Ulrich's voice booms out, "fellow travelers, forgive us for being wary but the roads can be dangerous for the unwary. We will stand aside and let you past, you appear to be making some haste." He gestures toward Solace with his shield in his left hand. Zorn rests on his right shoulder.
As Hrothgars pleasantries get ignored and the hobgoblin moves straight for business Hrothgars face turns more serious as well.
With most of the others replying to the hobgoblin Hrothgar remains silent. He instead tries to read their intent as the conversation proceeds.
@DM: Would Hrothgar know who the hobgoblins means with lord? As in would that be someone he heard of and knows if they are seen as allies or enemies?
Insight please, and somewhat. You know that there’s a lord that rules over the town and the surrounding area but it’s not like him to hire goblins, last time you was here there were no goblins.
The hobgoblin spits on the floor, “Alright, show me your goods or we’ll throw you in the gaols, we’re looking for a staff with a crystal on it.” He extends his arm to show he wants your pouches and weapons. This isn’t quite the homecoming you expected.
Sturma pads to be more directly leeward of the physically largest of the knights.
She wears simple travelling clothes. Her burdens are the wrapped and twine-corded belongings of herself (few) and the others (many), but all are small and parcelled up. A cursory glance would should that no staff is on her person.
She suspects that absence of the staff will not change the hobgoblin’s next actions.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
At the hobgoblins mention of a staff, his eyes go wide and he gives his whip a quick flick. "Hey now! If I didn't know any better I'd say you were trying to rob us. It's a bit had to fit a staff inside of a coin pouch"
The hulking man would flick his whip once more,l as he attempts to determine if they are telling the truth..
Myrla makes an half-hearted effort to show her weapons that are attached to her side by raising her arms a little. "Haven't got any use for a staff. We're good to go?"

"I suggest you move long," says Ulrich to the hobgoblin, not moving to show them anything, "or you might just find something deeply unpleasant. The gods frown on the intimidation of innocent travelers, and they tend to show their displeasure through me."
Do you want an intimidation roll for this? Or is it pointless?

As she lowers her arms, she crosses them in front of her but behind her shield. She uses the opportunity to draw a dagger behind her shield's cover and prepares to throw it at the hobgoblin should anyone show signs of violence.

"We have just arrived, and this is no way to treat us as we are just going about our business. Look at me where would I be able to hide a staff with a crystal on it" says Tandri as she dismisses her blossom of flame and points to her small size. She huffs indignantly that these thugs are trying to rob her.
There is a bit of redness in her cheeks as she looks at the rider with disapproval.
The hobgoblin seeing your unwillingness to comply spits on the floor. “The lord will hear of this!” Turning to the goblins he says, “Bring them in, if they fail to comply use force.” The goblins nod, dismount and draw their weapons.
You can tell their intent is to get the staff and take what else they can on the way to it.

"Stand firm, ladies and gentlemen," rumbles Ulrich. He is relaxed but ready, looking and sounding confident. "We are well within our rights to defend ourselves and our property. Any reasonable Lord would accept that. And unreasonable ones need to be taught to see reason."
"Enough of this... You're nothing but a bunch of bandits! You want me, come get me!" Brock would shout as he drops his whip at his feet before leaping towards the hobgoblin on the horse. As he lunges forward, he would swing hard with both hands... bringing them down hard against the leader...
Unarmed Attack: 16 Damage: 4
If he manages to connect with the blow, he would attempt to grab hold of the rider and grapple him before dragging him from the horse!
