The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and the distant echo of dripping water. Glowing fungi cast an eerie light, revealing shadows that dance menacingly.
Four drow warriors and a savage, green-furred creature of the underdark float down from the webs above. The drow ride strands of spider silk, the predator seems to float through the air with little effort. They land softly, with practiced ease forming a semicircle around you. They keep their backs to the waterfall facing west. The path back to the beseiged kuo-toa city is behind you. They expect they have gone unnoticed, but through training, theyve learned its best to wait a beat and see if that advantage is real before proceeding.

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
(It sounds like we are not surprised) Sparhawk looks at the Drow, "Greetings gentleman, we've had a hard day and seemed to have entered your homes. I am sorry for the intrusion. We mean you no harm but we will defend ourselves."
Drow Elite Warrior: "Intruders in our domain? State your business quickly, surfacers*. We are not without honor; if your intentions are true, perhaps we can find common ground. But know this: deceit will be met with swift retribution."
Drow Warrior: "Our Priestess is deep in contemplation. Speak your purpose, and if it is worthy, perhaps you shall have an audience with her. But tread carefully; we do not suffer fools lightly."

<We're in dialogue mode gang, they've got weapons trained on you ready to go, how do you play it? These are classic drow, so you can rightly think of them as evil demon-worshipping magically inclined creatures. That's totally valid. I'm sure the cleric in the group would have a thing or two to say to a priestess of a demon lord after just seeing, (or hearing about, second hand,) an equally powerful demon lord destroying a city just a few miles away. Maybe also the paladin?>
<dialogue is always free, and anyone can speak. Formally, since they won the initiative I'm counting this as the monsters holding actions until someone does something and then they'll use they're reactions, if triggered. So, you can act, but there's a chance they will react.>
Baron shakes some of the water out of his 'mane' of tentacles around his neck. "If you're wise, you'll leave us alone. We are simply trying to get back to the caverns above." He looks at his companions, "Right?"
"Some simple directions and we go back up never to return." Kos offers as a way to end the interaction without it having to come to blows.

Sparhawk smiles, "I thank you for your honor. I have not met many of your kind but have heard you are honorable.
I am Captain Sparhawk, a Paladin on a quest. I am responsible for my companions at this time. However, we have lost our way. We ran into the kuo-toa and somehow got stuck in a two way deadly war of their people. One side summoned an enourmous creature, I believe called a Demogorgon. I'm sure you saw signs of it. It destroyed our ship, leaving us stranded here. We are simply trying to get to the Caverns of Tsojcanth. They sit near a surface entrance. If you know how to return us there, or..if you can at least give us directions to the surface, we will leave at once." If they are receptive, he will pull out the map he has of the surface, showing the entrance to the caverns.
"I already got feebleminded once." Wysaleth states, scoffing as he tried to shrug away the weird feeling of having his consciousness and tempered with with magical means . . . charm spells were scary. "And honestly, i would prefer to get out of here as soon as possible to rest a little." The elf groans, "So yea. We would appreciate if you aid us into getting away from here, or at least in a safe place."
One drow scoffs in diabelief "Demogorgon? You encountered Demogorgon and stand before us now, alive?"
"Silence," Says the drow in the center of the group, not taking his eyes off the intruders. "There is nothing funny about a threat of such magnitude. The preistess must be informed, at once. There is no room for other recourse."
To the party, he orders, "by my command, you will appear before Priestess Ilvara Mizzrym. Will you come quietly?"
With consent they guide you to a heavy woven basket, suspended from above. Up to four Medium creatures can fit somewhat snugly in the basket. Once you are loaded into the basket, the appatwnt leader of the small unit if deow signals someone overhead. In an instant, the rope pulls taught and violently hoists the basket into the air. The baskets ascends for nearly half a minute. <just a quick pause to see if you want to do anything here>
"Faster than climbing that's for sure." Kos holds on tight and hopes he doesn't end up falling from this height.

The basket lifts over the ledge, revealing two more quaggoth pulling the heavy silk strand attached to the basket. The cord runs through a series of pulleys from a hand-cranked horizontal spool to a heavy woven basket suspended at the end.
The two hanging towers flanking the platform are the quarters of the elite warriors of the outpost. A drow warrior stands ready to meet you, his once-handsome face melted and scarred, his sword hand twisted and missing two fingers. "This way." He says, motioning for you to walk ahead ali g the ledge to the large stalactite near the waterfall.

“Hopefully not a trap.” Sparhawk remains calm but his eyes search for best combat and diplomatic options.
