The party proceeds east and walks down a hallway heading northward to enter into another large chamber.
A blast furnace and a mechanical bellows powered by a waterwheel dominate this large chamber. The furnace is cold and dark, but heaps of coal are piled nearby, along with carts full of unrefined ore. The waterwheel sits in a ten-foot-wide channel cut into the floor of the room, but the channel is dry. Passages exit to the west, south, and east. The empty channel exits to the north and east.
More than a dozen withered corpses are scattered around the room. These slain dwarves and orcs are still wearing the remnants of their armor. Floating above them is a skull engulfed in green flame.
Blazing green flames and mad, echoing laughter follow a disembodied skull as it patrols the chamber. "I defend this chamber!" it screeches between the fits of laughter.
Katerielle recalls lore about dead wizards brought back to undeath as floating skulls with simple tasks, like guarding a place or a thing. They tend to be chaotic and uncontrollable even by their creators. However they do perform the task they were raised to do.
Katerielle is pretty sure Elila's attempts to persuade the thing will not work, and the more time you spend in its presence, the more likely you will get a fireball to the face.
Katerielle slowly puts her hand on Elila's shoulder. "It is an autonomous Undead construct, it can't be reasoned with and we are not prepared to take it out if it was powerful in life. Let's back up to the other room and discuss or pick another route. We can come back to this at the end. It shouldn't leave the room." She will inform the group then begin slowly and quietly backing out of the area.
(Detect Magic has a 30 foot radius. That will barely go into the room ahead (from where you are). Do you want to cast it still, and do you want to move to the front to get into the room to cover more area with the spell? I put a 30 ft aura around your character in Roll20 so you can visually see what I mean.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing Rindelk move forward while everyone else is moving back, she will stop and tap Elila on the shoulder so that Elila is aware the situation is changing. Then Katerielle will get her bow ready trying to use Elila for cover to conceal what she is doing.
Elila heeds Katarielle's warning and backs further into the hall (5 feet) away from the entrance to the room. She readies her shield but does not draw her sword or make threatening moves. Knowing her reserves are low, she's willing to let somebody else make poor choices. "Friend Katarielle said that thing was dangerous, you can go along and play with it if you wish."

Katerielle will study the skull to see if she recognizes what it is. "Does anyone have a detect magic?", she asks quietly.

I want to cast detect magic, get more of a clue what's going on here.

Move into the room.

Hearing the warnings, instead, I opt to send klednir forward to scout.
Rindelk elects to not lead a charge into potential hostiles and sends his familiar eagle instead. Klednir flies into the room, up in the air with the floating skull surrounded by green flame. The skull laughs maniacally and fires two rays of fire at the intruder...

That could have been quite - disasterous. Nods approvingly at Elila.
Katerielle will begin backing towards the ghoul room once more. So long as the skull doesn't attack anyone else.

I'm assuming a toad can't swallow an undead floating skull of death...
