Strange.. I'm not sure why. I'll try to describe in the mean time, but I just sent you a direct link to the map.
The ghoul feasting on the bones closest to the party advanced in front of Callim
The ghast dashed, and moved in front of Kneecap
The second Ghoul threw the bones at callim, however made no movement.
So, Volneer is still against the wall in the hall, 15 feet in front of him, directly into the room is Aria. to the left and right of her (Nort and south on the map) is Kneecap and Callim. In front of her, from left to right (South to north on the map) is the Ghast, Dorn, and Ghoul A. Ghoul B is in his original position away from the party. Without any change in action, I would assume you are targeting Ghoul B with the Ice knife, as it is within range and won't impact the party. let me know!
EDIT: Sorry, I just read IC where you wanted to hit the Ghast, Ghast it is!
@Kneecap, your dwarves resilience gives you resistance against poison damage and advantage on saves. To speed things along I rolled the advantage roll for you and got a 20, hope you don't mind 😂
@Volneer, you’re absolutely right. I forgot chill touch is a cantrip. Thanks for calling that out, I’ll leave it to you if you’d like to roll for wild magic since I’ve already declared it. If not, just disregard :)
Finally, I got my attacks in and had a few good roles. I hope it is clear, Calim is basically making a kill box for the ghast, as the other two have been repelled.
I feel a little bad that we are walloping in our new player with extreme prejudice.
Oh, I've been meaning to ask, OTheo, what is your position on flanking? Do you believe in ADV on attacks when two or more are attacking a foe? I usually ask for my players to give me some RPing strategy that helps to justify a flanking kind of situation (not just a 'I stand here and slash at a baddie' kind of thing). But, if I'm not mistaken, it is an optional rule in 5e. Thoughts?
It's OK! I'd rather you not all die here! But it is quite the introduction.
From the Ghast perspective I'd hoped the smell and giving the ghouls Advantage on being turned would have been more disruptive!
Wasn't sure if the DM would update results... But I see the hits by Dorn and Aria. Misses by Kneecap and Volneer. Then both hits land from Calim. Total 32 hp damage. The Ghast still hangs on a by a thread I think.
Flank away my friends! I love and am open to most of the optional 5e rules. I still consider them RAW despite being optional. Good call out, and if we run in to any other optional rule instances feel free to continue asking, and we'll take them as they come.
Additionally, check the updated map. Volneer declared movement only if he landed a hit, which he didn't so I kept him in his position, which then leaves the ghast plenty of room in several directions to move to, So I just placed Callim in the spot that I thought best to attempt to close in the ghast. If you'd like him moved again just let me know and we'll retroactively place him in your preferred spot.
We didn't get Kneecaps Con save, but I'll start the next round of combat, and Kneecap will have to make 2 con saves at the start of his turn before declaring his actions. A con save also goes for Dorn, aria, and callim IF they start their turn in the same spot, next to a living ghast.
What's more, Kneecap and Callim have the Ghast flanked, so their attacks will be at advantage. If Kneecap or Callim become poisoned, The disadvantage will cancel out the flanking advantage, and you'll just roll normally.
That's a lot of info, sorry! let me know if all of this makes sense or if anyone has any questions/comments.
@Kneecap, literally don't pay any attention to me I'm an idiot, Lol. I was under the assumption that a save needed to be made every turn if you were within range. But as written, after a success you're immune for 24 hours! Thanks for the callout.
Speaking of which, if you're fallowing along with my rolls on our log, its very chaotic, as I'm managing Dorn and Aria with their own modifiers, all on one character sheet, and forgetting saves, and rolling out of order and its an ugly mess so I'm sorry Lol. I do want to be transparent with rolls, but it might be easier for my brain to just use the rolling tool in chat. That being said, you might see that from me from now on as long as I don't have any issues with it. If you all would like to go back to the text-based rolls as well, feel free but not required obviously.
No problem at all, its been awhile since i've fought a ghast, was hoping I was right! As far as your rolling, do what you need to, i'm not looking at other rolls, just my Low CON saves and Attack rolls! haha ;)
Hello guys, sorry if I'm being annoying, I should probably check OOC before IC from now on *Facepalm* However, I just wanted to tell you guys that there is a Tyranny of Dragons campaign that is recruiting on PbP. I honestly love playing with you guys so if you wanted to sign up that would be great. If you don't, I'm totally fine with that but it looks like it'll be fun.
No worries at all 😂 I constantly make mistakes so I’m not at all bothered. And, please don’t be bothered by me! I expect us all to have a good level of free talk, and call outs. I’m not someone to take things personally.
pertaining to IC/OOC, it specifically helps me a lot to find any and all ways to minimize and streamline the posts in IC, especially during combat where I have to continuously reference each of your posts as I’m organizing them at the end of the round.
additionally @Volneer, there is a fair chance that kneecap may drop the ghast before you. So just a heads up, feel free to add to your post to include a secondary action, if the ghast dies before your turn. Or you could always just edit after kneecap declared and rolls his actions. Whatever you prefer
ive never played tyranny of dragons, might have to check it out 🧐
Ok, as we are getting used to all the rolling and, let's be honest, the sifting through out of time attacks by our loyal DM...here is my question. Do you want us to roll individual rolls for all options that MIGHT happen based on the turns in the battle? Or, should we have our rolls be applicable to any action we take.
For instance, I rolled two misses against the Ghast (who I am assuming is dead...but not sure). You are welcome to apply the first of my misses to the attack on the Ghoul. But, if you want to have our rolls be applicable to each potential effort I gave extra rolls for that. I don't think this matters much now...but, as we go, this is going to be a pretty big deal.
Basically, we all are jumping into action slightly out of sync and you should let us know what is going to be the least annoying way for you to gather all our rolls and make a fair sequence of events out of them.
Thanks again for doing this. It is such a different and fun way to play. I'll be honest, it is fun to have more rolling for us...it kind of makes it feel like we are both doing MORE AND...I get interested to see what transpires for real when the dust settles. Like...did I miss or did I get that hit? Again, this is going to be MUCH more confusing as our fights get bigger.
Oh, one more suggestion that we try Owlbear Rodeo. I do think we can leave it up and open for each of us to move around on the map and therefore make that part a little less difficult for you, Otheo. Might be wrong. But, I think it is worth giving a try.

I didn't read that, sorry guys, I thought Ghasty was against the wall.

I've never played Tyranny either, but think I'm currently maxed out on my PBP game commitment so I'll have to pass. Good luck if you get in!
I'm waiting for the ghast to do it's turn, then I'll try and finish it off :)
That should have finished it off!
