Mira Insight: 16 (1st roll: 5)
The bunny girl is taken aback when Maya suddenly guards the door and maintains a threatening position. She holds up her hands. "Ok, ok. Fine. We won't go in there then. No need to threaten us. Keep all the secrets however you want, lady, but I'd preferred if you could help us turn over a new leaf." She sighs in defeat and backs away, taking a moment to glance at Renar every once in a while as if she's still waiting for an answer. Unless if course... if either Alex, Shugo or Venet are still insisting on barging through, she won't take the lead.
Whist she does raise her eyebrows over the printing press that Elsa retrieved, Mira isn't that fazed for the time being yet. Instead, she then goes over the documents that Maya passed her. Yeah sure, most of them belong to Vuijca Simic, no surprise there... a riddle. Did they have to use a password? And then she widens her eyes again after spotting one detail embedded in one of the letters.
Wait... the subjects that are being mentioned... foxes... domestication... the subjects used to create an army of super soldiers... transfer to another facility... Is that what those two are so scared of?! Domesticated, super soldier foxes... which means... No way... Weren't they all wiped out though?! "Wait... guys... check this out... don't punch any buttons yet. I think I know why Renar and... Maya... are...!" If anyone approaches her, they can already see a mixture of fear and excitement shambling her face. Just over this one letter that Maya handed to her. Whilst Elsa and Simo did hit a jackpot on their end, to Mira, it seems like from the notes they retrieved, the oddball pair are in fact, hiding an even bigger jackpot.
"Hey Venet? Are you even-" Maya wanted to ask her, only to hear a sudden creak in the door plus Maya screaming to open the door up to let Renar out. She presses on the door and finds that someone locked it. "That little rat...! It must be Renar who locked the door ain't it! He's hiding something! HEY! OPEN UP OR WE'LL COAT YOUR ENTIRE DISGUISE IN ICE OR FIRE OR WHATEVER! JUST OPEN UP YOU DIM WITTED ODDBALL!"
"Sooo.... What's going on in there, Maya? You look worried?"
"It must be Renar who locked the door! Do you have anything you can use to bust it down?! We're staging the raid this instant!" Mira snarls furiously, oblivious as to what was going on. But then she freezes.
"Wait... v-v-viruses? For war?"Mira asks stunned. "What are you getting onto...?"
However, unless if Venet responds, her question remains unanswered when she hears the sound of a metal pipe splitting into two, plus Renar storming out of the room with a sour look. "Alright, fess up, oddball. What did you- Hey?!" Mira yells as she gets outright ignored. She then gives Maya a rather bewildered stare. What did they actually see that neither hersefl nor the rest want to know about? "Aren't you gonna do something about him? Seriously what's up with your 'guardian's' behaviour?!"Mira asks Maya as she points to him. She look at Venet, wondering if they should really bust down the door for real to see what those two have hidden, though she thinks that might leave her open to Maya if she does. Unless of course... if Maya cannot understand her or anyone besides him... She won't know what she would be up to next... right?
"He locked it?"she asks, confused. Why would he need to lock it? "Ah.. for the last one? I think they used it..."
"Guys, we're a team. We can't be hiding stuff from each other."
The two kitsunes listen in silence, and after Renar is done, Rei puts his sword back in its sheath, his ears still pointing backwards. "Don't use trauma as an excuse not to do the right thing, Renar. Our planet, our rules, if you don't do what society tells you to do, then you don't deserve to be here." He points at him, "If you and that lady don't assimilate within a month, the world shall know the truth. I will not accept no as an answer."
As Renar turns to leave, Rei says one last word. "And remember, I don't care about what happens to Golarion or Toril, I'd be glad if both of them cease to exist because that's two less planets full of savages to deal with."
And now, back to the outside.
Elsa digs through the crate and fishes out a rectangular, metal cube with a circular lens on its front. There is the word Watase Film M-1500 Land Camera written on the surface (Looks like an unlicensed copy of Polaroid SX-70). She points the lens at Simo (Who doesn't seem to notice this) and presses the button on top of the M-1500. It makes a clicking noise, and a second later, a paper slides from the bottom of the camera.
The paper has a black rectangle in the middle, but slowly, the picture begins to develop. After a minute, you can see the black and white 'painting' of Simo in its full glory.
"Look how cool that is!" Elsa beams, "It's like magic, but it isn't magic, I have no idea how people in the past got this to work, but it's awesome!" She hands it to Alex, "Here you go, Alex, I'm sure Paulis will like it!"
Simo's party's attention focuses back to Maya being weird... again.
"Venet is right, you're a team, don't hide anything from each other... unless you're playing a game of Mafia." Danils smirks.
"No." Simo raises his hand, silencing the Owlin. "We aren't here to explore random rooms... because we have an even bigger fish to find. Give me the notes." He walks over and takes all the notes (except the one from Room 2). Then he shows it to the rest of the party, plus Kazimieras.
"Before you guys say anything, our body temperature is too low for most viruses and bacteria to grow, unlike actual bats, by the way." Seems like the vampire had finished two of the notes already, he's a fast reader.
"Huh, that's strange... I haven't heard of ALTIS before, there are a lot of disease that makes your immune system break down like some types of cancer, but if the symptoms aren't severe, one could survive well into their elder years." Liega says, rubbing her chin. "Vladimirs XII is sick all the time, maybe..."
"His father was sickly but his mother wasn't, this note says this disease only transmitted from mother to child, not parent to child." Simo cuts her off, then he hands the note back to you."I'd suggest keeping this note with you and giving it to Elmars or other dukes once you have the time. The king of Kerwos is incapacitated, he will be a sitting duck until he pass away and someone else gets elected to the throne, and that 'someone' will know what to do with all of... this."
Simo and the gang read the second note, which is mainly about the artefact and its location. And soon enough, their mouths go ajar.
"Oh my God... the artefact has a name all this time!?"Simo rubs his head, then sighs. "It's still not a lead, but that's still something. Our best bet is to find where this Vujica person is and get the information from her, which means we have to get out of here first..." He looks at the door and passes the note and the hint to the rest of the party.
"I'm not your babysitter, go solve the puzzle by yourself, it's not that hard." He scoffs, crossing his arms. True to his word, though, it's not that hard at all, you just need to count every word and that's it.

