"Yeah, I concurr with Gaer, you said a really smart thing there. The wind started as soon as we opened the door so maybe closing it makes it stop. But I would leave a couple of us behind and try to open the door again, just in case in became stuck from the other side and we all find ourselves trapped... "
"When you grow up around orcs, you gotta' have some pretty good reflexes," Rash says with a smile. "And wrestling is pretty much mandatory. Anyhow, looks like he's fine, but that was a close one... maybe it would be safest to just have him curl up inside my pack for the time being..."

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
At Aidwyn's suggestion, Solitude volunteers: "I'll be the one outside the double doors... When it comes to dealing with threats, you're better prepared than I am. If you get stuck, I'll open the door for you. Just give me a Purple Flag, which I and those with me will share..."
Anita sighs: "Solitude's reasoning makes perfect sense... so, by that same reasoning, I'll be the other one standing outside the double doors with her. Even I'm less prepared than all of you. After all," she winks at the tiefling ex-prisoner "we are becoming great friends..."
Then, with three Kylth's Purple Flags shared, the rest of the party approaches the already open door. However, the room inside is bare, empty. A very unexciting discovery... None of you have actually gone in yet, but then again, why would you? There is absolutely nothing inside - just the walls, the ceiling and the floor.
"Well," Roxana starts. "Maybe the room used to have something in it long ago? Seems strange though." She pauses a moment taking in the room before suggesting, "Perhaps close this door and move on to the others? I'd guess the one opposite the open door would start to head back towards that big prison room. So try the other door first?"
'The other one' opens without problems and gives access to a corridor with a mosaic floor. The mosaic represents an eye with a lit candle above it.
The door in front, at the other side of the small corridor, looks like the first one and opens just as easily.
Opening this second door also reveals a large room with walls full of shelves with parchments and books in a bad state of conservation: all are covered in dust and cobwebs, and some of them are falling apart. The shelves that house the heavier tomes have developed evident cracks and are groaning under the weight of their dusty load. In the center of the room, there is a large oval table with writing material on it (three inkwells, a container with six quills, eight white parchments scattered around) and four chairs around it.
(OOC: Tzk tzk! Now that Mister_Whisker is organizing his own new campaign, Rash is kept in much lower consideration, I see... Poor wizard character... so much knowledge at his disposal and his player does not post... 😉)
"Perhaps..." Rash says, looking at the books almost lovingly.
But he knows better than to throw caution to the wind around here. He checks the bookshelves carefully to make sure there aren't any traps waiting to explode in his face as soon as he touches the shelves (Investigation: 24 by way of Nat 20!)

"Well, we can't be said to have shortchanged our good diviner now.," Spira says with a smile. "If these books are all what they appear. And since I look like the only one here at this point who won't widow somebody if anything goes wrong ... " She tips everyone a jaunty 'soldier of Arvandor' salute and steps in to investigate the room more closely, stretching her arms to go as far in as possible without becoming blinded by the mists of flaglessness.

Spira is the first to courageously volunteer for the dangerous task of examining the ancient texts. She thus discovers, among other things, that inside the room flaglessness does not seem to have any negative effects - or, at least, it does not seem to have any that are immediately obvious.
Unfortunately, however, for the tiefling's understanding of it, the texts contained in the room could very well be treatises on the positive virtues of Adran Liadon... Poor Spira is unable to grasp the full meaning of a single sentence after ten different texts tempted.
Rash, on the other hand, who collects the texts that Spira gradually discards and examines them, seems attentive and deeply interested... From the comments of the half-orc wizard during a first quick reading (a full reading of all text could last for a long time... perhaps even a few hours) it emerges that this appears to be the prison library. There are some books dedicated to extraplanar creatures, some focused on their characteristics in general, others on rituals to summon or banish them, others on methods for binding them, others, written by Kylth Harpell himself, on the benefits of robbing them of their 'essence' to increase one's own magical power.
"Oh, I didn't understand all the details of what Kylth Harpell was trying to do to us," moans Zentromya, in everyone's mind, learning the ultimate goal of the unscrupulous wizard who had founded the place "but I realized he was blinded by the lust for power... A power that he felt was his due, but at the same time far from his reach. So, instead of trying to improve himself... he looked for questionable shortcuts. Which led him to his well deserved end. Poor soul! Evil has no mercy on anyone, not even on those it manages to seduce".
Rash also notes that not all writings contain true or valuable information (some contain information that clearly contrasts with well-established arcane knowledge - and verified at the time by Rash himself) - and some have deteriorated over time. Also for this reason, the assimilation of all the useful knowledge contained in these texts will require careful and critical reading. Of course, however, the amount of actually useful information obtainable from these texts promises to be remarkable...
Do you intend to stop here in the library for a few hours to read the different texts, in the hope that what you learn will be immediately useful to you? Or do you prefer to dedicate yourself to potentially quicker tasks first, so as not to have to wait so long?
"His end?, Spira asks quickly, obviously grateful to have something specific to focus on after the whirl of information overload the books reduced her mind to. "What happened to him, Zentromya? Do you know? If it happened here, there might be residual energies we need to beware of. If not, though, this might be a good place to collect what we learn and gain together. Perhaps even run over it quickly to make sure we don't ... miss anything again. Or need to stop something blowing up." She turns to Rash. "And do you think we should try to quickly copy some of the more important passages? I'm not sure what will happen to all these ancient tomes when we take them out of the timeless if slightly malfunctioning magic of this place."

