Kargan and Breccha stand in the flickering firelight, the flames from the Hobs spell dying down in the dew covered underbrush. The sounds of the three fleeing Hobgoblins crashing through the forest tot he north still loud in their ears. Eedim is still nowhere to be seen.
Titus makes good speed, the fleeing enemies have no idea he is following them. They seem to be headed north as fast as their legs can carry them.
OOC: Breccha will need a light source or one at the ready if he moves off into the forest. The flames providing the light at the moment will die down in a few rounds.
Kryinor makes good time in the rolling hills between the Triboar Trail and the Eves of the Neverwinter woods. The moon begins its descent towards the horizon its light throwing long shadows on the ground and shimmering in the dew laden grass.
The Hobgoblins continues north, jabbering at each other in their language. They spare the occasional fearful glance behind them but continue to run themselves ragged in retreat.
Titus begins to fall behind. He will lose sight of them in a short while and will need to rely on following their tracks.
@ The Scene of the Battle
Breccha surveys the groups handy work. Four Hobgoblin bodies lie on the bloody forest floor.
Kargan searches the corpses of their recent foes for items of value and usefulness. All the warriors [3] are armed with longswords, short bows [about 43 arrows all up], and armoured in chain with shields. The armour stinks of Goblin. They have some provisions and water. They also carry sacks with 4 severed Elf heads in them. The leader has a long bow, a silver longsword, and arm bracers inscribed with skulls and scythes. The Hobgoblin mage wears leather armour, carries a quarterstaff, and is wearing an oddly fashioned belt with metal plaques engraved with open eyes all around it. They have no coins or jewels. The group appears to be a returning raiding party.
I will collect any gear that could be of use to the others, or may be magical (the belt, bracers, longsword, and quarterstaff ), and drag the bodies away.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Don the Spell hunters mark lasts 1 hour so whatever is left of that duration I continue to follow the fleeing hobs at normal pace 35ft whilst being stealthy (features and traits) and will know the following:
Natural ExplorerPHB91
You have a favored terrain type. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for proficient skills when you make an INT or WIS check related to it. While traveling for an hour or more in your chosen terrain, difficult terrain doesn’t slow your group’s travel, your group can’t become lost except by magical means, you remain alert to danger even when you are engaged in another activity, you can move stealthily at a normal pace (while alone), you find twice as much food while foraging, and while tracking creatures, you learn the exact number, sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.

track 9 + advantage
Stealth 24
OOC: I think Titus gets at least a +4 with advantage for tracking. The Favored enemy and natural explorer have a buff synergy imo so even a roll of 9 on D20 is more than good enough for you to keep track of Hobs fleeing carelessly in the woods. :)
As Kargan picks up the items he deems of worth and interest he notices a flash of gold from something under the Hobs leaders collar. Reaching in to grab the object he yanks it off the crude metal chain it was fastened to.
In his hand Kargan holds a guild insignia for the miners of the Dwarf Hold of Gǟthǫl Džörn...
"Och, there do I see my father, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers. There do I see the line of my people, back to the earthen times. By the line of my Clan, and all that have come before me, I will give you Vengeance, I swear this in the name of Dumathoin"
OOC: Oki doki Titus is continuing to follow the Hobs north and is now about 500 or so feet from the scene of the battle. Kargan and Breccha have searched everything and grabbed all the interesting loot. Kryinor is on the last leg of his heroic push back to camp. Eedim is still missing...
We'll collect the loot and head back to our original camp, looking for signs of Eedim along the way. i'll leave an obvious trail for titus to follow when he returns
Kargan and Breccha make their way back to camp. Heavy thoughts of sorrow and vengeance weigh down the stoic dwarf warrior as he blazes a good trail through the brush for Titus to find them again. The Barbarian strides confidently beside him, at home as only one born to the wilds can be in such an untamed landscape.
Titus tails the Hobgoblins, all of them moving northwards, they seem to relax a little now, thinking the safety of distance is theirs, unaware of the skillful wood-wise Elf watching. Soon The ranger can see the predawn light and notes movement in the underbrush around him. A familiar vulpine face appears through a thick fern. Titus recognises one of the wolves that accompanied Kryinor the day previous when he met them at camp. Two more wolves remain obscured moving in the woods around him.
Soon the smells of cooking and voices in the goblin tongue can be heard ahead in the direction that the retreating Hobs move. They take on an air of relief and confidence, and yet there is some apprehension, as no doubt some kind of reprimand or discipline awaits them for failure.
In the dark hours, dew laying cold and wet on the tall grass Kryinor moves into the eves of the Neverwinter woods. Soon he can see a bright fire burning with a Dwarf and Human sitting near it.
A warm voice in his mind sends greeting, "Welcome back brother, the forest has been busy while you were away." Moments later Blaze and some of his pack mates fall in beside Kryinor as he moves the last few hundred feet to the two leg camp.
" Here aswell?, It seems our enemies have a very long reach, indeed. I was ambushed by a worg and his 2 scaly pets on my return journey here, luckily the two leg pup was already home and safe when they found me. How did we fare here? Did we lose any of our pack?" Moving with abit more pace toward the camp to see if or how badly wounded Kargan and Breecha are.
Once in the camp I will shift back into Elven form and ask them what happened.
Smiling toothily at my furry shadows I motion to them putting my cupped hand to my hear and pointing in the direction of then goblins then motion with two fingers to my eyes and then again the goblins. I will then continue my stealthy advance to a position where I can see the goblin encampment.
"Wylcom Kriynor, a band o' Hobgoblins paid us a visit but they didnae enjoy our company!! Titus is off chasin' the few that got away. Eedim has gone missin' before the fight with the Hobs, so when ye catch yer breath, we need yer skills to track him."

After following the dwarf back to the camp I will attend to my would - washing and bandaging and welcome for the help of the druid.
short rest 11
OOC: Yeah Good idea. Sorry I didn't think of it. Everyone bar Titus can have a short rest!
Sorry Titus no rest for the wicked tracker :P
haha I have been very conscious of my Hp from the start of this! get some rest mortals. You are going to need it.