"The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference."
Ok... this is getting nowhere... she's angry, I'm angry, her 'guardian' is angry'.. Mira thinks as she recoils. Whilst she is tempted to use force in an attempt to barge into the second room, she's worried about the presumed humanoid kitsune ripping hers and Venet's torsos in half with a single strike each, because, not gonna lie, those are some super threatening claws there, especially considering she almost mistook her glossy red nail polish as blood. Still feeling disinterested with whatever they found, Mira glances at the two women who stand alongside her; especially the one who's probably the only other member besides a sulky Renar who isn't occupied with anything as of now.
"Those boys are busy with the passcode and that... printing thing. Whatever it's called. Venet. Let's focus on this whilst they're occupied. I doubt they'd be finished by the time we'd even check this room out."Mira addresses to Venet. "Thing is... if what these notes say are true... there are actual kitsunes down there..."She stares at the notes in her hand, scanning over the descriptions of domestication and foxes and stuff like that; Even with the recent extinction of this mystical race, that's how she came to this assumption. Could it be that... Renar and Maya accidentally turned whoever is down there against them? Did they encounter something they had to fight, or rather, hurt their feelings? Is that why they're so aggressive about hiding something? If that's so then she and Venet will need to rectify this before thing take a turn for worse...
Plan B: Time to settle for what she is next. Peaceful negotiations... and a bit of cuteness.
"Um... Maya..." As she slowly approaches the snarling fox woman she maintains a safe distance with her paws behind her back in case the latter decides to pounce. "Listen, lady but... I don't know if you can understand me so I'll do my best to simplify what I'll say... um..."She clears her throat as she then briefly rubs her eyes, folds her bunny ears in half... and then glances up to the fox woman with a cute expression and furrows her nose a bit, almost as if she was begging for something or sniffling (and a bit of fake tears). She also cups her hands as if she was pleading herself as she does her best to simplify everything she begs in an almost childlike manner. "You heard the owl boy right? We're a team, aren't we? A team. And you're one of us aren't you? Your safety is our priority as much as your guardian and your son... we will find your son for you if you comply. Please? You are me and Venet's friend. Are you not my friend too... my fair, pretty lady?"
This feels so embarrassing, but if there's nothing else that can persuade her... then this is the only option! She thinks as she blushes slightly, even holding out her hands to present her with a small flower wreath from her bag in case her words cannot reach her senses.
*I'll let Venet take the stage and go all out if she wants*
Still fiercely devoted to help protect her newfound allies from harm, Maya's claws dont even move an inch back into her hands. If she could speak Lancean, maybe she wouldn't have seen her son have a hard time getting along with them. Maybe she could help rectify this sticky scenario herself if she could speak. This feels terrible, yet this isn't the first time for her, obviously. She glances to the far corner where Renar is standing alone doing who-knows-what. And then over to the boys where they are... wait... that's an instant film camera isn't it? Judging by the printed photo that came out from the front, she assumes it is. She's used this contraption before in Japan, but was unable to use it properly, especially with the shutter blinding her on multiple occasions. Only to witness in front of her...
Huh? Mira is what? Confused by the rabbit girl's sudden change in demeanour, especially her fake tears and that super cute plushie-like face. Her snarl immediately drops and converts into a shocked expression (but again, her eyes are still shut). Mira has kind of figured out Maya's weakness: She's constantly smitten for cute things, especially with that face of hers. In fact, she hears something... that she can definitely understand and can flatter her alongside Mira's baby face...
"Uh... fu... rendo... T... tomo... A team... t-tomodachi... Find my son... Uh... puretty...?! Me... Kawaii-?!" She stutters. Is that what Mira is trying to say? Because that's all she can translate into her foreign mind right now. She's being called pretty? Cute? No way... Will they help find the kitsunes downstairs and befriend them too? But... aren't these people harmful to them? Didn't they wipe out the entire race and left those two in stasis whilst their kind bit the dust? Isn't that what her son told her? Something isn't right with the info she's received. Maybe she's being misunderstood too, now that she's thinking about it. Maybe these guys would want to help restore a race... maybe... just maybe... enemies can turn allies... But not yet. Despite receiving a beautiful flower wreath from the bunny, Maya still isn't convinced that she'll budge as she fold her arms with her gift still in her claws. She remains blushed, but even so, she refuses to step out of the way for the time being.
Unless... as she stares at her next, if Venet has something to offer that could change her mind.

