I’m very interested in this, but I’ve never played with strangers before, so I’m a bit nervous to apply. Hopefully I’ll find some courage over the next few days to fill out an application for a tiefling bard I’ve been wanting to make
I have a Gnome alchemist that fits this to a T. His profession before adventuring was as a distiller of fine spirits. His family has their own signature formula called Philbin Firewater.
I'll probably use point buy but let's see what the dice gods are inclined to grant me.
Ability scores: 151512171215
Alright I have dwarf fighter I can add as well. I'll just reuse this roll for.his stats. Give me a moment to adjust his sheet.
Name:Shagrin "Shaggy" Flamebeard
Race: Mountain Dwarf
Class: Battlemaster
Pre-dventure backstory: Raised by his cutter father and home maker mother. Shaggy grew up admiring the shield bearers of the north and always swore he'd become one. When he became of age he joined the militia and became that which he so admired. He is stalwart and dedicated in his service.
His proudest moment was defending a town from a dragon while commanding his own regiment of Shield bearers.
His darkest day will forever be losing some of those under his command.
Currently Shagrin has reached an age where a warm hearth and telling and retelling the tales of his youth is a much more attractive use of his time than running off on half cocked adventures where survival isn't guaranteed. To keep busy he helps out at a local tavern providing tall tales and crowd control against unruly pateons.patrons.
Character name: Syr Proserpina Character race: Human Character class: Paladin (Oath of the Ancients) Ability scores: See quote https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/64530477/lKWP1Y Magic items: Winged Boots, Mithral Plate, Corpse Slayer Maul Backstory, pre-adventuring: Syr Proserpina is was chosen from among her people by the great Silver dragon Frynderssur, to be one of her knights-errant. Proudest moment: Syr Proserpina once allowed herself to be swallowed by a Behir in order to retrieve the body of a party member the Behir had swallowed previously. She was able to escape the Behir and resurrect her companion, and together they were able to defeat the beast. Darkest hour: Syr Proserpina unknowingly invited a vampire into her tribe's home in the north. The vampire all but wiped out her tribe before she was able to realize what had happened and kill the monster. Frontstory: With most of her family dead, Proserpina lives in self-imposed exile, not allowing herself to return to the snows of the north or her beloved land. Instead, she cares for the city here, improving life for those she can, giving healing where she can, living as a mostly retired knight-errant.
Hi there. The premise looks fantastic, and I’d like to apply.
If you click through to my profile, you can get a sense of my writing and the regularity with which I post. I work long weeks with subway rides in between the various things I do. PbP helps me take advantage of those bits and pieces of down time to have some fun. My current PbPs completely fill my appetite for game mechanics, but I have been looking for something like what you describe. I want to leave the mechanics behind and really focus on RP, building relationships, and improving my writing in regard to both.
Two possible characters I’d like to use are a gentle giant Goliath eldritch knight with a hawk familiar called Tamtam, or a grainy-voiced earth genasi martial artist called Shale. If you'll forgive me, I don't believe in front-loading character creation for these applications, so I'm not going to cook up a backstory and front story and so forth, yet. It's just not worth it. I can come through promptly with ideas which will not disappoint.
I usually prefer to use point buy or array, so let us see if I remember the magic spell for Ability scores. Abracadabra:
Character name: Ibis Character race: Tiefling Character class: Bard (college of swords) Ability scores: 13 16 13 10 15 17 (racial bonuses added) Magic items: Periapt of health, uncommon glamerweave, lyre of building Backstory, pre-adventuring: Ibis grew up in a travelling performance group where she participated in choreographed mock fights and played music for entertainment. When she started showing signs of a strange illness, she was asked to leave the group out of fear that it might be contagious. She travelled alone for a while, visiting various skilled healers, hoping that one of them might have a cure for her ailment, but without success. Upon overhearing tales of artifacts that could protect one from and even suppress diseases, Ibis sought out an adventuring group to travel with in hopes that she’d be able to journey into more dangerous situations with help from others. Proudest moment: Providing an incredible performance to gain the favour of a noble the party was in hot water with. It was the first time she’d performed so publicly in years, and she was thrilled that she hadn’t lost her abilities despite her lack of opportunities in such a long time. Darkest hour: A child was sick with plague, but she refused to attempt to heal them out of fear that coming in contact with them would cause either of their ailments to become worse. The child passed away, and she regrets not at least trying to help, even if it might have made things more difficult Frontstory: Now that Ibis has a method of protecting herself from her illness, she hopes to spend her days making others happy and providing a good time for all. She’s just glad to be able to live freely and spend time with those she cares about.
