Many people in the multiverse call Lancea a paradise, a world that managed to defy all the odds and remained completely free of any war and murder for the past four thousand nine hundred and eighty-three years. And when compared to Toril and Golarion, Lancea is actually a paradise. A world without racism and slavery, a world where monsters and the civilised live in harmony, a world with only one, benevolent God, who cares for His children and waters the garden of heaven.
But Lancea was never like this, before this four thousand years long period of peace, this planet was ruled by a tyrannical empire. Then a civil war broke out and killed 99.98% of the world's population, there had to be sacrifices, a lot of sacrifices to make Lancea what it is today... And soon, this period of peace is about to change.
Rumours had it that someone discovered an artefact in the frozen north of Perkwunos, a rural region of Lancea. This artefact was said to belong to humans, a mysterious race that used to live a long, long time ago, long before the wars, long before the first writing, long before the first cities. They came from the stars in their floating metallic islands and their technology was incomprehensibly advanced... then one day, all of them vanished, seemingly disappeared into thin air. They left behind many ruins and artefacts, however... this one is special.
No one knows what this artefact is, but it is something very powerful, capable of changing the world by itself. And of course, everyone wants it, not just Lanceans, but those from the other world too.
The last golden age of exploration has begun.
Well... here we are again. I've written the summary, but those who've submitted their application before already know what this is.
We've lost two players. Right now, we have a Bladesinger Wizard, a Monk, a Paladin, and a Twilight Cleric. Any class is alright as long as it isn't the same as the four I've mentioned earlier.
Remember, Stories From The End of The World: Episode I will not be like any other D&D campaign you play. The point of this campaign isn't to beat up bad guys but to find a way to resolve conflict without using force, just like Ronald Reagan said—"Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means." Our writing style is also much different from other campaigns, I suggest you check out the main campaign thread, especially on the later pages.
As you can already tell, this is an edit. And I wanted to say I'm sorry for being too harsh earlier, I'm afraid that I might not find the right players, but now I'm even more afraid that I might not find any players at all. All I ask for is to just apply, you don't have to be skilled or write a lot to be in this game, I just wanted to find someone who is committed to the game, that is all.
1. Getting KO'd: Due to the pacifist nature of Lancea, people never kill each other, so here's how combat works.
First, you take the maximum amount of HP every time you level up. For example, a Barbarian with +3 CON would have 60 HP at Level 4.
Once your HP reaches 0, you gain 2 Exhaustion and get knocked out instead of making death saves. Healing spells don't bring you back from getting KO'd, only reviving spells do; all reviving spells take one action and ignore the material cost.
Keep in mind that in the endgame, your character might actually die for real, but for the majority of the game, you have practically no chance of death at all.
2. Side Initiative
This initiative is more suited for forum posts—everyone in the field rolls for initiative, I assign each creature a number, and then I roll the dice to determine which side goes first. Don't worry, I found a way to make this balanced, the combat in this campaign isn't too hard.
Character Creation Rules
1. Roll for stats, point buy, or standard array
2. No Silvery Barbs: This thing is too OP and you know it.
3. No murder: As I've mentioned earlier, murder is rare. If your character (or someone in your character's backstories) has killed someone, they wouldn't last a day before getting arrested, because people take murder seriously in this world.
4. Monsterous races are allowed: I don't mean just goblins or orcs, if any monster can use a tool and stand on two legs, that's enough to be considered playable, ask me first beforehand.
Monstrous races are rare in rural towns but relatively more common in national and regional capitals, the bulk of their population resides in reservations, which is a designated area outside of marked towns and villages. People don't really mind them, because every Lanceans is taught to never judge someone by how they look
5. All characters start at Level 4: The current party is going to level up soon.
6. All races allowed (except humans): That includes the ones from the Humblewood setting, there are several NPCs that use Humblewood races already, although the party haven't encountered one yet.
7. The character name must be from one of the selected countries and cultures below:

I love the concept of what I’m reading about and I love the idea of making a very in depth background for a character, but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up as a writer from what I was reading of everyone else’s posts & I would probably not run a female character. Still, it looks amazing from what I see. Hope it all goes well and you find players!
So... a lot of things changed, I've updated the application yet again to be more open-ended. Just send me the best character idea you have. If you have any questions about the lore, just ask me. Sorry for messing up earlier.

"The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference."
Personality: Studious, generally rather serious, always remains calm, swiftly jumps in to help others in her own quiet way.
What does the character think the artefact is: Liivi, as well as the order that trained her, believe the artefact is related to the humans' floating metallic islands. (perhaps part of one) They believe that it will reveal why the humans disappeared and has the power to bring them back or make others disappear.
Backstory: Liivi grew up amongst other Tabaxi in Nemos. At an early age, she was selected to join an order central to her people. A semi-religious group, it focused on learning about the ancestral spirits of her people. Considered honored protectors, the order often tended to lead the community. With rumors of this new artefact swirling about, there has been much discussion in the order as to what to do about it. Discussion but no decision. Liivi however believes that action must be taken now and feels that it is her destiny to be the one to take up the task. Of her own accord she has set out to make this happen.
(Saw this last night and am interested. Think I have it put together now. If there is more background info on the various regions and cultures, I'd love to be able to try to incorporate more of that detail into the backstory. But I think I have a general outline for now. And can adjust if needed!)

We have a Monk, a Paladin, a Bladesinger Wizard (Acts like a skirmishers, low HP but high AC), a Twilight Cleric (Combat medic), and a Sorcerer. Any role is fine, the initial team is already balanced, but the encounters are designed for 6 characters.

Alright, this one is much, much better than the previous one, use that.
The Monk (Kenshi) is from Sekuris, the Devotion Paladin is from Arusa. I can't tell where the Wizard and the Cleric are from due to spoiler reasons.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hmm. I need to take some time, but I’m thinking potentially something like a Peika or Lentos PC, whose tribe may have been disrupted by the animal spirits becoming angered as of late. As for the actual class, know Druid is a natural fit, but a Bard from here also seems fantastic. Given the game, I’d rather give a very barebones style thing up front & then flesh out the character if selected. In the meantime, though…