"Wow!" Alex says, holding up the strange object (did she hand him the camera or the photo? lol) "Are... you sure you want to give this to me? You guys found it after all, and I thought Simo was treating this like a contest..." His eyes drift over to the shifter, who seems preoccupied with the notes.
"Oh... yeah we already counted them," Alex says, hesitantly making his way over to the door. "I... hope I counted right."He punches in the number, and then eyes Maya and Mira for a moment... not really sure what to make of the exchange. "Come on guys. We have the password. It doesn't really matter what's in that room as long as we can get out of here safely. Right?"
Shugo watches Elsa with interest as she uses the small black box thing to make a painting of her brother. If talking to this Paulis guy wasn't such a big deal now, he would have tried to get his hands on that thing. Surely it would have satisfied his father. However, right now it seems like there would be plenty of other chances to find some sort of artifact...besides, this information about the viruses...
He is a bit hesitant to hand over the note, and he quickly takes it back when Simo returns it. Give it to Elmars? Yeah, that's probably not happening. He never liked that guy to begin with, now they found out that he's apparently in league with Cezars...what else could that Bird be hiding? He'd consider telling Elmars or one of the other Dukes about it, but he's keeping this note. He needs to show it to his father. As he thinks of these things, he fingers the device in his pocket. Of course, if he can't confirm this disease is what his sister has...
He shakes himself to break that chain of thought. Now's not the time to think about that. He turns his attention to his currently dysfunctional team, noting that Alex has found the passcode. Walking over to stand behind Mira and next to Venet, he loops his thumbs in his belt and looks at Maya with his usual friendly face. "I'm not really sure what's going on here. Like Mira says, we aren't going to let anything bad happen to you." As he continues speaking, he glances towards Renar, focusing his words towards the 'changeling'. "Now, I don't really care what's in that room but I really don't understand why you are even bothering to try to hide it. If you plan on keeping whatever is in there your going to have to bring it out. So unless it's small enough to hide in your cloths or a bag, we are going to end up seeing it anyway." By the tone of his voice, it's clear that Shugo is not trying to threaten anyone. He's just stating the obvious. "If you want to keep what you found, then keep it. No one here is going to take it from you. ...well at least no one in our team.. heh heh." He can't know for sure if Simo and his lot wouldn't try to grab something valuable after all. "Anyways, unless you want to stay down here. Let's put this mess behind us and move on." These words are still focused towards Renar, though his body language is meant to calm Maya down. Whatever happened in there has put both of these two on edge, so he figures they need some more convincing. Placing his hand on his chest he bows to Maya then Renar, "If you wish to keep what happened here secret, then I swear on my honor that it will be so."
She takes a deep breath, trying to not be annoyed. They've come this far together havent they?
"Yes, Maya, you're very pretty and our companion. We're all stuck down here together so it's best we try to get along. If you have secrets that's fine, you don't have to tell us anything, but getting mad at us because you're leaving us in the dark about something is not the way to go. Now, if all that's done?" Her words hold no malice, its just clear she's tired.
Already feeling conflicted from Mira's earlier act of kindness, the pressure's rapidly building onto the kitsune woman when both Venet and Shugo appear to back up the rabbit girl with more Lancean stuff she cannot even comprehend. Well, except for Venet, when she repeats Mira's flatter. As the sight of Shugo bowing towards her also stuns her, it becomes clear in broad daylight that... whoever these travellers are, they're not here to cause harm. They're not those people who insist on genocide. At least, from their gestures and manners of speaking. So... why did her son tell her that these people are to be mistrusted amongst their new kitsune friends? Why did he tell them, tell her too, that they'll finish off a genocide that happened... well... centuries ago, possibly when Maya herself was only a teen? There's something she's misunderstanding. Something her son is also misunderstanding, judging by how irrational he has suddenly become too.
After staring at the trio with a blush, she sighs and steps away from the door slightly, but it's clear she's still not contempt on letting them in. She's scared that if they do, if she unravels it to them, either side might blow out into an unwanted brawl because of... well... whatever that's happened to them in the past. Whilst Shugo, Mira and Venet get a nod from her, it wasn't made clear that if she permits them to let them in, or admit that she cannot salvage this for herself and her son. Or both. Her claws have retracted as she puts the wreath in her hand bag, but even so, that doesn't mean they let their guard down and prompt her to extend them again.
Glaring furiously at her son next for making her misunderstand the situation, if he approaches her, she elbows him hard in the face for costing her some new friends... and the current situation of the team. If only this world's language wasn't so hard to learn though. This could've been made easier if she was able to skillfully mediate with these guys to reduce tensions like she could in Japan and Sword Coast... Seems like whatever her son said, it just made things worse for everyone... again.

