(Does it not cool off in the evening? Also, how long does the single CON save roll last, since bathing to cool off would only have a benefit of 1d4 hours? This heat rule sure has been a pain in Gendan's ass.)
(The heat rule actually works on a day by day basis. That is, the single CON save lasts the entire day. You can always get rid of the disadvantage by taking your heavy armor off. Additionally, since the disadvantage is applied to attack rolls only, it doesn't really affect you unless you get into combat.)
Elyza starts ranting and explaining to Val how sweating is like a bodies natural cooling system that prevents the body from overheating and then dying. She also goes on to talk about the various organs in a elf body which have a role in removing waste and other toxic substances. This lecture continues for a good hour.
(The heat rule is actually based off the hot summers in my own country. When there's a heat wave, sometimes it doesn't get much cooler in the night as it was in the day. )
Valwarin listens and learns as much as he can, sharing his own knowledge, wich is pretty basic. His training were more concentrated on plants, animals, the rock, the wood and the wind. He is delighted to learn something new and to talk with her.
Well that's one way to solve the heat problem. However, when Elyza sees Gendan go for a second swim an hour later (I should mention that RP becomes pretty free form whenever you set up camp. Let me worry about the sequence of events and RP on!) she stops her lecture to tell the young half-elf, "Don't go into the water so much in the evening. You'll get sick!" before turning back to the elves to continue her lecture. While listening, it occurs to Val and Elsara (or if you decide the thought won't cross your character's mind, then it won't) that, even though the plague doctors cure diseases and save lives, their uniform looks quite intimidating rather than comforting.
"May I ask you a question Elyza?" asks Val to her. If she answers yes " What are the porpouse of your outfit? Now that I am talking to you I can see that you really care about the people you treat, and that you love your work with passion. Wouldn't be easier if you wear a more.. comfortable and reassuring outfit as a Plague Doctor? "
Elyza says, "I think you have the wrong idea. I'm passionate about my work. I want to unlock all the secrets of diseases and the living body. It is not that different to how some wizards seek to unlock the secrets of the universe. However, treating others is a way to further my research. If I find a cure for a disease, it means I have conquered a deadly foe that has slain many. My reward is a glimpse into the biological secrets that disease holds. As for what the garb does, it protects the wearer from diseases and poisons. A skilled plague doctor can use this garb to become completely immune to all diseases by infusing the materials with magical properties through alchemy. Master Cronomane said he would teach me how to do that next." She then pauses and says, "What makes the attire unnerving is the fact that it dehumanizes the wearer by concealing all their features. This is necessary in order to protect the wearer from infection. To use a more reassuring outfit and tools will mean a higher risk of infection."
"I see... so in order to protect yourself you have to... lose yourself in a way." he thinks for a few moments " The same thing occurs with your approach to your work I think. In order to have the meanings to heal people you are forgetting about the people. That's really interesting. And dangerous " he adds.
"But, changing the topic " says Valwarin " Mother Nature allows us to heal some diseases through her breath and touch, but she also created them, as she created the clouds and the seas. The diseases serve a porpouse. To thin the numbers of the animals. The wolves hunt the sick deer, and the healthy one survives and thrives, so the next generation of deers would be stronger... .and the cycle go on. If no deer would get sick, there would be too many, even for the wolves to hunt them, and they would eat all the grass in the ground, and other creatures will suffer famine and die, and the deers would destroy the trees with their antlers and looking for food, so there would be another animals also affected, for they wouldn't have grass to eat. Ultimately the predators who cannot hunt a deer will suffer not having food.
Yuo are going to provoque the exit of the circle of life.. are you sure? "
Elyza says, "There are more than diseases that kill things. Besides, many wizards in the past have tried to control the forces of the universe and others have tried to gain immortality. There are wizards like this in the present and there will be more wizards in the future. I do not see how my work is any different from that. As for your example, I see things in a different light. If the number of deer increases, then it is also safe to assume that the number of predators will also increase. Diseases don't just attack the deer, they also attack the wolves. Without disease, the growing number of deer would be controlled by the growing number of wolves. The abundance of food would mean even more young cubs survive. Then when the deer population decreases from being hunted, the wolves will starve and reduce their numbers as well."
I think the frequency of her wading is determined by when the heat becomes overwhelming (i.e., those times when she would have disadvantage on attacks), so she would go back in after one hour, then again every 1d4 hours until it either cools off or she goes to bed.
"What are you talking about is the natural flow of things as the Mother has saw good to be. The diseases are included in that natural flow. If we eliminate them altogether is like killing all the wolves or all the deers to prevent them to eat all the deers or all the grass. As long as we don't play to be gods, we can help the gods to make their work in the world. Just be mindful of this dear Elyza. I thank you for sharing your knowledge with me, it has been instructive."
That night Elyza will have a greater portion of the hunt as a simbol of appreciation without Val saying nothing to her.

Since the group had already made camp, Gendan would likely revisit the river many times during the evening, whenever the heat became overwhelming.

(will post Folkis interaction when I get time. 9er, just wait until winter kicks with the half naked bird)
Elsara will happily listen in to the free lecture, making mental notes for later.

So... will Gendan listen to Elyza's warning or still go swimming?
Gendan is not fully submerging in the water, simply wading and rinsing. Never went swimming.

Okay testing: 1
Gendan doesn't need to go to the river more than twice (in total)
