(Traveling today so posting Sparhawks turn when its time): Sparhawk, seeing the usefulness of the excellent maul, will strike again. However, his newfound bugbear ears seem quite sensitive to the loud cacophonous music echoing in the corridors. He will need to adjust his fighting style to account for his companion's interesting instrument.
Reaction: Shield, +5 ac negating the dmg i would have taken.
Action: 4th level Fireball, dealing 37 dmg (or half if succeed 17 DEX save), trying to get as much of the troglodytes as possible ( Careful spell, as usual )
Sparhawk wrestles breifly with a slippery troglodyte before bashing him to the floor. Wyselath's magjc protects hia allies as the fungus-filled cave, its floor slixk with vlood and ichor, piled with the remains of a score of lizard men and a bloated demon bursts into flames for a second time.
In the glow of Tess' magjcal illumination and divine light of her spirit guardians, fhe corpse of the hezrou's skin continues to shift and writhe as its remians lay prostrate on the stont ground. Suddenly its back turns into a single large eye that snaps open, revealing something within, resembling an eyeball, but with an aura of magic about it. The Pulsing Geode, a chunk of hardened demonic flesh embedded with veins of opalescent crystal, calls out to you, singing of its power and visceral beauty.
But something is amiss. The mushrooms, they begin to move in synchrony, swelling to six times their original size, stretching their rubbery skins to transparency, before bursting open, sending a cloud of spores into the air, rapidly expanding for a 50ft radius.
If you end your turn within the spore cloud, roll a DC16 Con save.
Tess's knowledge of nature is sadly lacking, (3), but she's wise enough to hold her breath and get out of the spore cloud, heading map west. As she passes the demon she checks to see if it has anything of interest.
Kos' CON: 12 (but will use Flash of Genius to get the +4 bonus and succeed)
Kos will also stumble out of the choking cloud and follow after Tess to get a better handle on what is happening.
"What do you make of that?" Kos notices Tess examine the demon as she passes and he too will give it a quick search.
Investigation: 21

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”

Yeah, its got that fascinating object wedged in its back; the one that beckons to you, temptimg you with its power.
The spore cloud flows into the large chamber, its air movong unrestricted relative to the air in the venous tunnels the troglodytes poured out of.
<just in case i misunderstood, i mean the spores are natural, the thing in the demon's back is a magic item, though without detect magic, you wouldnt know it, as such. Since nobody said they went deeper into tbe tunnels the trogs wmerged from, it seems everyone is still in the spore cloud. Whether you moved or bot, you csn atoll access the magic item in the demon's back if you choose.>
I could post a map, but i do t really feel like it. This is my fun fluid dynamkcs puzzke, btw. It moves to tbe wide tunnel because of tbe larger cross secrionql area and associated lower pressure. Investigation check might have given that, but I prefer challenges for players more than for their characters. Also, none of the adverse events are punishments, they're just moody, like that 'phantom echoes' effect Sparhawk just experienced. Anyhow....
The geode is a magic item, for pracrical purpsoes. Its my howebrew, not uploaded, still thinking about if its effected by antimagic field. If anyone wants to add it to h9wbrew so it appears in your inventory, be my guest, but i know you have it.
Heart of the Hezrou
The geode starts with 3 charges, regaining 1d3 charges daily at dawn.

- Scaling Damage: Additional charges increase the damage by 2d10, (1d10 fire damage plus 1d10 psychic damage,) per extra charge spent.
- Max Burn: A player can spend up to 3 charges at once, bringing the total damage up to 8d10—equivalent to a 5th-level cast, (5d10 fire plus 3d10 paychic).
- Visual Effect: The geode pulses violently when activated, radiating heat waves, distorting vision in a 5ft aura, and briefly illuminating hidden creatures within range.

It's kind of a maze. Pick a direction.
Sparhawk fails his save (9) unless it’s poison save but his magical aura may assist those around him (+4)
Tess makes the save 17+4.

Its not magic. Its nature
Sparhawk 4
Tess 8
Through the cloud of spores, Sparhawk hears the voice of Cha!jil asking casually, "We are going to the Honey Camp?"
Sparhawk looks to his left, “Cha!jil, we need to find that mechanism to use that construct. We need to get it from the Queen!”

Tess will grab the item, then try to get out of the spore cloud- deeper in if she has to...

Sparhawk remains stuck in the green cloud (con save 12) “I can save you, I will save you Cha!jil. Swim back up, don’t let the giant kraken eat you.”
Sparhawk has a necklace of a gold kraken around his neck. He seems, not himself.