Noticing Shugo and Venet come to her aid, Mira nods to Maya to affirm their combined reasoning. When the kitsune woman actually moved away from the door with a nod, the rabbit beams in delight, though she's unsure if that her 'go-to' signal. Either way, she places a paw on her chest too as a sign of thanks.
"Thank you, for complying. And like what these two said, we've got nothing against whatever you're hiding."She reassures as she gently rubs her hands that have now retracted into normal fingernails. "Whatever it is, if you're still intent on hiding whoever that is downstairs, we won't push you any further. But I won't go back on my word. Neither us have ill intent especially for who you are, who they are, whatever. Just like Shugo and Venet here. If you're the hand that would feed us in the future, we won't bite if off. As allies, we'd prefer if you could let us help resolve this problem for you. But it's up to you to decide, if you're fine on letting us in. Let us know before we depart this place, if you ever change your mind. I'm willing, no, I swear to protect it or them, alongside you, if you insist. "
She jolts as Renar gets elbowed in the face. What was that all about?! "Uh... lady... that wasn't what we meant..."Mira tries to call her, even though part of of her says he deserves it for being so... moody.
Renar
Right now as I stand near the edge of this place's entrance with disdain and mistrust, I can't even think straight as I attempt to block out what I just saw inside there, and how I'm unable to forge a friendship yet again despite clearly not showing any forms of hostility. What the heck. Just because we're from a different world you judge a book by its cover?! Sigh... Taking this moment as a distraction for myself, peer over to those fake foxes with Alex... and raise my eyebrows. Wait... that's an instant film camera isn't it? I've seen plenty of those in Japan, even before technology advanced; Rixi only introduced those four months ago to the Sword Coast, so I doubt they'd be able to grasp its mechanics, let alone create it from scratch. Eh whatever. They can take that to Paulis however I care. It's not as important as I turn my head to... wait...
What are Shugo, Venet and the bunny girl doing with Okaa-san?! Are they trying to persuade her otherwise so they can go in there and kill them?! And... she just stepped aside so calmly...! Is Okaa-san letting them into our room?! I thought she's hell-bent on protecting Watase-san and Suzuki-kun from danger?! I need to stop her as I trot towards the four of them... "Hey! I thought she said-"And before I knew it, Okaa-san elbows me in the face with her usual strength... such that it leaves me dazed in confusion and pain and almost with a broken nose. "OW! What the heck!" What was that elbow to my face for?! I was only trying to help protect them! What's with Okaa-san all of a sudden?! The fact that she didn't even say anything this time is just as bad as what she just did to me...!

