Amiz jumps down the ladder and crashes his axe into the fallen hobgoblin’s stomach, disemboweling him. Unfortunately, as there’s no enemies in sight, Thelanis’ prepared Eldritch Blast won’t go off.
As Amiz turns to see what is in the room and sees a worrying sight. Five remaining hobgoblins stand in a circle around two figures fighting. A giant black cat with sharp teeth and two spiked tentacles growing out of its back focussed on a dwarf that has been completely battered and sliced up. Amiz recognises the dwarf as Dedear, the tattooed dwarf who was hurt by the undead in the battle in the Dim Wood.
All the hobgoblins turn and yell as Amiz jumps into the room, while the tentacled cat moves to make the finishing blow against Dedear. Thelanis is still up, Amiz is down in the common room with five hobgoblins bearing down on him while Dedear faces down the beast.
Thelanis charges down the ladder, half jumping, half rappelling trying to slow her fall. [[Athletics 13 if necessary.]] While she has her issues with the dwarf, she thinks it will be easier to get paid more if he lives, so she blasts the kitty. [[AC 20, 11* force damage]]
*If it has beeen less than an hour since the fight with the hobgoblins she still has hex and transfers it to the tentacled cat for 2 Necrotic damage.

Amiz will wait till several hobgoblins are within 10 ft of him. Then he will use his Daunting Roar. Every enemy within 10ft needs to roll Wis Save DC 13. On fail they are frightened untile the end of my next turn.
Valar will wait until another Hobgoblin reaches the top of the ladder before striking again. The intent is the same, to strike and cause the Hobgoblin to fall down and maybe take another with it.
Thelanis’ Eldritch Blast is dead on the giant cat. But it goes right right through and hits the ground behind it. The image of the cat flickers out and the real cat appears right beside it. All attacks against this cat are at disadvantage until you hit it.
The cat casually walks up to Dedear and smacks him across the head, knocking him out. The cat then turns around to you all and lowers its head, flicking again out of phase a few feet to the left.
The hobgoblins all scream and rush at Thelanis and Amiz. Working together as a team, they can do extra damage when within 5ft of one another:
Hobgoblin 1 Longsword against Amiz Attack: 10 Damage: 3 Slashing plus 4 Slashing from Martial Advantage.
Hobgoblin 2 Longsword against Amiz Attack: 15 Damage: 3 Slashing plus 6 Slashing from Martial Advantage.
Hobgoblin 3 Longsword against Amiz Attack: 13 Damage: 7 Slashing plus 9 Slashing from Martial Advantage.
Hobgoblin 4 Longsword against Thelanis Attack: 11 Damage: 9 Slashing plus 6 Slashing from Martial Advantage.
Hobgoblin 6 Longsword against Thelanis Attack: 7 Damage: 5 Slashing plus 6 Slashing from Martial Advantage.
One of the hobgoblins is clearly daunted by the fact it’s facing a fearsome Leonin. Te other two are bolstered by their superior numbers.
Thelanis, Valar and Draíocht are up. Thelanis and Amiz are facing down a group of hobgoblins in the common room below while the giant tentacle cat advances on them. Dedear is bleeding out on the floor.
Sorry for the cross post Valar. As Amiz and Thelanis have jumped down to the hobgoblins level. It’s unlikely they’re gonna try and come up the ladder while fighting those two.
Draíocht moves down the ladder to join with the rest,
Seeing a horde of hobgoblins, he cries out in Druidic and dim lights begin to glow around the hobgoblins.
Action: Cast Faerie Fire Goal: target the hobgoblins, but not fellow party-members DEX DC 13 to save, on fail attacks against affected hobgoblins have advantage0
Would like to get at least 3 in the AoE. Otherwise attack with the shortbow against Hobgoblin 4. (Idea: Try to take out one source of Martial Advantage depending on the placement of the hobgoblins.)
To-Hit: max(9,9)+5 = 14 //advantage from being hidden before, but is the same roll if that no longer applies after moving down the ladder Damage: 1+3 = 4 piercing
[[ Self-note: have marked spell slot off for faerie fire, remember to unmark it if the bow is used instead ]]
OOC: Giving the hobgoblins disadvantage will help reduce their combat effectiveness for sure. But Martial Advantage actually gives them extra damage when they do hit rather than advantage to hit. Mathematically Faerie Fire is still a great spell to use but just so you know that it may not work exactly how you were intending
Yikes, they all made their saving throws. The hobgoblins, working together, Dodge out of the way of the faerie fire.
Valar still has an action left if he wants to engage the hobgoblins. Thelanis is still yet to go. Your all engaging in battle with 5 hobgoblins while a giant tentacled cat prowls around the edges of battle, lightly phasing in and out of view.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hex can absolutely still be up. Valar engages the hobgoblins and almost downs one with his sword. Thelanis lashes out and fells Hobgoblin 5 with her hex blade.
Dedear rolls a death saving throw: 12
The giant cat’s visage phases slightly as it rushes Thelanis, seeing an opening in the hobgoblin ranks. The hobgoblins fight on, all of them gaining martial advantage being near their allies, but Hobgoblin 2 is at disadvantage from Amiz’ roar:
Tentacle 1 against Thelanis Attack: 9 Damage: 5 Bludgening
Tentacle 2 against Thelanis Attack: 20 Damage: 10 Bludgening
Hobgoblin 1 Longsword against Valar Attack: 20 Damage: 4 Slashing plus 10 from Martial Advantage
Hobgoblin 2 Longsword against Amiz Attack: 9 Damage: 10 Slashing plus 11 from Martial Advantage
Hobgoblin 3 Longsword against Amiz Attack: 13 Damage: 9 Slashing plus 10 from Martial Advantage
Hobgoblin 4 Longsword against Thelanis Attack: 20 Damage: 3 Slashing plus 5 from Martial Advantage
You all are up, tall of these enemies are crowding you in using their numbers and experience to batter you down.

Thelanis, can you roll with disadvantage please?
Actually sorry they said they were going to be away. I’ll play for Thelanis for a bit, roll with disadvantage:
