Normont is wary as they descend, and the heat starts to make him perspire slightly. He is also more than a little put off by the smell of cooking meat.
As Dev points out the consoles, screens and large silver mirror, he frowns, surveying what is I front of him and trying to piece it all together with what he knows.
"This is definitely what we have been looking for, Lokilia", he says then cocks his head slightly as he thinks. "I hope to be able to turn the controls back on and stop whatever process is summoning those creatures, although if it will work I cannot say".
He looks closely at the mirror, "Perhaps this mirror has something to do with the summoning. Might it be a portal of some kind", he mutters. "Yes Quinn, do stand guard, but put as much attention on this mirror as from elsewhere as it may be how those creatures are getting here".
"Amber, you watch the mirror too", he adds in gnomish.
With that said, he looks to try and work out how the console works without making things worse, including attempting to fix any crystals he thinks are important. He will of course look to use the rod and the crystals he found once he is as sure as he can be that it is safe to do so.
Dev is as fascinated by Normont’s scientific approach as he is by their surroundings, and he can’t help but stand close and offer assistance (Help) to Normont’s efforts.
Normont does his best to restore a number of the less shattered crystals, others are broken into many pieces and it is almost impossible to tell which piece belongs to which crystal. Looking into the bag there are a few crystals there that seem as if they are somewhat similar to the broken ones...
Nothing happens with the panel until he slides the rod into the socket and turns it, the screens turn blue and a large number of words and numbers run across the screen depicting seeming gibberish before the screen becomes a simple white field with four squares upon it.....there are words upon it in what he assumes is Draconic but after repeating the movements he used upstairs they become a somewhat archaic form of Common.
The four squares are:- Servitor Functions, Engineering, Database Functions and Security Protocols.
Database Functions and Servitor Functions are greyed out.....perhaps due to missing crystals?
"Maybe you have a crystal that you could substitute for the broken ones," Lokilia suggests. "Although that Security Protocols kind of sounds like the sort of thing that is giving is all the trouble."This machine stuff is not really anything she knows about, so besides the simple suggestion she has little else to offer.
"Good thinking, Lokilia", Normont says. "Security Protocols and Servitor Functions both sound promising. Would you take a look in here for crystals that are a match and complete?", he asks handing her the bag.
Whilst she hopefully does that, he presses the square for Security Protocols.
Dev is fascinated both by the devices and Normont and Lokilia’s interchange. But a question nags at him.
“Servitor Functions, Engineering, Database Functions and Security Protocols… is this really a ‘prize’ worth, like, dying for? Why are the Dwendalians and…,” he chokes back the name of his dead friend, “and everyone so interested in this? A library, half-shattered to bits? It’s crazy.”
"I believe this is just the control console, Dev. The library itself is accessed by all the screens we passed, we just didn't have the right access. Perhaps we can fix that here, but I am not sure yet", Normont replies.

Normont presses the square and the screen changes bringing up a list on the left hand side with toggles to the right of each entry-
Exterior Lock- Disengaged.
Password Privileges- Engaged ( Password Required)
Two-Step Indentification- Disengaged
Lethal Countermeasures- Disengaged
Level Lock Protocol- Disengaged
Manual Access- Engaged
Non-Lethal Countermeasures- Disengaged
Dimensional Vault- Engaged ( Password Required)
As Lokilia searches through she finds a selection of crystals that seem to closely match the broken ones and slots them in place leading to the entire panel humming slightly and other screens on the level activating. She also finds a small scrap of parchment within the bag that says ' Halas69'.
Normont scans the list of options in the security protocols menu.
"Lethal and non-lethal countermeasuers are disengaged, so these creatures are not part of the tower security response", he says as he goes. "Dimensional Vault? If these creatures are coming from the Abyss, which may well come under the banner of a different dimension, then that could be what has allowed them to appear".
At this point, the extra crystals Lokilia adds cause the system to power up further.
"Excellent, Lokilia. That seems have to done something at least. Now, Dimensional Vault requires a password...", he says disappointed, not knowing about the parchment Lokilia found yet.
As he ponders the lack of a password he absently adds, "Be careful, Quinn. We might just have attracted more creatures".
"Maybe the password is like, 'Dark Tower,' or 'Chysanthemum,' or... or... 'Abra-cadabra'?," Dev says enthusiastically, remembering secret phrases in books he has read.
"Wait," Lokilia says. "There is a paper here in the bag. It says 'Halas69'. Could that be the password?" She grabs the slip and hands it over to Normont to look at.
"Nuts and bolts, you are right that does sound bad", Normont exclaims and presses the cancel button.
"Although I do wonder whether it is designed to handle these abyssal creatures. Why else would you keep something like that locked up and a process for a biological purge? I suppose the trick would be to find somewhere safe whilst the purge happens. And on the plus side, we know the password works", he adds thoughtfully.
He looks for a help button, or manual, that might further explain the biological purge function.
If nothing presents itself, he will navigate back to the main menu and see if Servitor Functions and Database Functions options are now available. He will select Servitor Functions if he can.

Normont types in the code and the screen begins to flash red and black.
Numbers appear in the corner of the screen slowly counting down to 0 from 10.
A panel appears in the middle of the screen- Dimensional Vault Disengaged- Press to cancel biological Purge - Skittering Horror release imminent.
"Cancel biological purge!" Lokilia calls out as she watches Normont work. "I don't like the sound of skittering horror."