Alex enters the password, and the numbers are magically grafted inside a square... but this doesn't seem right. There are four squares on the wall, but the number he typed in (341) is only three digits, so there is one empty square with no numbers. The hint said that any note with her name counts, and there are multiple notes with her name on it. The solution will not be a three-digit number.
Eventually, the room flashes red, with a loud beep that startles Simo's party. But a second later, everything returns to normal, the numbers on the wall are erased, and you can try again—two attempts remain.
"Come on..." Simo face-palms.

"The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference."
"Oh wait... uh ... forgot to tell you Alex but... Doesn't a passcode usually have four digits?" Mira calls out, realising her mistake about reading Vuijca's note; 341 isn't even a four digit number, let alone a proper passcode. She then glances at Renar and Maya's note, which also appear to have her name signed as well as she feels a wave of stares coming from Maya, Venet and Shugo...
"Um, well, the note we found written by Vujica um... she said to count the letters on the notes that have her name to get the passcode. Any note that has her name, specifically. Now that I've read Renar and Maya's note, I think... she means every note that has her name. Not just our own." She then tries to count Renar and Maya's notes but everytime she does so she easily loses track and has to start from the beginning; She just can't do it efficiently. Then, after conceding heavily, she passes the notes to either one of the three, hoping they can at least try and do it faster than her.
But... if Alex gets the password wrong, then that means the chlorine gas will activate, and everyone would risk being poisoned by it. She needs to know how many words . And... as Renar previously said, there isn't a lot of time before their Fire Genasi 'friend' would wreak havoc on whatever they're searching for.
She glances to Shugo and Venet, partially because if she's wondering if they had counted the numbers in their notes already, but also partially because... if Renar and Maya are in fact hiding something more special than that contraption, the three of them need to know what it is, or rather, now that she's checked through their note a third time, who it is, before they turn their backs on this place. "Guys? Have you...? You know... counted...?"
Thing is... as she glances back to Maya shoving Renar away as he tries to approach every time, she's afraid either of them will still try to tear the trio up if they try to barge in. She also wants to press Renar formore info, seeing that he's the only one capable of speaking Lancean right now. But... since he's not even getting cloer by one inch because of the fox woman, she doesn't say anything.
Renar
I jolt slightly as I rub my swollen cheek when Alex enters the passcode incorrectly. What is he even typing in? Count the notes that has that weirdo's name? If that's the case then that means my note would count too, since her name is obviously printed on the sheets me and Okaa-san pulled out. Still though, I'm worried about the entire chlorine trap mechanism and how all of us can easily die on the spot if it gets inhaled. Maybe I should help them a little as compensation for my awful attitude earlier...
"I count 501 words in my document. 503 if you include that person's full name. You do the math yourself." I call out without even bothering to soften my tone. Wait... if Alex enters the passcode wrong two more times then... those people I met in that room... Those three are still eyeing our room even whilst Alex actually screwed up? Second, Okaa-san's blocking me from interfering with them at every angle too; Everytime I approach she either slaps me or shoves me hard to the ground. And third, as I peer to the door...
They're gonna die aren't they? If he gets it wrong two more times?

