Kitryn, earnest to ambush the ruffians as they leave, speaks a bit too loudly. Down below in the cellar, you all here "Oh shit! They're coming back. Get out of here, now!" You all hear a barrel fall over and the scuffling of feet on stone.
How far is the drop down? Can I jump and make a superhero landing, or do I have to run down the stairs? Can we see where they are scrambling to from where we are?
To save time, here are possible actions depending on what we can see.
1. If I can jump down without getting hurt or risk losing an action, I will. Otherwise I will run down the stairs.
2. If I can get at least within 10 feet of the ruffians, I want to cast Earth Tremor. It causes them to have to make a Dex save or fall prone.
3. If 2 can't work, then: If I can see where the ruffians are heading and they are within 30 feet, I will cast Minor Illusion to create the muffled sound of the creature (so it seems like it is further past them) say "Yeeesssss, come to me. I wish to feed" (so say they are running back into the room they locked themselves in, I would send an illusion sound coming from the room and it be muffled, so it seems like the creature is a bit further in the room. I wish to do this so they think twice about running in whatever direction they are going to give the team a chance to catch up to them.)
4. If item 3 is not possible, then I will just use the attack I rolled earlier.

Leek runs down into the cellar and once through the door sees two ruffians carrying torches, running up towards him. He immediately casts earth tremor at one of them.

The ruffian falls flat on his face as the stone shifts beneath his face.
Kitryn dances around (over really) Leek and pounces on the ruffian that is prone on the landing. The ruffian - panicking - squirms and rolls around randomly, hoping to avoid the blows it fears are aimed at him.
Kitryn's first strike hits the armor but doesn't punch through. Her second strike misses completely.

As Leek takes the initiative to enter the room i follow, upon seeing the ruffian fall i chose my target and set an attack upon the prone individual
