Vinn's eyes widen at the strange, monstrous sounds. Raising both hands to chest level, he performs a fluid motion upwards to cast thr cantrip gust. A rush of wind can be heard-- it surrounds him and Sir Beauregard, and their hair whips around harshly, in the hopes of drawing the crew's attention. The feathers that surround themnalso fly up with the wind, before gently falling back down.
Vinn points down at the hatch, then, with exaggerated gestures, he mimics claws with his outstretched hands and bares his teeth, in attempt to look menacing. He hopes to convey that something dangerous lurks below.
Augustus will pull a bit of his neck scarf up over his mouth and nose to attempt to stifle the rot, then squat down to salt the doorway, sprinkling a fine line of the sea-salt in his belt pouch across the threshold. Once he's satisfied, he'll stand and step into the room with his right foot, pausing to see if anything happens to him.
From there he'll move about the room, examining the items left behind, respectfully returning everything mundane to its rightful place, but trying to find references to the sailors that manned the ship previously and any mention of "Roost" or "Willion Cromwell". Finally he'll approach the portrait and look at it closely, scanning the face (checking if it matches any description by Keeneseeker), the frame, and the wall surrounding it before moving back to the main deck.
Upon seeing Vinn's game of charades, Silver will cock an eyebrow before smiling and silently chuckling to himself, hoping to see a feather land on Vinn or Sir Beauregard, then move to the Aft Portside Cabin
Morlock turning, thanks Ziegler for his protection. Upon hearing the activities below deck (depending on the timing, may halt his ritual casting, before,) moving on to support the party below deck.
With a hand on Vinn’s shoulder urging him to join him, Sir Beauregard backs away from the hold so that the two of them can join Silver. He makes a gesture with his hands, each holding up a finger and then bringing the fingers together. He moves over to Silver.
Vinn backs away from the hold as suggested. His hands copies Sir Beauregard's fingers, but Vinn gives a lost look. Regardless, the genasi follows his half-orc companion to Silver.
Vinn remains concentrated on his fingers, still bringing them together and apart.
As Vinn and Sir Beauregard join Silver, he'll clap them each on the shoulder with a grin, offering if they'd like to be the ones to open the door, and if not, he'll push on the door (Aft Portside) expecting it to be unlocked like the last one.

Augustus- You push through the detritus of the crew's cabin with your foot, finding mostly junk. Frustrated, you turn your attention to the portrait on the wall. The portrait shows a young couple smiling and embracing. Written across the bottom of the portrait are the words “Aleitha and Brastos—together forever.” The black-haired woman wears a sailor’s uniform similar to the tatters worn by the zombies aboard this ship. The blond-haired man wears a merchant’s fine clothes. Neither match the description given to you by Keenseeker.
You start to turn back to the main cabin when you feel something unusual about the ground beneath your foot. Kneeling down you notice a loose floorboard notched with dagger marks, indicated it was lifted many times before.

Augustus will pull out a small, leather-bound notebook from his backpack and make a small sketch of the portrait and take some notes of the things his rough sketch can't capture.
Noticing the loose floorboard, Augustus will slide the blade of the hunting dagger from his belt into the gap between the boards and carefully lift until the board is clear. If there's any resistance, he'll switch the dagger for his crowbar and attempt to pry it up. Once the board is free, he'll peer into the hole and retrieve anything that seems interesting with a gloved hand.
Augustus - As you lift the board, you hears a slight <"twang!"> at nearly the same time you feels a sharp pinch in your arm. You look down to see a small dart sticking out of it. The needle delivers 3 points of piercing damage and you immediately feel a warm sensation throb from the pinch.
(Make a DC 11 Constitution Save vs 6 points of poison damage)
With the floorboard fully lifted, you can now see the crude mechanism for launching the trap. It appears to be fully spent and non-functional unless reloaded. In the space beneath the floorboard, you see a tiny wooden lockbox with the initials W.C. engraved on the latch.

Silver removes the dart from his arm and moves his shoulder around to try and clear the warm ache left behind. Experiencing a moment of humility after setting off that trap, he proceeds more carefully. He'll use a bit of extra wax to plug the hole that released the first dart just in case, stowing the one from his arm in his pack, stuck into a bit of cork to avoid any accidental stabs. He'll run the blade of his dagger around the interior of the missing floorboard and using the point of it to lift one end of the lockbox, leaning low to the floor and away to avoid being wherever another trap may be aimed. Once he's satisfied that nothing else will go off, he'll retrieve the box with a gloved hand and inspect the latch and engraving more closely.
Vinn follows suit and enters the cabin. He stares at the painted portrait of lovers, until he hears the twang and nearly jumps.
His jaw slightly drops seeing Silver a victim of a booby trap, before pulling out a hidden box like an investigator. This is just like his favorite adventure books!
Vinn then takes a deep breath, prays for a cool moment of his own, and checks behind the portrait.
Inside the chest, you Augustus finds a collection of coins from various regions around Faerun, worth about 200 GP in total, along with other traveler's trinkets -- buttons, shells, a set of bone dice and a faded, moldering letter that looks like it's been folded and unfolded countless times...
It's a letter from a mother to her son, "Willion," written in common, reminding him to take care on his journeys and not take any dangerous risks... the letter lays out a mundane list of updates describing a bucolic life down at some unnamed farm and asks the boy to return once he's made his fortune and sowed his oats. The mother promises to leave her son's room untouched despite the father's wishes to take in boarders. The final words are lost to time, faded beyond legibility...
As you read, the creaking sounds of the boat create an unsettling contrast to the relative silence... Hard not to wonder if Willion, or some remnant version of him, is still around here someplace...

Augustus will solemnly and carefully refold and return the letter to the box, placing a single Moonsilver from his clan with the assorted coins inside, before closing and re-latching it. He'll then carry it with him as he returns to the main deck and the others.
Augustus will carefully push at the door of the Aft Portside cabin, holding his shield aloft in case of any more darts, then do his same line of salt, a cursory check for traps, threads, rotten boards, and step inside with his right foot!
Vinn pops his head in the Aft Portside Cabin, after Silver. Seeing him carefully scan the room, Vinn taps the back of his shoulder to cast Guidance. "You're pretty good at this stuff, like a detective or spy," the druid comments quietly.

Ziegler catches up to Morlock, walking side-by-side with him.
He continues to glance about (including above), straining to hear anything unusual.

Sir Beauregard nods to Vinn, Ziegler, and Morlock in the rear and stands to the side and just behind Silver as he proceeds.
Vinn follows the group.

As the adventurers are moving slowly and the ship isn’t, the knight attaches his greaves and gauntlets. (Chainmail instead of chain shirt).