Shugo smiles as Maya seems to calm down, then grimaces when she slams Renar in the face with her elbow. What was that all about? Deciding to ignore what just happened, and having no real interest in looking into the room (He's not sure why Mira thinks there are kitsune in there, and if there are he assumes they'd be like those chimps they saw in room 3...and he's not to keen on seeing real people like that.) the elf turns his attention to Alex...who seems to have put in the wrong passcode.
Nodding to what Mira said, he pulls out his own note and counts then tells the others the number. "Was that initial code you put in there just the number of words in your note? I believe we need all four of them. Count all the words, then add up each digit in each number, then put them in in room order... at least that's what I'm assuming based off what was said earlier."
Alex flinches, face going pale as he realizes his idiotic mistake... this... this is why he didn't want to be the one to do this. Ugh, oh well. Might as well just own it. Chuckling he turns to the group and rubs the back of his neck as he says, "Uh..huh... well, that was stupid. We need all the notes. Good grief that's a lot of counting." He shakes his head, "Did this lady write the notes and count after? Or did she write the notes to match the password?"
He laughs, not expecting a serious answer to the dumb question, and then nods to Shugo, "I... well maybe I'm just simple, but I don't think it's that complicated. I'm pretty sure we just have to count all the letters and then add the results together. It doesn't matter the order..." His brain is hurting trying to figure out exactly what Shugo's formula would look like.
"Anyways, I don't want to try that until we all agree we've got the right number..."
Once they've added up the numbers to all the notes, he'll punch in what they conclude is the final answer.
The bunny girl scratches her head slightly before answering Shugo first. "From what I read on our notes um... yeah it is. 341 words in ours. she basically told us to count the number of notes that has her name, meaning ANY note with her name on it; So yeah. You're right. If the passcode requires four digits the total of all the words in the notes we've gathered would have to equal that value. Thing is my maths sucks... Does your virus notes have her name signed at the bottom? If so then, it would count alongside the note that Renar and Maya had until the latter passed it to me."She takes a sneak peek at a recovering Renar. 501 words? How on earth did he manage to calculate his so fast?! Unless if he either made a mistake or he actually knew prior to rescuing whatever is down there. "I won't push you if you don't want to but, if you can't count the number of words in yours I could ask that oddball or Alex to help whilst you can read theirs... while we have the time."Well, she's assuming that the oddball pair have nothing to do with the notes they had given to her earlier, so she wouldn't mind swapping notes for now if he wants.
As for Alex (Did Alex include 'Vujica Simic' in the word count?)... "You're right. The note we had specifically didn't mention just our own note. So 341 in our notes, 501 in Mr Oddball's (503 if Vujica's full name is included). Now we need to count Shugo's and those fox people's notes if they have any and... Uh..."He's blushing but also wearing a grimace on his face Yikes. This poor boy must be mentally hurt at this point. She can kind of glimpse through his worries and how it might build up to hinder his confidence. "Hey. No need to be embarrassed, young one." She calls out. "It was my mistake for not clearly explaining it to everyone. That's why we're all here to work things out. No big deal unless you somehow got it wrong a third time."

