After taking refuge uostream of the Drow waterfall overlook outpost, the group sets uo their tuny hut. Hours oass and Baron waits with Wyselath outside the hut. In time, Grudak comes out to join them. It looks like whatever happened last night was a one-off. Maybe a full moon thing, judging by those were rats. Who knows? Just an hour or so more and Tess can remove the curse and this will all be over.
Or, so you hoped. But it was gnawing at your brain the whole night. The inescapabke truth that this was never going to end so simppy. The abyss, with its infitonote layers, just keeps com8ng, seeping into our world through any craxks it can find. And this hideous charm is an open wound in the fabric of reality. It turns blood red and cold as the waters of Styx. Nearby, reality itself seems to r8p open as the meaty claws of a reddish demon wmwrge, followed by its hulking form. Its snarls as it stares right at Baron, who wears the cursed item. Its intent clearly murderous, bloodlust in its eyes. The Glabrezu, a jumble of horns, spikes, and pincers, prepares to pounce upon his victim, but pauses on seeing that Baron is not alone, instead offering these words: "I am bound to take a soul with me, but if you deign to slay your companion, your lofe will be spared, and I shall reward you for the trouble. Make your choice!"
In a sudden burst of smoke, a rod appears in the demon's hand, at wither end, temonatimg with an areay of tentacles, the distincrion being theirsoze, clearly making one side the business end of the tentacle rod. He holds it out to you, "It is yours for the taking, once you take the life of one of your companions."

"You foolish being from the abyss, know you not my loyalty is claimed by the Fathomless sea mother? You think you could buy my loyalty with something as simple as a magic trick? I will not respond to your threats, nor to your bribes. I will allow you to return to the abyss from whence you came, lest you incite the anger of Blibdoolpoolp, the great sea mother!"
make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the creature's speed is halved, it has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws, and it can't use reactions for 1 minute. Moreover, on each of its turns, it can take either an action or a bonus action, but not both. At the end of each of its turns, it can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Baron's eyes narrow upon the Demon as it attacks with the tentacled wand. He snarls, an unearthly sound, and his eyes begin to swirl with the colors of storms. He says, "Very well then, you have made your choice. Prepare to die for it." and charges forward, basing himself with the demon as he summons a sword of darkness in his other hand, swinging it down upon the demon in a devastating cut fueled by anger. {Shadow Blade to hit: Natural 20 (rolled in game log as eldritch blast, damage: 43 Psychic damage.} Baron glares at the demon, "One last chance, drop the rod and leave. I want it. Otherwise, I will kill you. My friends will help me, though I might be able to alone."
*MarCailous is studying what the others do before acting. He sees benefit in maintaining the dome, but also in dropping it and joining the fight in hopes of ending it quickly. He will trade his 28 initiative to whomever wants it and can make an impact... He will then act after his fellow party members have gone so he makes an informed decision about keeping up the dome*

MarCailous watches intently as the night draws to an end. His rest completed he awaits there others and hopes for the best.
But he knows that hope is childish game meant to lull the weak-minded into false security.
