”I don’t think the King lost their marbles. We need to see the room where the monarch said they were attacked and progress from there. Searching gods know where for Orryn and Warryn with nothing but a cold trail to follow will not get us what we want. Thoughts?”

Quin has certainly heard of mimics. Most stories he has heard describe them as doors or chests. But it is believed that they can turn into any inanimate object. One person swears he saw a mimic that was as big as a house, eating anyone who tried to open the door, though he was a bit drunk. Then there is the more obvious were-creatures who can shapechange into specific animals. But that doesn't seem to apply here.
"Anybody else here heard of Mimics? Never heard of a doppelganger impersonating furniture. But mimics, those do it all the time. Probably should check the room first." Chimes in Quin as he agrees with Jayson.
Biezdar heard stories, but they seemed a little far-fetched to him. Who knows. "So we go in every room and poke furniture? If it is all true, then i hope we find that thing before we are going to be struck with some straitjacket by the gnomes to straighten our wits. With no better ideas, i am all up for this"

Well i guess he doesn't know, so he'll just cast the spell anyway just in case. He does so. It lasts for 10 minutes, so hopefully we can do a bit of exploring while it is active.
"Oah, poke furniture..." Gor says, his eyes getting glassy as he stares into the distance as if recalling something. He spends a moment like that, his body there but his mind somewhere else, somewhere far away. When he finally comes back around, he shakes his head and blinks, as if surprised that he has been...well...somewhere else.
"Simple plan. You, and I find it, Gor, Biezdar, and Kosef sledge it. When we get inside I'll go left, you go right, the rest go to the middle of the room and wait. Watch out for a rug with teeth! Let's go!" Quin tries the latch and pushes his way inside.
You see nothing magical in the throne room, but also no jug.
Map:
You see a stone dais with two squat thrones made of scrap metal and sized for gnomes. There is a small table next to the thrones. No other furniture is present in the throne room.
Jayson wanders the room looking about. Fishing a coin from his belt pouch, the bard tosses it at the table, which may or may not have always been placed adjacent to the thrones.
(( Roll via sheet - Dex to accurately throw the coin - 12+2 = 14 ))
Nothing reacts in the room. And to save some time, assuming that someone starts poking or hitting things in the room, it's all ordinary. The throne room is clear.
Quin makes his way around the room, finding nothing in the progress. Back at the door he asks, "So where next? Maybe someplace with a lot of things to mimic?"
”We should have asked for a map. I don’t like the idea of traipsing around this place until we just happen to stumble upon something. We already came across a lunatic with an auto-firing ballista. Aimlessly skulking around these caves could be perilous.”
He thinks for a moment.
”Maybe we could talk one of those sentries we met into serving as our guide. What do you guys think?”

Kosef wonders if his Detect Magic spell would be able to sence the location of a Mimic or similar shape changing creature.

Jayson gets to the room in question and looks at his companions before entering.
”How shall we proceed, gents? If this thing is in there, we should have a plan.”
If you plan too long, detect magic will expire.

Kosef will walk into the room. Checking for anything magical. Failing that, he goes and pokes the jug.

"Should we just start smashing things?" Kosef is starting to freak out a bit. Dragons are one thing, but shapechangers give him the willies.

Jayson watches for any telltale reaction…
(( Roll via sheet - Perception - 10 ))
The coin lands on the table, and rolls of the far side. The table doesn't move

Jayson shrugs.
”The table’s a table. Cross that one off the suspect list.”
As the bard wanders about the Throne Room, he begins to sing. If the creature likes it enough, maybe it will start to dance and give itself away.

A mimic's disguise, hiding behind those eyes
A web of lies, where truth merely dies
Caught in the act, wearing a mask so fine
Beneath the surface, the darkness creeps and aligns
Shadows in the mirror, haunting reflections so unclear
A soul searching for light, lost in the night
Oh, the mimic's disguise, a fading illusion in disguise
Whispers in the wind, secrets untold within
The mirror's truth, reveals the sins of the kin
The dance of deceit, a waltz with no end
In search of redemption, where do we begin?
Shadows in the mirror, haunting reflections so unclear
A soul searching for light, lost in the night
Oh, the mimic's disguise, a fading illusion in disguise
In the silence of the night, the truth comes to light
No more hiding in the shadows, no more blind fright
Break free from the chains, embrace the pain
The mimic's disguise, will no longer reign
Shadows in the mirror, haunting reflections so unclear
A soul searching for light, lost in the night
Oh, the mimic's disguise, a fading illusion in disguise
Shatter the glass, let the truth cascade
No more hiding behind a facade, no more charade
The mimic's disguise, now shattered and gone
In the light of day, we find where we truly belong
Nothing reacts in the room. And to save some time, assuming that someone starts poking or hitting things in the room, it's all ordinary. The throne room is clear.
