The terraced floor of this angled cavern is slippery with cave drippings. In the center of the cave, a wide tunnel has collapsed into a rubble-filled alcove.
(The dripping water renders the uneven floor slick with mud and slime. A creature that moves faster than half its speed along the floor must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or have the prone condition.)
Two umber hulks butst from the ground, angry at the intrusion.
Sparhawk pulls some recovered minerals and crystals from his backpack from past rooms and placed them on the floor in front of him. Then backs away showing a passive stance.
Kos is going to hide amongst the rubble that fills the alcove using his Svirfneblin Camouflage feature.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
The one closest (umber hulk 1) stares at the efforts of the group, but suddenly you begin to feel confused. (Confusing gaze) DC14 Wis saves. Buff feom sparhawk per usual. I think koz can skip this one since hes hiding, but seen, safe but noticed.
5–6. The target takes no action or Bonus Action and uses all its movement to move in a random direction.
7–8. The target makes a melee attack against a random creature within its reach or does nothing if it can’t make such an attack.
The othe umber hulk burrows into tbe geound, headed toward the party
(edited to add 2nd monster action, map, note)
Note:
Unless surprised, a creature can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If the creature does so, it can’t see the umber hulk until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If the creature looks at the umber hulk in the meantime, it must immediately make the save..
tess readies her lute to whack at an umber hulk that attempts to come from underground. (whack a mole). "Sparhawk.. I don't think they are friendly". she says.

The burrowing brute bursts from the bedrock below to snatch the cleric in their claws or jaws, but at the moment of breech, Tess wallops it on the head. Sparhawk charges at the other creature and slams it with the genue's hefty maul.
(ooc: are both creatures now on the same level/plateau? and how far apart are they from each other... and us?)

" shall we head west? But let's mark this spot". Tess says. She scratches a rough symbol of an eye on the floor with her staff.
“Yes, let’s carefully explore each option Tess.”

Tess looks curiously at Sparhawk and also steps back, (slowly, to not slip on the floor) but casts Shillelagh on the lute just in case.
