The arrows pierce Alaina’s foe and strike the wall beyond in a clatter. For a moment it is uncertain if the Wraith will rake the little sorcerer again, but then it begins to contort in strange angles to bend and fold and snap silently until it is a point of shadow in the middle of the air.
Those who can see it suddenly see within the wraith’s final shadow a great vista, an occupied and well lit forge and a well dressed man, directing underlings, hoarding wealth, enchanting magic, fighting Orcish foes. The scenes flicker by, faster and faster, and the emotions the man felt flicker by faster and faster too until your heart is racing and your eyes are bleeding and you try to look away—
[Alaina, Gudrune, Capone, and Jayson, you have witnessed Mormesk’s final Throes of Agony. Please roll a Sanity Save. DC 14.]
[21 psychic damage on a failed save, or 10 psychic damage on a successful save]
Lorken looks at his companions, confused, mouthing silent questions. Seeing them stricken, he looks around wildly, trying to understand what has happened. At last he thinks to move out of the zone of silence, to Jayson's side.
Broma, his auditory senses dulled by the weight of silence, turns to see the suffering of his compatriots. Fascinating. One so rarely has a chance to observe unnatural mental strain, especially outside of battle. He steps back to join Lorken, though it's mostly to observe Jayson's suffering. 'Tis a cruel, but thoroughly satisfying endeavor. However... when it becomes clear the mental strain has done significant damage, the strange doctor begins humming several off-key notes. He then reaches out, touching Jayson's arm. The remedy is by no means perfect, but it should lessen the strain, at least. He stands up, and returns to the spot upon which the Wraith fell.

"What in the hells is wrong?!"
Jayson replies in agony, "The images of the wraith's death throws assaulted our minds. It overwhelmed our minds."
ooc - dmg 21 applied.
Jayson gathers himself enough to stand again. "You didn't feel that?"
A wave of healing energy comforts Jayson, "Many thanks friend Broma. That feels much better."
Capone watches as it claws at his head, he feels the devestation it could cause if it knew where to strike properly, but his head wasn't the right place for that. The sting is enough to cause him to hop back, and engage his internal defenses, luckily doing so just in time. As the creature dies, and the flicker of its agony is unleashed, he is able to shut most of it out.
Saves with a 14 on the dot. Takes 10 psychic damage, reduced to 5 from resistance.
"How dreadful!" He beams telepathically to everyone. "Try not to let it overwhelm you!" He tries to warn in vain, too late to be of any real benefit.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.
Jayson appreciates the gesture, “The visual was very disturbing it affected me more than I anticipated. I think it is over. Let’s search the room my friends.”

You find that the room may have been a guest-house or perhaps a bunk for those who worked the Forge of Spells. The furnishings are long rotted, if they were not burnt and broken first. The only feature intact within the room is the scorched chest in front of which the Wraith hovered.
The scorched chest is unlocked and contains 1,100 cp, 160 sp, 100 ep, five malachites each worth 10 gp, and a wooden pipe adorned with platinum filigree worth 150 gp.
Though the door is broken, and it clearly does not match the description of the storeroom that Faith and his former party made into their own rest place, the walls are solid, and the doors are mostly intact.
With some work, and securement of the door, this might be a place that you could rest securely… or at least it might be, if Lorken were no so certain that there is someone in this cavern with you.
With Jayson’s scream of pain and the sounds of combat that occurred from beyond the spell of silence, you cannot yet bet certain if the higher level of the Starry Cavern is free of foes.
Jayson says mentally, "Let's do any banging to secure the room door while the silence spells is active then I can drop the spell early to get a sense of the place through sensory checks. We can check for traps in the place before touching anything of concern. I can help others doing any investigation or other skills. You can also assist me should my skills be better suited in completing the task."
Jayson will check the room or assist another for traps, secure the door or any other checks. Jayson drops concentration on the silence spell once they are ready or if time runs out.

Lorken puts out an arm to steady Jayson, then shakes his head.
"Didn't feel a thing. It's done then?"
He retrieves his lantern, then looks to see if he can perceive any other threat coming from the direction of the stairs.
