Jerry covers his mouth with his hand and heads behind the desk to fetch the scroll.
He hands it to Dev and takes up the diamond.
" Ok. I may regret this but I'll take the diamond as full payment, nothing further to pay."
" I await your return with good news.......now, please leave before my boss teleports in and I have to explain how you have that."
“Oh!,” Dev responds, wide-eyed, “that’s… that’s amazing. Thank you so much! I’ll be back as soon as I can. Wow, thank you!…” Dev needs to be escorted from the premisses as he cranes his neck to continue offering sincere thanks.
“Quinn, will you keep me company outside?,” he asks on the way out. When he gets outside, he takes a breath and stows the valuable scroll in his backpack.
Does Dev have an idea of where Balaran might be? Am I remembering correctly that he was going to be a guest at a party at the castle tonight?
During Normont's search, to his surprise he comes across an all-purpose tool. He looks down to the price, knowing he is unlikely to be able to afford such an item, and reads 247.
Lokilia glances at the items, noting a Cloak of Protection. Checking the price, it is: 239
Unsure about that, she looks around for any magical armor. She looks to see if there is any Serpent Scale Armor. (Price if available - 261, this is basically Scale Mail that removes DEX bins limit (which doesn't help Lokilia, and removes Stealth Disadvantage. Picking this more for flavor to not have metal armor. We'll see what the roll is, but it shouldn't be too expensive vs. the armor cost)
Lokilia decides to take the Cloak of Protection, pays Jerry, and moves on outside.
"At some point I should find better armor. At the least some nice hides rather than this leather. You suppose anywhere makes chain or scale that doesn't involve metal?" She glances at Dev as she comes over, "You should have looked at the stuff in there. There might have been some interesting trinket or something you could have used. Although, you did get the scroll? Perhaps our next step should be going somewhere where we can try to use that?"
Normont nods in agreement to Lokilia's suggestion that they should go somewhere to use the scroll.
"Yes, that was well done, Dev. Bartering for the scroll. I am keen to find out what it says. Shall we return my workshop, or head to where your friend Balaran is staying?", he asks, letting Dev make the decision.
"Unless either one of you does want to check out the wares in the shop?", he adds, looking to Quinn as well.
“You might not have heard Jerry when he asked me to leave quickly. It was actually a kindness. I think… he was close to changing his mind and needed me to be out of sight. Thank you though Lokilia, I know you’re looking out for me by asking. But I think when I come back with word from Balaran I can look at the store’s offerings then.”
”Normont, I think we should go to your workshop. Balaran is at a, like a dinner party?, tonight. I can leave him a note and talk to him tomorrow about bringing Jerry to his studio. I just hope these papers hold a useful clue, worth 1000 gold pieces.” Dev shakes his head. It still hadn’t sunk in that he found a gem worth more than everything his parents had ever earned and held the gem in his hand. And now, just like that, it had gone again.
He holds the spell scroll — the most expensive thing by far he has ever bought —reverently, with greatest care.

“Of course.” Quinn will walk with Dev.
( Correct. Well, more a gathering than a party but same-same.)

Normont's jaw drops as he realises he can indeed afford the all-purpose tool. He picks it up and hurries over to Jerry, a wide grin on his face.
"I would like to purchase this, if you please", he says quickly.
(Are we all getting items?)
( If you wish....Devs not cos he already left.)
(Quinn said he would go with Dev so I am not picking anything up)
