Grymar shouts “Noooo!” as he sees and feels Berkerak slip by him. He stretches and holds onto the rope, moving further south to try and grab hold of Lehmani. “I gotcha, come here, to me!” He holds the rope for an anchor and reaches for her… with Zubien’s help holding the rope, he’s able to make an extra lunge to grab her…..
Grymar - You feel Berkarak's hand touch yours as he desperately reaches out to you but you're unable to grab a hold of one another. Berkarak flounders in the rushing water and disappears over the edge of the waterfall. You barely have time to react before Lehmani slides within your reach. Leaning out further you try to grab her hand but miss! Your hand closes around one of her horns instead, allowing her the chance to reach up and grab your arm. Together, along with Zubien holding the rope, you're able to back away from the waterfall to the non-slimy area to the north.
Kalhala - You dive into the water and immediately lose your footing on the slick stones. You fall backwards into the rush, sliding headfirst over the edge of the waterfall into the darkness.

Zubien, Grymar, and Lehmani - You catch your breath after the effort of hauling Lehmani away from the waterfall. You see no sign of Berkarak nor Kalhala.
Lehmani catches her breath. It takes her a moment to realize she's no longer cascading to her death. Finally, she turns to Grymar, touching her horns and says, "Thank you, friend. I've always had a bit of a mixed relationship with these things but today.... I'm quite grateful they're there."
Looking toward the watefrall, she's speechless for a moment, shaking her head in disbelief... "Berkark and Kalhala... They're not..." She turns back to the others, unable to finish the sentence. "They can't be, right?"

Zubien tries to look over the edge, to see how far it goes. "We have our ropes, we can climb down to investigate (assuming that passage just above is heads down with the arrow. We can use the rope as a safety line, so we don't slip)
Grymar pants, breathing heavy as he pulls Lehmani up, but he’s tearful and frustrated. “I couldn’t get them. I tried, they went over! Ah ye Gods, I wasn’t strong enough!” He pulls himself up to the dry area, looking to the east, seeing the stairs down, and concurs with Lehmani. “No ropes. Let’s go down those stairs. Likely we’ll find where it drops to. Righ?” He unties the rope from looping around the piton and gives it back to Zubien. He walks that way and begins down if the others agree.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
All - The downward stairs head slightly eastward as they go, descending roughly 60ft before opening up into a cavern. A loud waterfall spills down the northwest wall of this cavern into a deep pool. The rocky walls glisten with spray, and a weird array of colorful minerals and strange lichens lend an unearthly beauty to this spot. A fast-moving stream runs south from the pool at the base of the falls, and a nearby natural passage heads in the same direction. A set of narrow stairs cut into the rock wind up to the north, and two old wooden doors stand in a wall of dressed stone to the east. In the pool you see Berkarak and Kalhala, both standing, though looking exhausted and injured.
Kalhala - Whatever is moving in the water nearby moves toward you and suddenly you're grabbed by it. You just barely hear Berkarak shouting your name above the cacophony of falling water. You're soaked from head to toe and find that your dagger and one of your handaxes were lost in the fall.
Berkarak - Your glasses were lost in the fall, but your spare pair are blessedly still in your pack. One of your daggers is also missing and most of your crossbow bolts were lost in the fall as well, leaving you with 3.
Kalhala hears his name from Berkarak.. but then... what has grabbed him?!
He yelps and tries to shake loose whatever has him in the water. The torch light coming from Zubien is a very welcome relief as he focuses on what is in the water.
After getting help out of the water, Berkarak goes to adjust his spectacles and realizes they have gone missing. In a panic, he rifles through his pack, not to find his spare pair of glasses (which he does find and puts on his face to help him search), but to find the two books he carries. (Investigation (disadvantage) and too panicked to cast guidance: 17) Are they ruined?
not really sure the roll is useful here, but wanted to try out the new disadvantage ;)
Whatever their state, Berkarak returns them to his pack and then grins widely at his friends, who are all alive, along with himself. Intentionally betraying his fright behind the false bravado: "It'll take more than a terrifying fall into a black abyss of unknown depth and danger to kill us, right Kal?"
Grymar goes running up to the edge of the pool, saying “Sorry, sorry fellers, couldn’t grab ya. Too damn slippery up there. We came down the slow way…“ he says, pointing at the stairs. “Need a hand?”

Berkarak - The state of the books depends on how they were stored. Would you have thought to take extra care to wrap them in a spare cloak or article of clothing as a precaution against moisture? You can make a WIS Insight check to see if you'd have had the foresight, I'll let you decide upon the DC.
Zubien - The light doesn't reveal any obvious threats in the immediate area but you see that the rocky walls glisten with spray, and a weird array of colorful minerals and strange lichens lend an unearthly beauty to this spot. I think it's a character trait that Berkarak would care for the books, but I'll roll anyway as, in his haste post-rest and getting ready for adventure, he may not have taken as much care as normal. (Insight: 15) Whew, they're fine. :)
Kalhala - Please make a DC 12 Dex Acrobatics check.
