Tarysaa finally catches her breath. "You yelled fireball and that's what I THOUGHT was in there. But, if it was, it would have been smaller and exploded by now. Some kind of animated fire sentinel? An elemental? I really do NOT have much practical experience with any of those things." She frowns, "Perhaps a mystery for another time? Should we back up and try another way? What say the party?"
Now that she has the time to reflect, Tarysaa can try an Arcana check for clues about what that flaming ball was.
Clas's hazel eyes shift from person to person as his mind races with questions. "Daisy," he begins, turning to the nature-inclined member of the party, "do you reckon this could be some kind of fire sprite? And Ardana, what if it's undead, hiding a flaming skull underneath all that fire?"
As he continues, "And here's the puzzling bit: why hasn't it turned this door into kindling yet? Why's it just hanging out, not making a move? If we triggered some sort of spell trap, why didn't it toast the door?" Clas's brows furrow as he contemplates the situation.
His hand remains on the door, and he taps it gently as he speaks. "Do you think we could have a chat with this fiery fellow?" Clas suggests, his tone tinged with a mixture of hope and humor. "And another thing, folks—what if this fiery thing is actually a guardian of sorts? Guarding what? An empty room? Could there be something hidden in there, just waiting for the right folks to come along?"

Never underestimate the power of a finely crafted barrel, my friend! It is both a vessel of strength and a symbol of resilience.
Now that she has her breath back and is calming down, her mind races through all she absorbed in her college classes. One bit of data after another pop to the forefront of her mind and as quickly rejected as she works on recalling every bit that she can... knowing if she is wrong, people will die.
Daisy steps around the corner and shrugs. "You ask a lot of good questions there, Clas. But I didn't get a good look at it and I haven't had any dealings with any kind of fire spirits. So I couldn't say.
"Maybe we should be more careful going through here. Doesn't seem like these flags are going to protect us from everything. Anyone got a keen eye for checking for traps and other things out of the ordinary?"

Tarysaa >> ARCANA Check >> 19
The excellent education provided by the University of Silverymoon kicks in!
The excellent education provided by the University of Silverymoon once again provides food for thought to the elf wizard. Tarysaa has in fact heard of a not too complex spell capable of creating a self-propelled fireball like the one she saw... In fact, now that she thinks about it, in the pyromancy class the teacher had also summoned one to make it see the students and demonstrate its use and limitations live! And yes, she looked exactly the same! It had to be a Flaming Sphere!
Now, well, there are differences, still... There was no one in the room to summon it... And the duration of the spell is usually not hundreds of years... And the sphere should be moved by the caster's will... But, who knows? If indeed this dungeon belonged to Kylth Harpell, he surely would have had the skills to develop an improved version of the spell… perhaps one that gives the flaming orb some form of scripted intelligence.
"Nimblestep, my clever friend," he addresses with a grin, "you've got a mind that dances around obstacles like a shadow. Any ideas on how we might outwit this fiery enigma? I've got a feeling you've got something up your sleeve that might just do the trick."

“Well Clas I am of the strong opinion that an obstacle that can be avoided is therefore no longer an obstacle… we’ll I guess I could attempt to touch it and see if it means harm?”
Nim gesticulates in the air until a spectral blue hand in a cartoonish glove appears above him giving off a faint light. Gesturing he moves it above and pats the group towards the door and says…
”Okay step back and be careful everyone, Clas maybe be ready to slam the door shut just in case…”
He then steps to the front of the queue leaving Clas close behind him and standing 10ft away from the door allows the ‘Mage hand’ to open the door a crack and slip through as soon as it fits. Once in (and obviously out of Nim’s sight) he commands it to wave and feel around just inside the door, anticipating a reaction from the ball of fire that’s supposedly on the other side of the door.
As soon as Nim's magical hand enters, the hug-thirsty flaming sphere rolls towards it - and the door. You can feel the heat of the fire now... but Clas is ready and shuts down the door before anybody gets hurt.
Tarysaa has been muttering nonstop since she did her initial 'fireball run.' Her internal 'notes' on each of her classes was coming up empty. And yet, she KNEW she should know something. 'Fire. Pyromancy. Flaming Balls. heh... that would make a good swearing phrase. wait...'
Suddenly, her internal dialogue became a rush of words, Tarysaa was almost jubilant with her finally 'knowing.' "Our pyromancer instructor showed us how to create a movable fireball and demonstrated it's uses and downsides. But... it's been 250 years since the time of Kylth Harpell. Flaming Sphere only lasts a limited time. And there was no one in the room to cast it OR direct it. DId Harpell discovery some means of giving a flaming sphere some form of rudimentary intelligence; not unlike his animated armour? How did he keep it burning and active so long?"
Tarysaa nearly threw up her hands in frustration. So many questions which keep leading to even more questions and minimal answers. Looking around at the party, she stops and blushes bright red, realizing she babbled most of that outloud instead of internally.
Hahahaha! Great! You said it normally doesn’t last forever. If we triggered it by opening the door and Nim concentrates on his blue hand. We might actually exhaust it. We only need to wait a few minutes and check. Hahahaha! .

(OOC: Clas will wait about 5 minutes. He's anxious to get in there! Hahahaha!)
While we're at it. We've already seen one illusion in this place. Is it possible for an illusion to make us see a fire and feel the heat from a fire? We could see and hear the waiter. But Nim's hand went through his back. Hahahaha! But when I opened the door for Nim's hand to go in, I could feel heat? I wouldn't have expected that if it was an illusion.

Clas actually felt the heat of the Flaming Sphere when it got close to him and he had to close the door in a hurry... Could it be an illusion that has a thermal component? Or a real threat?
However, when the warrior reopens the door after 5 minutes, he sees that the Flaming Sphere has returned to its original starting corner, but it's still there, burning... and ready to roll! In fact she immediately begins to roll towards the door (but this time Clas knew very well what he could expect and is ready - if he wants to close the door again, he manages to do it in time).
"Well, you seem pretty determined to get in there,"Daisy begins, nodding toward the room. "What if we let it out and it could chase some of us them while others check out the room..? There's that part of the hall that looked like where those suits of armor were waiting where we could run the fire in a circle."
Hahahaha! I like your spirit, Daisy. If you all go hide around the corner. I’ll try to get it to follow me back to the circle. Up to the party though. We call it quits and move on presuming nothing of importance is in there.. it did appear to be an empty room, or we figure out how to beat this thing. Hahahaha!
