Hi! I've been toying the notion with running a game for a while, but I'll let you know upfront that this will be my first experience as a DM (after a few years of experiencing D&D as a player, both in person and PBP style). From my own perspective, I’m more than happy to take on players with all levels of TTRPG experience, but as a PBP game, I do appreciate (and to some extent intend to select for) quality in writing. (Quantity is irrelevant; however many words you need to convey your character’s experience or action is fine, and given the pace of PBP, I’m certainly not anticipating — nor hoping for — novels.)
We’ll also be running this game in the setting of Wildemount, using the (relatively short) Dangerous Designs adventure — any degree of knowledge of the setting/Exandria at large is fine (and I’ll provide the essentials for our game), though I’d of course rather it be your first go at Dangerous Designs specifically. The adventure is intended to take characters from 1st to 3rd level; if we all end up wanting to continue with the campaign by the end, I’m more than happy to leave that open as an opportunity.
As well, I welcome and encourage you to use (or look through, or get inspired by) the Heroic Chronicle when building a character, and I’m happy to run through any of that with you.
Overall, I am looking for 3-6 players. This will not be first-come, first-serve; I’ll be reviewing applications for fit, and plan to close this a week from today, at which point I’ll post here with that update.
Some of the other basics:
1. I expect players in the game to be 21+ — there may be language, references to mature themes, and depictions of violence. (This is not a game where any potential sexual acts will be described in detail within the thread; separately, but still worth noting, there will also be no risk of sexual violence played out in game.)
2. Respect and communication come first in this game. If at any point you stop feeling comfortable, or you need to pause a scene, always feel free to send me quick note and we will discuss or simply move on, no explanation necessary.
3. You can roll for stats, use point buy, or use standard array. If you roll stats and find you’re unhappy with them, you can go ahead and use one of the other two methods instead. (We will be rolling those after all players have been selected, so don’t worry about that just yet.)
4. This is an LGBTQ+ friendly game, across the board. Again, just, please be respectful.
5. You can use material from any of the published sourcebooks, and anything from the Critical Role materials, just so long as it can be suited to Wildemount.
6. This adventure includes opportunities for both roleplay and combat — I will emphasize here that I love to build out the world around the characters, and make the characters (and their backstory!) intrinsic to the story, so roleplay will definitely be a crucial aspect.
7. I would love for you to have some degree of flexibility about what character you’d like to play — you are of course more than welcome (encouraged, even!) to come in with ideas, but I’d like some wiggle room for discussing thoughts as a group once I’ve chosen all the players, and to join you one-on-one in fleshing out backstory elements so that your characters feel very much a part of Wildemount and of the world we’re crafting together.
8. Minimum post requirement will be once every 48 hours (though more is always welcome). And obviously life will intrude sometimes, so if you plan to be out of touch for a couple days (or more), a note in the OOC thread would be great! I’m always very happy to be flexible; communication just helps make that easier on everyone’s end.
If you’re still interested, hurrah! Please fill out this form and either post it here or DM it to me, whatever you’d prefer:
Name/Alias: Just whatever you’d like to be called. Pronouns: Experience: If you don’t mind listing your experience with D&D/5e and with PBP generally, that’d be great. Setting: How much do you know about Wildemount? Any answer is totally okay, it’ll just help me to figure out what information needs to be shared, and how best to do so. Favorite aspect: Just give me your favorite thing about D&D, or, if you prefer, a moment in one of your games that you loved and wanted to share about. Character thoughts: Like I mentioned, I’d love for everyone to come in with some amount of character flexibility, but definitely let me know if you have any thoughts or plans! That can be race/class, an archetype, a vague backstory, a connection to Wildemount/the war in Wildemount, some inspiration, a song lyric, a poem, absolutely anything. Any/all of the above! Writing sample: This doesn’t need to be too extensive, just a sense for what a post might look like from you mid-game.
Name/Alias: Masqueraider Pronouns: He/him/his Experience: I have over 10 years of experience with PBP generally and have been playing D&D 5E since it came out. Setting: I know enough about the setting to create a character who'll fit in it, but I don't have exhaustive knowledge and would have to look up obscure facts/specifics. Favorite aspect: I love roleplaying. I love creating a character and using them to interact with other characters and the world and having their choices matter. I've posted a moment I'm very proud of in the writing sample section where my character had to convince a Cleric of Auril that he was someone she wanted in her cult to get information on a serial killer he was trying to take down. Character thoughts: My favorite classes/subclasses are Warlock (Fiend-Patron) and Rogue (Phantom). I prefer playing humans since they have the most flexible abilities and I like my character to be distinct for things other than their species. I prefer playing face characters or at least characters with strong personalities and commitment to at least one thing be it a deity, ideology, or ambition.