I think Rash would prefer not to leave Anita and Solitude alone that long... mostly because monsters might show up, but even if they've kind of come to an understanding he's still a little concerned that one of them might say something that sets the other off. For the time being, he'll pack up the books that seem to be the most important for further study later. They can cart out the remaining books once they have finished exploring this pit.
"Fascinating stuff in here," the half-orc remarks, carefully flipping through one of the ancient tomes. "Though... if I'm being honest, I think some of this is knowledge that maybe shouldn't see the light of day. Hopefully the diviner is a really swell guy who knows better than to start delving into the same stuff that Kylth did..."
Rash shudders at the possibility as he tucks the tome away.
"Alright, let's reunite with the ladies we put in charge of guarding the door... leaving them alone together too long probably isn't a great idea, even if they are starting to get along better now."
In answer to Spira's question:
"I don't think the books will disintegrate the instant that we move them. But it might be worthwhile to take some notes once we get them upstairs."
"Probably you shouldn't give that diviner that kind of information after all Rash... " says Aidwyn holding the door open for the others to go out " I trust you but not sure if I trust others with that knowledge. What you all are saying sounds pretty horrific... " she points to the last door " Maybe we should check that last one?"she suggests
"I told 'his end' because I really don't believe Kylth survived, Spira..." Zentromya responds with her telepathy, including everyone in the conversation "Ekandre, the escaped prisoner was clearly superior to him - the flashes of battle I saw from my cell gave me the impression that Ekandre was toying with him, keeping him as the last to be killed so that he would witness the destruction of what he had worked so hard to create. When they finally left my field of vision, it was Kylth, rather than the prisoner, the one who was trying to escape. But I doubt he made it. And not just because of the disparity in power... If he had actually succeeded, wouldn't he have returned, sooner or later? Instead, I never saw him again. And I guess Ekandre made sure no one will ever see him again".
Regarding the debate on the fate of the knowledge contained in the library, Zentromya does not take part... but Gaer does: "Maybe we could sell the 'fascinating stuff', at least... while for the 'knowledge that shouldn't see the light of day', we just need to prepare a bonfire outside and the problem will be easily solved".
In the end, two different suggestions remain... Rash who proposes to reunite with the ladies and Aidwyn who proposes to check the last door.
"I like your idea of the bonfire Gaer"adds Aidwyn "But this kind of knowledge could be useful in the right hands, if nothing for being able to recognize when someone is trying to replicate it and know how to stop them. And I really think that Rash qualifies as 'the right hands' "
Rash can't help but blush a bit when Aidwyn says that his hands are 'the right hands' for the most dangerous of the tomes.
"I appreciate how much faith you have in me," he says with a smile. "But let's make a decision about what to do with these tomes after I've had a bit more time to really look through them. Some of them might genuinely be dangerous enough to warrant complete destruction, but I don't want to make the decision to throw away knowledge on a whim."

Gratz on Investigation! Rash doesn't detect any threat... but I'm asking you an Arcana check also, as he starts examining the texts.
...and a second Nat 20 (total 24)! Lol
(Also, I realized that I actually rolled Arcana the first time as well... not that it really matters since Rash has the same bonus for both skills).