Her fox ears suddenly twitch. Wait... Renar told her that the trap, the gas... the room that they're in, it's connected to the outside one, the main room their in right? Oh gosh... she doesn't want those kitsune to die, even if her son had gotten on their bad side... what did he even say to them that made them turn hostile?! Or did he perhaps say something that unintentionally deterred them from being her new friends? Whatever it is, she ain't going to know, especially since her almost unemotional son isn't willing to give her the details...
Other than that, she repeatedly hears Mira calling to Shugo to... do something. Was it to count his notes? It wasn't fully understood to her, but if that's so then she'd probably would like to be of use for once rather than to stay idle and act like a kitsune out of touch with the rest. Whilst her intelligence is one of the lowest, at least she can count, even if it isn't swift. In fact, if Shugo isn't able to count the number of his notes, Maya will gesture to him with of her red fingernails to hand his notes to her; She can't properly read them but if it helps, she can at least identify and count the words before she tells her son what she saw.

(Sorry if it wasn't clear, Shugo did count the words...but I hadn't counted yet. I've been having trouble with my wifi and hadn't had time.)
Shugo counted 562 words which would be 567 with the signature included. (Though it should be noted that I was counting hyphenated words as two words)
Shugo looks up at the others, in slight confusion specifically at Maya. Does she want to check his work? (Please do, as I myself counted quickly...and it would make sense if Shugo miscounted this as the note makes him very uncomfortable.) Hesitantly, he hands Maya the note. Then looks over at Simo's group. "Did any of you find a note in that room?" If they didn't then he was definitely reading to far into the instructions. Perhaps they do just need to add them all up and plug them in. Now all they can do is hope they don't need the letters from the blocked out text in his note...
A small gasp can be heard from the kitsune when Shugo hands Maya the notes. Understanding his silence, she goes over the notes and repeats his current demeanour too. Shugo had better be thankful that Maya could not read a single word in his notes, otherwise she would have gone into a full blown panic over this virus thing...
(NGL I actually took the pain to type everything on word minus the blocks and apparently hyphenated words count as one single word, not two)
Once she's finished, she looks over her pained son, the only person who can understand her despite having punished him for making her misunderstand...and whispers in his head, where his hidden fox ears are. "Gohyaku Yon-Ju Ichi (五百四十一)" She whispers hoping he'd actually do the math as she hopes her genius son would do.
Just in case though, the claws on her right hand extend again. It seems like she was about to slash someone, but instead, she slashes the nearby wall such that it leaves deep enough marks for her to write her message to everyone else (assuming the 'Glory to Lancea Vujica Simic' doesn't count): 541

(Alex did not count the name when he calculated... and hopefully I counted right because I don't have the time or wifi to go back to that note lol. I'm leaning towards not counting the name in there since the tip we found didn't specify the name should be included... but we'll see what happens).
"All of that together should make 1404," Alex says slowly. "Does... that sound right to all of you?"
Looking at Maya's post, the new number would be 1383, but we can check with the dm before confirming. lol, sheesh I thought about typing the words out after copy-paste didn't work, but I just didn't have the time lol.
I couldn't really do much after Okaa-san kept pummeling me away with her brute strength. Seriously what did I do to them, huh?! Those guys were just super hard to get along with. If only you could speak Lancean properly. Maybe I wouldn't have been left in the dust after all of this effort! Sigh... Whatever. Even as Okaa-san whispers whatever she counted in Japanese, I didn't even dare to make eye contact with her in case she lashes out again. The questions is though: She never specifically said if her 'Glory to lancea Vuji-whatever simic' line counted, so I'm unsure if this is supposed to be included in the total word count.
Assuming it isn't though, she counted 541, I counted 501, which means, when combining it with whatever Mira and Alex saw, which is 341...
Hmm... That sounds a lot a better in my head actually. "1383, Alex, though that sounds a lot more reasonable than whatever you first punched for sure." I confirm as I get 1383 in my head.
Again, whatever. If it works it works. I don't even want to look back on what Okaa-san read, let alone find out how our kitsune ancestors are doing...