So my character will most likely be a Variant Human Rogue or Warlock with the Urban Bounty Hunter Background to get more Face skills.
I'm unfamiliar with where Dangerous Designs takes place but I'd likely tailor my character's backstory to have them be a native there for the sake of convenience. Writing sample:
This is long so I've spoilered it:
Zeth doesn't know if it's exhaustion or the emotions he's been bottling up for so long finally being released, but he begins speaking.
It's all he can do to phrase it politely and omit a few particularly damning details, it's like the words need to come out.
"Trust me when I say I know the power of your goddess's domain personally. I arrived in this village today. Before that I was on a ship that became frozen in the ice. Of those who set out from there to reach civilization, I'm the sole survivor. All my crewmates perished in the cold."
He isn't even looking at the priestess anymore, he's gazing into the past. He speaks dispassionately but his teeth chatter unconsciously.
"The only difference between day and night was the light, but the cold was constant. The others kept dying, they'd fall and not get up or not wake up the next day or go mad and run away from the group. I kept going. I was the only one with the fortitude and will to survive, I did what I had to do and didn't let it break me. Even with that I would have died if I hadn't found this town, I don't know if that was luck or fate."
He gives a humorless chuckle.
"Or your goddess's will maybe. After all, she values stoicism, pragmatism, and cruelty and I needed all three to make it through the cold."
Zeth catches himself and tries to use what he's said to get information before he gives more away.
"I might be wrong though. About being the sole survivor. I've heard rumors of another sailor from the ship, Sephek Kaltro. From what I've heard he either survived a plunge into the icy water before it froze over the ship completely. Or he didn't survive and walks the world regardless."
He steadies his breathing.
"He was not a religious man in life, but I've seen many who find faith after near-death. Or after it. I need to know this. If he's living or undead I need to find him, whatever comes next I need to find him to make a clean break from the past. So if you can tell me anything, about him or what he may have become, do so. I'll keep searching regardless, because I know no matter what he is he's not stronger than me."
Zeth stares into the priestess's eyes unblinkingly.
Name/Alias: Harknail. Pronouns: Whatever matches the character Experience: I have been playing D&D since before AD&D, I have played D&D 5e more or less continuously since it first came out. I have been playing PBP for decades, though I had to give up running games due to time constraints. Setting: I've never heard of Wildemount before, at least not that I can remember. Favorite aspect: I like making and playing a wide variety of characters with different personalities. One of my favorite moments was an in game conversation about good vs evil in a PBP game. The conclusion of that conversation was me realizing that my neutral character was actually an evil person doing good things for evil reasons. She still worked fine in a mostly good party. Character thoughts: I am very flexible in character creation and like to tie the character background to the worlds setting. Given a choice I tend to play characters that are weird or unusual in some way. When making characters I'm more concerned about theme than raw power. I try to make them useful to the group, but it's fine if they are the best at combat.
My favorite races are constructs or cats, though I'm happy with anything unusual. And I also do play the common races as well. As for class, it's more a matter of try them all! I had fun with my front line dwarf wizard. He was wearing armor and smashing thing with his warhammer, even though he was pure wizard :-)
Writing sample: Easiest way to provide a writing sample is to copy/paste from some of my active games:
Context: Halleth is some kind of undead we found in a pit, that doesn't seem to realize he's dead.
Asked if there can be good undead:
Rico answers, "I have worked with undead before. I do not know if they were good, but they were capable of working constructively with the living, and with constructs such as I. I am inclined to give him a chance, but I do agree we should be wary of him trying to betray us."
Once he's out of the pit:
Once Halleth is out of the pit, Rico will ask him, "May I check you out? I am the groups healer, and it looks like you have received a nasty head wound."
If he agrees, Rico will confirm that he is undead, try to figure out what type of undead, and if he is at full HP. If not at full HP she'll bind his wounds to see if that works on undead. She knows that her heal spells won't work on undead or most constructs, but perhaps the nonmagical healing would help.
Medicine 20
Religion 24
Healing (if needed) 4+4+(# of his hit dice)
Context: Harknail is a warforged that had been underground a LONG time, this is from when he was invited to join a party the next morning...
