I know, I didn't gloss over it. But resolving your action would probably not have let anything happen in the laboratory. But now that Kat and Rindelk have found the books and Leek has talked to a rat...
Kitryn opens the door to the next room...
The walls of this bedchamber are covered with drapes of scarlet cloth. The furnishings include a small writing desk with matching chair, a comfortable-looking bed, and a wooden chest at the foot of the bed. The wooden chest has toppled over and is spilling its contents; gems and coin. The papers on the desk look scattered and one is on the floor nearby.
You don't detect any magic inside the laboratory, but you do know that the stone walls are thick enough to block the spell. If you meant in Glasstaff's quarters, then let me know if you enter that room.
I ask the rat to lead me to the long passage leading to the woods and immediately after I ask Droop if he knows what passage the rat is talking about. (in case the rat refuses).
DM: As a Dire wolf I have enhanced smell. Would that help me track G? If so, then I would turn back into a DIrewolf, smell his sheets to get a good sent of him, and then lead everyone to G (assuming him having a good lead on means we would probably lose him in the forest anyway...)
Soooooooo if the answer is yes, then I will give Droop a trigger warning that I will be changing into a wolf and then do so, go smell the sheets and run to track G.
Tracking someone would be Survival, but being a Dire Wolf and using smell, you'd get advantage. So if you change back into Dire Wolf and head to the south tunnel to track, roll a Survival with advantage.
There's a chest at the foot of the bed that has been knocked over, and some gems are spilling out of it. That is very likely what you heard. There are also stacks of papers on the desk that are in disarray and a couple sheets are have also fallen onto the floor nearby.
If you want to find anything more specific, you need to specify what you are looking for.
WAIT A SEC... We heard the chest get tipped over? So the guy was in there just recently? Where did he go out? I bet the secret tunnel leads down into the Nothic's gutter as well as to the other room. Regardless...
"Droop. I will change back into a wolf again. Make sure you follow."
Leek turns back into a Dire Wolf. He goes and smells the chest and bed to get the scent of G. I will roll survival in the room to see if I can get an idea of where he went (i.e. if he went out a secret door or went out the main door.)
Ok, so survival is not a skill the dire wolf has. Sooooooo I will make two rolls. You pick which one is good. Dire wolf has +3 perception (so I will make a +3 perception roll at advantage) AND Leek has +4 survival (So I will make +4 survival roll at advantage).
Dire wolf Leek smells the bedding to get an 'image' of the smell. However, the whole room reeks of that smell. You could maybe sniff at specific exits to get a sense if the smell is recent or old at that exit, but until you leave the room by the appropriate exit you can't begin to 'track'.
As you sniff about and seem uncertain, the rat squeeks and squawks at you again, "Fastest way out is the way you came. Go that way, get ahead!"
I'm not sure which action you do in what order... search the walls or attack the rat. So to make both possible:
The rat, which is bravely squeaking and squawking at Leek's Dire Wolf form doesn't seem to anticipate your attack and when you hit it, it disappears without even a drop of blood on your sword. You stand there puzzled.
You return to the room and search the walls and easily find the secret door in the north east corner. The door wasn't completely closed, making it easy to find. There's nothing else of consequence in the room.
As Kitryn opens the secret door to let Dire Wolf Leek into the secret passage, the door swings wide open and a loud man clutching a glass staff and some scrolls steps into the room speaking, "My esteemed guests, I apologize for not being there to welcome you upon your arrival. I was undisposed and had some pressing business to finish," he says, pointing over his shoulder and closing the secret door behind him.
"I trust the good gentlemen in my employ have been courteous?"
Glasstaff looks at Kitryn, the heads of the bugbears and the Nothic, "Surely one with orcish blood such as yourself must be acquainted with creatures such as those to know neither of those are 'men'. I'd wager I am much more civil than yourself, bringing unpleasant business such as that, " pointing at the heads, "into my presence. And no, none of those were 'mine'."

At first glance, no one is in the room.
Can Rin detect any magic?

OOC: You already know about the tunnel leading to the forest. You went through it once already. If you insist, the rat will lead you.
I figured it was that one. I just wasn't sure if there was a secret tunnel from G's room.
Let's get the F-er!!!!

while leek is busy talking to the rat, i'm going into the room. we just heard something from there. what does my passive perception reveal

Dire wolf perception 15
Leek survival 19

"well there was a door in the hall, must be another in the room, search the walls behind the drapes. this guys didn't just walk past us.. unless"
i will walk back out... and attack the rat.
Attack: 5 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Attack: 23 Damage: 5

I go into the secret door to sniff around and start to track.

"I trust the good gentlemen in my employ have been courteous?"
"these 'men' you mean?" i say and present the contents of the cape ie, bugbear and nothic heads.
"we found their manner a bit rude, and undertook to discipline them."
"i expect we can find you more civil."
OOC: How do we know if he's being deceptive?
Roll an insight check.
