Is there a path we can take to get closer to the city center and stay on the rooftops? Preferably a path that will keep us from being seen in by anyone in the streets.
I can see the path I would like to be on through the patch of thorns before us.
*he points toward the shanty roofs that will lead to the city* That is where we need to go however we must first make it there. Normally I would hide among that fog but I do not trust the way that fog moves. It flows with more purpose than it should.
Do you have any ideas how we can cross and avoid those mists?
"We? No." Jasper says this second word very quickly and in a matter of fact tone. "I'm sure you are fast, Deeee-arg the elf, but I'll bet you I'm faster! Well, until it is time to nap, that is! Hehehehe" The tabaxi has a hideous laugh that sounds like an old man wheezing. "We can just try to run past them. We're probably pretty quick, you and me, eh? I can climb, and I might even help you up if you need since we're in this sticky mess together, eh? That is, unless you think that blowpipe can kill living misssts!"

I imagine Jasper's laugh as some sort of annoying, nails on a chalkboard laugh like Mutley from the Hanna-Barbera cartoons, but perhaps more nasal-y, with a bit of a cat like hiss in there somewhere. Poor Deearg. Look who he got stuck with!
"Guess there is nothing to do but try. Let's see if we can make this together. That will stack the odds in our favor for whatever the outcome, if you can keep up anyways."
Dearg watches the mists as he speaks and just as her hears Jasper inhale to speak he darts across the lawn as fast and quiet as a shadow.
Guys I'm so sorry! I would have sworn that I had already posted a reply to this! I will double check to make sure so this doesn't happen again.
I was actually just going to climb/jump down. Also with a base speed of 35 I was going to slow a bit to make sure Jasper keeps with me but stay ahead of him a couple steps.
“Just try to kee.... oh” says Jasper as Dearg is the first to set about the task at hand. Jasper leaps into action behind the elf, using his cats claws, and perhaps a paw on Dearg’s rope if need be, to descend into the courtyard. The feline is quick as lightening as he dashed across the yard toward the wall, potentially passing the elf. If he can spot a good point to exit, whether it be through a gate or over the wall, he’ll head for it and exit if he can reach, climbing if he must.

OOC. Sorry, posting from my phone and it doesn’t seem to have the dice roller, the spoiler sections, etc. Hopefully this rolling method works.
Please note that Jasper has a movement speed of 60ft for one turn when using his feline agility, so Dashing here will grant him 120ft of movement. As a tabaxi he also has a climbing speed of 20ft so some of his 120ft may be taken up by the vertical part of this turn, although he can probably just drop the last 10ft. Thus perhaps one or both of the rolls won’t be needed since his normal movement abilities should cover climbing and running, especially the latter since both PC’s should be able to run without a check. We’ll see what the mists have to say about it, of course, and which character is ahead after turn 1. Doesn’t matter to me, but Jasper probably takes pride in being faster over short distances, like Gimli. ;)
Your syntax is close but that have it a bit off. I've had to type it on the phone a couple times and its a pain because of all the symbols. (remove spaces) [ roll ] 1d20+7 [ /roll ] You can use the same for spells, actions, and conditions.
I didn't remember the feline agility for Tabaxi, thats a pretty sweet ability.

OOC Back at the computer so I can properly edit my posts. Wanted to toss in a perception check for Jasper to see if the mists behave strangely as the two drop into the courtyard and dash, so will add that here.
Panting heavily, Jasper puts out a paw to aid Dearg out of harms way if it is needed. "Hehe, well done, Deeee-arg." Still catching his breath, the feline inquires further with his new elven 'friend'. "Where to, Deee-arg? Should we go kill this thirsty bloody guy, or go find this salty wench named Toby. Strange name for a lady, eh?"
Yes, twisted facts/names intentional. Jasper probably didn't listen very well regarding the note, in the confusion of the situation.
"We need information before rushing into an action. Let us find Toby to inquire about this mission and the hunter. Stick to the rooftops and shadows, we'll figure out how to get over the wall once we're there."
"Ok, let's go see this wench then. Oh, let's avoid the city guard too, just, ah, to be safe and all of that. Lead the way, massster elf. You seem to know this town better than I!"

Dearg travels across the rooftops towards the city center. He moves quickly but focuses more on being quiet and unseen than he does on speed. Once he makes it to the wall of the city center he stops in the shadows and examines the surroundings.

Jasper scampers out onto the roof with his cat-like grace. "Where are we, Deeee-arg? What do you see?"