Harknail himself had been spending the night pondering what to do next. The obvious course of action would have been to return to Sumerhaven, but no one here had even heard of it. The wizards tower had only been a couple of hours away when his and several other teams had raided it, to put an end to the evil wizard. Yet this nearby town had never heard of it. How long had he been underground that even the name of the town where he worked was forgotten? He was considering applying as a guard for this town, but the offer to join the others seemed more appealing. After being away from the world for so long, to travel and see different things while helping others seemed very appealing. "I doth be honored to be invited to join ye in thy hunt."
Name/Alias: As my user name.....I will also accept Damo, Hey You and pretty much anything else. Pronouns: He/They Experience: Been playing D&D for about 5 years now and some form of RPG PBP for about 30 years. Setting: Got the Wildemount book, OG Critter from early Geek and Sundry Days who still watches weekly. Favorite aspect: Playing someone with different outlooks and life experience and building a Found Family are my two favourite aspects of RPGs in general. Character thoughts: Got a hankering for playing someone of Ki'Nau descent but happy to sample any of the cultures and peoples of Wildemount. Writing sample:
From another PbP here-
Matilda waited impatiently in line sighing dramatically, she looked about for her Aunt but the silly woman had wandered off somewhere....probably to the bakery if rumours about her and Horace were true.
Matilda would not admit it but a growing feeling of disquiet had come over her in the last few minutes...not that disquiet wasn't natural to her anyway. She knew this carnival...knew she'd been here before.....why couldn't she remember? It was always like that.....things she knew for certain that had happened one moment were the next as tangible as soap bubbles. But one thing she was certain of....this place had taken Wirrun from her. And she was angry.....angry that her little brother had disappeared, more angry when her own family denied he had ever existed, more angry still that her mother had left her...barely four at the time, to care for the infant while she mooned over some vapid thing and then had the sheer cheek to deny she had ever bore him. Matilda Fumble-Fire her Aunt had recently taken to calling her, because no matter her attempts she could never get the damn thing to catch.........Matilda hoped her aunt liked her new jumper, it had taken a long time to rub the crysanthemum sap into the wool.....it wouldn't last but the itching would be epic....she hoped Horace liked blotches.
Matilda didn't get on with her family....to be fair Matilda didn't get on with too many people at all. Most of the adults in the town were too stupid to see things right in front of their face and the majority of the children had the attention span of a kitten. But she knew how to fake it, a bright cheery smile usually let them ignore her and let her get on with important things.
She eyed the three men in the line with her, she knew them but had never bothered learning their names.....they were like her father, large blocky objects that mostly got in the way and moved heavy things. Though the older one might at least have a few tales to tell.
As she got to the counter she placed her long-hidden coins down, " Ticket."
" Theres a Hall of Mirrors in there somewhere, right?", it was the last place she could remember where her and Wirrun were together....it was probably a good place to start.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Withdrawn due to lack of time😕
Name/Alias: Grover & Grove are what folks typically call me.
Pronouns: Flexible. People usually default to he/him because of Grover.
Experience: I started 5e and PbP about 14 months ago as a player and just recently started dipping my toes into DMing.
Setting: I have no experience with Wildemount and only the most basic knowledge of Exandria.
Favorite aspect: Not really a single moment but a type of moment...
Of course I love creating characters and collaborating with others to tell a story, especially the RP aspect. Watching the characters interact and develop relationships with each other, whether it be respect or true friendships or rivalries or even genuine dislike.
But what I really love is those rare beautiful moments when a character takes on a life of their own and they do or say something that surprises you. The moments when you stop playing a character and just give a voice to their words.
Character thoughts: I've learned that I definitely dislike playing clerics. I tend to favor arcane casters, especially Bards and Warlocks, but I've also played a couple of Monks recently and they are starting to grow in me. Half-Elves are far and away my favorite race/species.
I do have a recurring character with a well established personality and rough backstory that I love to throw into new settings and scenarios just to see how they change and affect her. She's a runaway Half-Elven noble. Her build usually starts as a Ranger or Rogue but she (almost) always ends up multiclassing into Bard. Not that I'm necessarily set on playing her again, but that would be my default choice.
Relieved that the mummies aren't going to pose a threat to the Accursed, Delvindra changes tack and looses an arrow from her short bow at the leader before rift stepping back to where she left Duwamilly.
"Everyone okay? Anybody hurt?"