I’m flexible when it comes to character creation, so if there any adjustments or suggestions the DM has that would make the character suit the setting/story better, I’m more than willing to tweak things here and there
Character name: Osrin Character race: V-Human Character class: Cleric (Forge Domain) Ability scores: Above Magic items: Uncommon Items: Alchemy Jug, Pistol, Automatic, +1 | Rare Item: Staff of Healing Backstory, pre-adventuring: Osrin was an abandoned baby at a random church that worshiped Purphoros, the god of the forge, the restless earth, and fire—also the god of artisans, obsession, and the cycle of creation and destruction. Osrin became a Cleric once he came to age and was found to be talented in creating things, along with successfully joining the famous Izzet League. Leading to being praised by his peers and living a happy life. As time went by, he found himself becoming an adventurer due to an unexpected accident with a teleportation magic item that sent him across the multiverse, no longer with familiar faces and friends. He had to toughen up himself, which his god thankfully gave him a blueprint to protect himself. What better way than a gun!? Soon, he met three great friends and also people. He seriously wondered why he was friends with these people in the first place. Nonetheless, they travel and face many encounters that make him question to this day how they are still alive to this day. Proudest moment: Obtaining the Staff of Healing Darkest hour: Finding out that it's impossible to return home. Frontstory: Finding a way to return home.
Hopefully we can choose to use point buy, these really weren't good. I'm kinda excited for this, I actually had a character in a previous campaign that ended about a year ago that ended up becoming a tavern keeper at the end of the game. My submisssion here will be let's say an alternate reality version of him (we got to level 20 in that game).
Character name: Valanthe Berells Character race: Half-Elf Character class: Paladin (Devotion) Ability scores: ^ Hopefully can use point buy Magic items: Ring of jumping, Stone of Good Luck, Sun Blade Backstory, pre-adventuring: Born to a human tavern waitress and a travelling elf bard. Mothers family used to run a tavern, but had to sell it a couple generations back. Didn't meet his father as a child. Became a blacksmiths apprentice, but later a travelling knight saw him practise with some weapons he'd made and decided to teach him. Darkest hour: Lost his first party in a fight against a strong vampire, and only survived because the vampire wanted him to live and suffer with that knowledge. Proudest moment: After joining a new party, was able to bring revenge to the vampire. Frontstory: He's had enough excitement for a couple lifetimes, he just wants to retire into a normal life. But if those around him were to come into danger, he would show why you don't tickle a sleeping dragon.
Character class: Druid, Circle of the Land (Underdark)
Ability scores: Ability scores: 131216161112
Magic items: Staff of the Python, Dust of Dryness, Bag of Beans
Backstory, pre-adventuring: Maddo spent his early years as a teacher, well as far as you could stretch that word in the underdark, were very few things were not trying on your life. His clan saw population as paramount, so he knew not of his birth parents, few did, and those of his age taught the youth how to harness the power of the earth. Eventually, the clan grew too big to manage in the caverns, so they traveled to the surface. This worried Maddo, for he was as familiar with the surface as the deep, and too the dangers it possesses. His clan needed more power, more knowledge of how to harness the very wrath of nature itself if they were going to thrive. He proposed to the elders, advocating for a party of the strongest druids, including himself, to comb the lands surrounding, and become the fiercest of warriors. The elders, though understanding his plee, had their concerns. Their clan was still young, and brash decisions like this could lead to problems. He cursed them; ranting how they were too focused on having children with no plans beyond. With that, he left, and when he returned, he promised they will see wrath as he did. Proudest moment: Maddo had found the feywild, and it was everything he could have imagined and more. He saw natures wrath, and its beauty most concentrated. A lifetime of blood and fury, and he couldn't measure to the unyielding fury of nature's own. But also, its beauty. The skies, the fauna, the peoples life interweaved with the land. He could maybe count twice how many times he's seen something similar on the material plane. Maybe... maybe he could've done it. Perhaps wrath unbending wasn't the way... Darkest hour: Maddo's adventuring party had heard of a war that was taking place in an area that sounded familiar to him. The quest led them to a desolate wasteland. They were too late. Whatever carved through here was gone, and nature has struggled to return. But there was a sent in the air, faint, but present. It was...a flower. One that was native to the underdark. But who could've known how to grow it? And that's when he saw it, goblins, more dog-like in stature, his clan. The flower had grown from their bones. Whatever they were going through, their last resort was cannibalism. And all he could do was think. Think about how scared they were. How proud he was of his kids, learning to fend off hunger. Then thinking how they shouldn't have done that in the first place. He was here. He was wrathful. He should've been here. Frontstory: Maddo see's his life free from wrath. Where he can help anyone who asks see natures truest beauty. Not a pacifist, he doesn't deserve it, but he believes he has the knowledge to help others on that path.

She fell in with a group of adventurers after she stowed away on their ship, and learned to use the bow, taking the first steps towards being a Ranger. Like a fighter/rogue. *Sigh*
And darn it, Backstabitha, you have to bring back Martha NOW! Always right after I have to drop out of a recruitment.
Okay, that's exactly twice. But it's weird that it's happened more than once.
