ready for battle. They are humanoid in form, with pointed ears, scaly skin, a long tail, and claws that clearly show its fiendish nature. These devils have snakelike growths that adorn their chins that move about like snakes. They are immediately caught up in Grimbald's vines and flowers and snarl, looking for a target. (Perception check DC15 to spot Grimbald behind the tree seeing as he is taking cover rather than trying to hide- 10.
The devils miss Grimbald taking cover behind the tree - he looks like a natural part of the land, including squirrel poop - They can see RL on his own and Augustin about to be mobbed by hobgoblins. They choose RL and run towards the shifter through the vines which catch at their clawed feet and slow them down. They cannot reach him this turn due to being caught in the difficult terrain.
The hobgoblin commander emerges from the northern building and yells at his soldiers to ignore the elf and kill everyone else quickly - they have a battle to win in Albridge! He steps to the side of the difficult terrain and looks around for a target. Perception check DC15 to spot Grimbald - 19.
The hobgoblin commander sees Grimbald and runs towards him, also hampered by the difficult terrain. He stops 10ft from Grimbald and hurls his javelin (Grimbald gets +2 on his AC for cover).
Esa is giddy, seeing the fools fall for her ploy, and now knowing where the spellcaster is hiding. She looks down at one of her latest tattoos and casts the spell. "Shatter."
She picks the location right of the illusion, so Augustin and the others aren't caught in the spell. With a 10ft spherical radius she should be able to catch all 6 of them and possibly the two just above (depending on if she has to cast it on a square or if she can cast it between the elf and the hobgoblin, DM call).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When it comes back to Augustins turn he would like to start smashing heads with his sceptre (rod is put away). He is specifically targeting those that look like their on the last legs following Esa's shatter.
First attack Attack: 26 Damage: 8 (2 psychic damage included)
If it works you'll do extra 1d6 damage from the fall to the hobgoblin scout.

Vakiel will move towards the East wall of the Southern building and take the dodge action as a precautionary measure.
Right to the window so you can peer in I expect :) Or actually closer to the door so you can enter next round and muck stuff up!

Hobgoblin commander javelin - Attack: 5 Damage: 3.
The map at the bottom of Round 1: - note Esa is off the map on the roof of a building to the south just off the map.
Forgot to add Hobgoblin 1 (very badly hurt) and Scout 2 (prone) are bloodied.
Also RL should be in melee range of the prone and bloodied scout. Forgot that sorry. Take that into account when planning your actions.
Would RL have had cover for being at the tree to the east from the magic bolt?
How big would you say the window next to me is? 🤔

CON save of 14, half damage on success.
Full damage is 11.
Big enough to squeeze through
Only the trunk would provide cover, the branches are high, and you'd need to deliberately position yourself behind a trunk.
RL will cast [Tooltip Not Found] as a bonus action
Attack the hobgolin scount Attack: 16 Damage: 10
crouch behind the trunk of the tree to the east out of sight of the building