(Action-Short bow Attack: 18 Damage: 6, Bonus Action-Rift Step, Free Action-speaking, End of Turn)
Name/Alias: Tristan or Treewy, both is fine Pronouns: he/him Experience: Have Played and DMed 5e for a few years now. Have made experiences with PbP but only as a Player Setting: Listened to all of the CR Podcast of their 2nd campaign, Have the Sourcebook (but i mostly get the books for the character options, to be honest) Favorite aspect: It's an escape from reality, really. It's always nice to play pretend for a while, sit around a table with friends, have a good time and laugh your ass off. Character thoughts: I like to play characters that have "options". This could be a wizard with the right spell for every occasion, or a barbarian ready to push any obstacle out of the way. Currently i play a fighter/monk multiclass that has about 7 different ways to push somebody around or knock them prone. I've also got nothing against a support character that can deliver a heavy blow if required. Writing sample:
Aster Bellis a divine soul sorcerer on his way back home to phandalin. He and his group rest for the night... „May i be your light in every darknes, mylady“ says Aster after he sets the bush on fire with an exagerated, dramatic noble voice , while making the motions of a bow, as good as its possible while sitting. „...even in those barren and shrubles“ While he bows down, he picks up a rock from the ground and casts light on it. „but seriously, i dont think you will keep me from making light. Excuse me but just two of us playing cards isnt all that great. I will try to get some sleep as well.“
Ferdinand "Brimme"Cannith was an artificer infiltrating House Cannith to investigate the houses involvement in the events of the Mournlands We have the writ. Does it say from who it is? Then it surely is enough. Ferdinand takes the coins he is given and deposits all but the last in one of the many pockets. The last he flicks in the air as if he'd flip a coin but he makes no effort to try and catch it with his hand. It instead lands on his shoulder at which point a tiny mechanical creature in the shape of a rhinoceros beetle scuttles out from under the coat-collar. It begins to dig it's tiny jaw into the coin, which is just as big as the construct itself.
Name/Alias: Aaggie or Doc Pronouns: No preference Experience: Been playing D&D from the very beginning, both as a player and as a DM Setting: I know of it, not much details Favorite aspect: A way to take a break from the normal day. I am a writer, so it helps keep my descriptive writing skills sharp and story telling. Character thoughts: Fighter types, like Samurai who come from a knight background; cavaliers who come from a mercenary veteran background, or Paladins who follow the Pandion Order, based on the David Eddings series of Sir Sparhawk. Writing sample: Hanzo (Samurai) during the short break as the part rests and healed, pulled out his flute and began to play soothing music. He looked over at the wounded and frustrated archer, disappointed in their attempt to stop the attacking Goblins. He stopped playing for a moment, "Don't be so hard on yourself, you fought with honor and helped us defeat them in the end. That is all one can ask of a fellow member. Take strength in that." He returned to playing his flute.
Felt guilty about using one of my better posts as a sample. This one is more typical of how I write. About 2-3 posts later in the same campaign.
With a curse in Elvish on her lips, Kit reacts instinctively, charging recklessly after the [captured] Drow long before her rational mind catches up. Later, she might try to explain that there was no room for hesitation, or that she knew that she owed her life to the Drow, or that the trap was already sprung regardless...
But in the moment there was only one truth. When the fear hit and the adrenaline took over, there was only fight or flight... and Kit Forthall was a fighter.
Name/Alias: Culuril Pronouns: Matching the character is usually fine. Experience: I started with D&D long, long ago. (Basic and AD&D - whatever edition that was.) Played other TTRPGs then was out of it for a while. Started learning about 5e about 4 years ago now from DDB. Played mostly PbP - both as DM and player. Setting: I know very little about Wildemount. I have read some about various things in Exandria. But again, not a lot. And I don't know anything about Dangerous Designs Favorite aspect: My favorite part is the role-play. Being able to create the character, play out its story, and interact with others. Character thoughts: I am very much willing to be flexible. I'm not sure I even have a favorite class as I like being able to get a taste of playing different classes. I guess I would lean towards a Warlock (Celestial) or Wizard (Chronurgy or Graviturgy). Perhaps a half-orc from the lands of the Kryn Dynasty with a Soldier background. Although she grew up around a mercenary company, fighting was not really for her. Backup choices would be Barbarian, Paladin or Fighter but could do others! I might avoid Rogue though just because I'm playing a couple of those right now! Writing sample:
Rylia is initially focused on her viol and its broken neck. "Repaired? I don't know..." She picks up the instrument carefully and examines it, looking for other signs of damage. "This is going to cost a lot. And tonight! What will we do for tonight's show?" She takes a moment, then stands, coming over at Bryn's invitation to get some food. She takes a piece of fruit and bites into it. "Your pack is gone too. Did you have the journal? The person that attacked us wanted a journal. Was it another warforged assassin?"