"Guys, we're a team. We can't be hiding stuff from each other."
Room 2
Persuasion check failed.
"His father was sickly but his mother wasn't, this note says this disease only transmitted from mother to child, not parent to child." Simo cuts her off, then he hands the note back to you. "I'd suggest keeping this note with you and giving it to Elmars or other dukes once you have the time.
"Oh my God... the artefact has a name all this time!?" Simo rubs his head, then sighs.

DM—Stories From The End of The World: Episode I
Mira
Ok... this is getting nowhere... she's angry, I'm angry, her 'guardian' is angry'..
I doubt they'd be finished by the time we'd even check this room out." Mira addresses to Venet. "Thing is... if what these notes say are true... there are actual kitsunes down there..." She stares at the notes in her hand, scanning over the descriptions of domestication and foxes and stuff like that; Even with the recent extinction of this mystical race, that's how she came to this assumption.
I don't know if you can understand me so I'll do my best to simplify what I'll say... um..." She clears her throat as she then briefly rubs her eyes, folds her bunny ears in half... and then glances up to the fox woman with a cute expression and furrows her nose a bit, almost as if she was begging for something or sniffling (and a bit of fake tears).

"I... hope I counted right." He punches in the number, and then eyes Maya and Mira for a moment... not really sure what to make of the exchange.
Seems like whatever her son said, it just made things worse for everyone... again.

Mira
Noticing Shugo and Venet come to her aid, Mira nods to Maya to affirm their combined reasoning. When the kitsune woman actually moved away from the door with a nod, the rabbit beams in delight, though she's unsure if that her 'go-to' signal. Either way, she places a paw on her chest too as a sign of thanks.
"Thank you, for complying. And like what these two said, we've got nothing against whatever you're hiding." She reassures as she gently rubs her hands that have now retracted into normal fingernails.
"Uh... lady... that wasn't what we meant..." Mira tries to call her, even though part of of her says he deserves it for being so... moody.
"Hey! I thought she said-" And before I knew it, Okaa-san elbows me in the face with her usual strength... such that it leaves me dazed in confusion and pain and almost with a broken nose.

Mira
"Oh wait... uh ... forgot to tell you Alex but...

Mira
The bunny girl scratches her head slightly before answering Shugo first. "From what I read on our notes um... yeah it is. 341 words in ours. she basically told us to count the number of notes that has her name, meaning ANY note with her name on it; So yeah. You're right. If the passcode requires four digits the total of all the words in the notes we've gathered would have to equal that value. Thing is my maths sucks... Does your virus notes have her name signed at the bottom? If so then, it would count alongside the note that Renar and Maya had until the latter passed it to me." She takes a sneak peek at a recovering Renar. 501 words? How on earth did he manage to calculate his so fast?! Unless if he either made a mistake or he actually knew prior to rescuing whatever is down there. "I won't push you if you don't want to but, if you can't count the number of words in yours I could ask that oddball or Alex to help whilst you can read theirs... while we have the time." Well, she's assuming that the oddball pair have nothing to do with the notes they had given to her earlier, so she wouldn't mind swapping notes for now if he wants.
Uh..." He's blushing but also wearing a grimace on his face Yikes.

As soon as Alex punches the wrong code and activates a warning alarm, Maya jolts with her tail sticking up and stops elbowing her son everytime he gets too close. Geez that was a rather loud noise. Did he not get the right code or something? Great... the last thing she needs right now to get it wrong a few more times and potentially activate... the...

*Yeah English language is confusing lol.*
Renar