Once she gets her fill of some of the food, she heads over to take a bath. Cleaned, she examines the clothes and picks something to wear. (OOC - What sort of clothes were left? Are they our clothes or just something our benefactor left?) She takes her time, puzzling at both the drawings of things potentially from House Canith as well as the symbols of House Ghallanda that Bryn notes in looking about. "Yea, I think the Broken Anvil was where we were supposed to go," Rylia says in response to Bryn's question. "Do you suppose it was House Ghallanda behind our rescue?"
Name/Alias: Swift Pronouns: He/him Experience: Been playing 5e since a few months after it came out (Started at the end of 2014). Been doing PbP since 2018. I have lots of experience as a player, and a lot (but less) as a DM. Setting: I know more about Tal'dorei, owning that book and having watched all of CR campaign 1. I ran out of enough free time to watch it during the second campaign so am less familiar with Wildemount. I am currently playing through Unwelcome Spirits on here though, and from when that was picked, I know the basic plot hook for this. Favorite aspect: I do very much like creating characters (and hopefully playing them). I also am a fan of problem solving, and trying to find creative ways around issues (other than the standard break things or fight) Character thoughts: Honestly, I am happy with anything. I would prefer to use a race from MotM just because there are races in there I have yet to try. But equally am tempted by a gnome to tie it to the setting. And I would probably try to avoid druid or monk as they are the two I have done most. But I haven't found a class I don't enjoy playing. In terms of backstory, Writing sample: (This is a post from a different PbP here. Sometimes I have longer more fleshed out posts, sometimes I have more basic ones if I don't have much time and there isn't much going on for my characters)
Artan rushes back to the camp, the sound of a goose honking coming from the camp as he approaches (60ft range), staff in his hand stretching out to the centre of camp. As he gets back, anyone not being woken up by the (un)natural alarm clock he will go round shaking awake.
"Beasts coming.... whole pack.... big one included"he says between deep breaths as he gets his composure back after his sprint back. He then focuses on breathing carefully before they arrive so he can be better prepared.
Name/Alias: Bobby Pronouns:he/him Experience: haven’t played in years but love roleplaying and exploring character interactions. Setting: nothing really, just read bits and pieces online Favorite aspect: roleplaying is my fave
Thistlewick, circle of spores druid
Character thoughts:
Once a pariah among his kin, Thistlewick, a goblin druid of the Circle of Spores, found solace in the depths of the Underdark. Banished from his tribe for his peculiar talents and affinity for fungal life, he sought refuge amidst the shadows and twisting tunnels of the subterranean realm. There, he honed his skills in the ancient druidic arts, mastering the delicate balance between life and decay.
In the heart of the Underdark, Thistlewick became known as a skilled alchemist, crafting potent potions and elixirs from the exotic fungi that thrived in the darkness. His creations were sought after by denizens of the depths, from drow assassins to duergar warlords, each eager to wield the power of his concoctions to further their own agendas.
Yet, as Thistlewick's renown grew, so too did his curiosity for the world beyond the confines of the Underdark. Tales of adventure and glory reached his ears, whispered by travelers who passed through the darkened tunnels of his domain. And so, fueled by a longing for exploration and a desire to test his skills in the world above, Thistlewick made the bold decision to venture to the surface.
Emerging from the depths into the blinding light of the sunlit world, Thistlewick found himself awed by the vastness and diversity of the surface realm. With his trusty potions in tow, he embarked on a journey of discovery, eager to explore the lands beyond the horizon and seek out the adventures that awaited him.
Writing sample:
As Thistlewick, the goblin Circle of Spores Druid, crept through the dimly lit tunnels of the Underdark, he encountered a duergar dwarf slave trader, his heavy footsteps echoing against the cavern walls. Knowing the danger that lay ahead, Thistlewick pressed himself against the shadows, silently willing himself to blend into the darkness.
With each careful step, Thistlewick navigated his way past the duergar, his movements swift and silent as he skirted around the edges of the trader’s path. Drawing upon his connection to the fungal life that thrived in the depths, he summoned a cloud of spores to cloak his presence, obscuring him from the keen senses of the duergar.
As the duergar passed by, oblivious to Thistlewick’s presence, the goblin breathed a sigh of relief, his heart pounding in his chest with the thrill of the narrow escape. With a final glance over his shoulder, he continued on his journey through the Underdark, knowing that the shadows would conceal his movements and keep him safe from the dangers that lurked in the depths.
Name/Alias: vetallica/vet Pronouns: he/him Experience: Newcomer to both D&D and PBP. I have never played in person. This would be my 3rd campaign in PBP, 2nd as player. Setting: I own the EGtW book and am currently running Unwelcome Spirits PBP (Unwelcome Spirits - Vetallica's Wildemount), though I have never watched Critical Role. Current avatar is my take on Morgid from Unwelcome Spirits. Favorite aspect: I am inspired by the role play and creative outlet offered by the PBP medium. Character thoughts: I like the idea of a pallid elf druid or maybe some sort of dunamancy wizard, though very flexible. Love the heroic chronicle system & excited to incorporate it into character build! Writing sample: Latest post as player (from Grover's campaign):
Alistair's eyes narrow as the source of the commotion reveals itself. Two soldiers, clad in black leather armor emblazoned with a menacing black eagle, emerge from the trees. They roughly prod a figure along with them, a prisoner stumbling on the rocky creek bed. A bolt of recognition strikes Alistair – the insignia matches the hobgoblins they encountered earlier, the Black Eagle Barony. A hint of surprise crosses his features, then a slow, predatory smile spreads across his lips.
Alistair's mind races. These soldiers are enemies, of that there is no doubt. But the prisoner... who is he? A captured scout from a rival force? Or someone entirely different? The thought of gleaning information, perhaps even gaining a new companion, is undeniably tempting. He could almost hear Fierna's infernal whispers, urging violence and dominance. The promise of power flickers at the edge of his thoughts, a dark counterpoint to the strategic advantage this situation presents. A new thought forms in his mind: the enemy of my enemy is my friend, a grim reminder of his own precarious alliances.
With a swift, practiced movement, he steps out from behind the cover of the trees (H10), aiming his crossbow directly at the unsuspecting crossbowman. The prisoner flinches at the sudden sound, momentarily halting the procession. Alistair unleashes a bolt with a sharp snap, a dark offering propelled by infernal whispers, that streaks through the air. Before the soldiers can react, Alistair retreats back into the sheltering embrace of the trees (G12). His heart pounds in his chest, a mixture of dark satisfaction and the thrill of the hunt coursing through him.
Attack: 20 Piercing Damage: 4
As DM (my Unwelcome Spirits campaign):
An exasperated gasp escapes the party's ragged breaths as both of Morgid's arrows find nothing but air. The first one, aimed with deadly precision, zips past Bullywug 3's ear, the fletching whispering a chilling promise of demise that never arrives. The second arrow, meant to cripple the creature, goes wide, embedding itself harmlessly in the swamp muck a hair's breadth from Bullywug 3's powerful leg. Disbelief washes over Morgid's face, momentarily replacing the grim determination. Panic threatens to bubble up, but years of experience quickly bring it back under control. He slams his longbow to the ground in frustration, the unmistakable clatter echoing through the swamp. Bullywug 3, emboldened by this unexpected turn of events, lets out a guttural roar, a primal sound that vibrates through the very ground. Its beady eyes, fill with a renewed surge of aggression.
Name/Alias: Morthor Pronouns: Experience: I have some basic knowledge, but am a new player Setting: How much do you know about Wildemount? Nothing as of now, but will be doing my research on it to get familiar. Favorite aspect: I would say my favorite aspect of D&D even though I am new, is the ability to be creative Character thoughts: I would love to play an Elf character. I find Elves to be fascinating. Writing sample: As Morthor is working his garden, he is thinking of an adventure. Maybe into the local village, possibly into the woods. Village first to visit the bookstore, get some supplies, and books, then off to the forest. Morthor like to read, and study plants. He even like to teach others about the plants, and learn potions.
Thanks so much to all of you for applying! I really appreciate the interest and the time you’ve taken to do so. As mentioned, recruitment will close Wednesday, at which point I’ll make the party selection.
Just a quick note that recruitment will be closing in about 6 hours, at which point I'll be making my (frankly extremely difficult) selection. I'm so very grateful to everyone who's taken the time to fill out applications for my first whack at DMing!
I'm going to need to withdraw my application. I thought that I would have more time opening up this summer but it looks like that's not going to be the case. Best of luck to everyone!
I'm sorry but I'm also going to have to drop out. I just got accepted to another campaign and some new stuff is happening at my job that'll cut into my free time.

Pronouns:
Experience: If you don’t mind listing your experience with D&D/5e and with PBP generally, that’d be great.
Name/Alias: Masqueraider
Pronouns: He/him/his
Experience: I have over 10 years of experience with PBP generally and have been playing D&D 5E since it came out.
Pronouns: Whatever matches the character
Experience: I have been playing D&D since before AD&D, I have played D&D 5e more or less continuously since it first came out.
Name/Alias: As my user name.....I will also accept Damo, Hey You and pretty much anything else.
Pronouns: He/They
Experience: Been playing D&D for about 5 years now and some form of RPG PBP for about 30 years.

Combat Round (from Chronicles of the Accursed):
Relieved that the mummies aren't going to pose a threat to the Accursed, Delvindra changes tack and looses an arrow from her short bow at the leader before rift stepping back to where she left Duwamilly.
"Everyone okay? Anybody hurt?"
(Action-Short bow Attack: 18 Damage: 6, Bonus Action-Rift Step, Free Action-speaking, End of Turn)
Name/Alias: Tristan or Treewy, both is fine
Pronouns: he/him
Experience: Have Played and DMed 5e for a few years now. Have made experiences with PbP but only as a Player
Setting: Listened to all of the CR Podcast of their 2nd campaign, Have the Sourcebook (but i mostly get the books for the character options, to be honest)
Favorite aspect: It's an escape from reality, really.
Aster Bell is a divine soul sorcerer on his way back home to phandalin. He and his group rest for the night...
„May i be your light in every darknes, my lady“ says Aster after he sets the bush on fire with an exagerated, dramatic noble voice , while making the motions of a bow, as good as its possible while sitting. „...even in those barren and shrubles“ While he bows down, he picks up a rock from the ground and casts light on it. „but seriously, i dont think you will keep me from making light. Excuse me but just two of us playing cards isnt all that great. I will try to get some sleep as well.“
Ferdinand "Brimme" Cannith was an artificer infiltrating House Cannith to investigate the houses involvement in the events of the Mournlands
We have the writ.
Olloray Dim - Limbo's Pit
Gunther Korroden - Nightmares in the Mist
Name/Alias: Aaggie or Doc
Pronouns: No preference
Experience: Been playing D&D from the very beginning, both as a player and as a DM
Setting: I know of it, not much details
Favorite aspect: A way to take a break from the normal day.
Name/Alias: Culuril
Pronouns: Matching the character is usually fine.
And I don't know anything about Dangerous Designs
Favorite aspect: My favorite part is the role-play.

Name/Alias: Swift
Pronouns: He/him
Experience: Been playing 5e since a few months after it came out (Started at the end of 2014).
I also am a fan of problem solving, and trying to find creative ways around issues (other than the standard break things or fight)
Character thoughts: Honestly, I am happy with anything. I would prefer to use a race from MotM just because there are races in there I have yet to try. But equally am tempted by a gnome to tie it to the setting. And I would probably try to avoid druid or monk as they are the two I have done most. But I haven't found a class I don't enjoy playing. In terms of backstory,

Experience: Newcomer to both D&D and PBP.

Latest post as player (from Grover's campaign):

Name/Alias: Morthor
Pronouns:
Experience: I have some basic knowledge, but am a new player
Setting: How much do you know about Wildemount? Nothing as of now, but will be doing my research on it to get familiar.
Favorite aspect: I would say my favorite aspect of D&D even though I am new, is the ability to be creative
Character thoughts: I would love to play an Elf character.
Please post here once selections have been made, so those who are not selected aren't left waiting.
Yes, will definitely make a post as soon as messages have been sent so no one has to spend extra time wondering!
Sigh...
I'm going to need to withdraw my application. I thought that I would have more time opening up this summer but it looks like that's not going to be the case. Best of luck to everyone!
Applications are now officially closed! Thanks, everyone — I‘ll plan to send out messages tomorrow, but will post in this thread when I do.
And thanks for the heads up, @groverbloom — hope things settle down a little for you!
I'm sorry but I'm also going to have to drop out. I just got accepted to another campaign and some new stuff is happening at my job that'll cut into my free time.
