Class: Warlock - Storm Sorcery 1/Genie (Djinni) for 2+ to end of campaign -- However, I wouldn't want it to actually be a Genie. If you're happy I'd want to reflavour the character class as a warlock of the Storm or Cloud Giant whose work he studied and who he ultimately worked to aid as part of the Hidden Rune. Everything would be the same mechanically, I'd just change the way I describe his features and genie vessel etc. to be more giant (his crystal orb being a giant child's marble or something, for example).
Background: Rune Carver from Bigby's. It comes with Giant language and a feat. It's also one of the newer backgrounds that includes a Rune Carving feat as part of its whole deal.
Ability scores: Rolled on page 2.
Backstory: Ord Less the Human is the smallest member of the Hidden Rune, perhaps. Not in contribution but in stature. Raised with this organisation of preservation, since his parents gave him over to them at the age of 8, Ord has grown used to living amongst the ruins of the giants, seeking not to restore their glory but to preserve records of their majesty and magic. So good at their language and script of Runes was Ord, at an early age, that he gained the eye of a kindly old Storm Giant, named Nym.
Nym teaches Ord many things, from the magic of lesser Giant runes, to the wisdom of the clouds and sea. Like all Storm Giants, Nym's aid has not been without risk or purpose. Ord finds himself now, at the turning of an age for the Giant Kind, on a mission that has taken him amongst the small folk. Nym has hinted at a great working of Annam. Ord begins the adventure excited to see the soft hand of the Father of Giants at work, but as it becomes clear what is about to happen to Giant Kind, his feelings will surely change...
(Story wise, I think a Giant Patron in some very, very remote land may allow opportunities for information. It would also give Ord a positive view of pre-Ordning smash Giant society in its decline that is different to many giants, and so be invested and counter to this sudden reshaping of Giant society when he has spent his entire life so far in preserving it).
House rules you think I should use (if any):
I'm agnostic. Two I think are good (for PCs and then enemies both, particularly if we don't start at level 1 with level 1s HP) are:
1. Critical hits. Instead of rolling damage dice twice and possibly getting 2. Roll it 'once' pretending that you've already rolled maximal damage on that first roll as the critical. So for Eldritch blast you get a free 10, to then roll and add to.
2. Potions as a Bonus Action for yourself. Potions you give to others as an action.
3. As a Warlock I'm reasonably OK with Gritty Realism, and I recognise that many other classes may not be. Pacing wise, sometimes it offers a lot in story telling and pacing when your adventuring day is a week not an actual day. Of course, not every class gets anything on a short rest. I just mention it to say I don't mind if it's normal or GR, not to advocate for it.

Hi!
I'd love to get into the game! I am a teacher just starting Summer Break, so I should be able to post regularly.
Name: Aejor Kethremixint
Race:Eladrin Elf (Spring) (I can totally do Wood Elf instead, but I've always wanted to try the Eladrin)
Class: War Domain Cleric (prefer level 5)
Background: Far Traveler
Ability scores: Ability scores: 16151316911
Backstory: Aejor originates from (very) far away. He still sometimes struggles with social norms and understanding some people's behavior, or more importantly, why people sometimes seem frustrated by his. He was raised as a warrior in his hometown, but was banished, or sent off on a secret mission, or ended a disasterous romantic relationship, or....it is never quite clear to anyone else (or Aejor for that matter). He has lived in various parts of the Sword Coast for the past few decades, flitting and flying where the breeze takes him. Aejor is, however, a fierce warrior and an extremely loyal (if temporary) friend.
Sweet. Will also say that groverbloom and I do have some shared character background stuff that we have talked on, so our characters could know each other if we are both chosen.
If you'll add me to the PM that you talked about this in, I'll look it over and see if it works.
1. Critical hits. Instead of rolling damage dice twice and possibly getting 2. Roll it 'once' pretending that you've already rolled maximal damage on that first roll as the critical. So for Eldritch blast you get a free 10, to then roll and add to.
That's my crit rule! Also it looks like I'll be using drink a potion as a bonus action.

Only if you'd want to! I added it as a suggestion, more than any kind of "you have to do this!"

As a soldier in Baldurs gate, Garrak primarily worked in the forges of the barraks, Garrak comes from a long line of smiths who take great pride in their work, however in joining the Baldurs gate city guard Garrak disappointed his father who believed that the city guard primarily used poor quality weapons and armour, it wasn't good enough for his family's skills, seeking to improve his standing in the eyes of his father and also growing bored with the repetitive work, forging and repairing the same weapons and armour for years, Garrak chooses a life of excitement and hopefully will be able to do some good and bring peace to a small corner of the world
House rules you think I should use (if any):
I've had good success in other games I've played in regarding potion drinking- full action= full possible healing. bous action- roll for healing
Name:Arcaelothoryx'x Race: Ilithid (Custom Lineage) Class: Psionicist (Aberrant Sorcerer) Background: Spy (Criminal) Backstory: While the ilithid enclaves of the Underdark are not under immediate threat by the incursion of giantkind in the realms above, the elder overmind has still deemed it necessary to investigate this rising power. While other more inconspicuous spies certainly have been sent before him, young Arcaelothoryx'x too was tasked with finding out more about what is behind the recent appearance of giants and if it can be exploited for the nefarious purposes of the ilithid's. Unbeknownst to his kin, young Arcaelothoryx'x has no intention of ever returning to the Underdark, his contact with the people of the surface world having made him seen another way of life, the way of the brave adventurer. Still not ready to sever all ties with his home, young Arcaelothoryx'x is still seeking more information about the giants and their aims, all the while taking on the life of an adventurer of sorts, doing good deeds for a reasonable price, and so far in the harsh lands of the north he has not been judged by his apperance but rather by his actions. He definitely still has some things to learn about the ways of a hero though as the concept of good is still something he is struggling to grasp.
As a child ending up in the material plane from Shadowfell Paqen was taken in by the Emerald Enclave and taught their tenants. His corvid curiosity became focused on two things as he matured.
One was the many different peoples of his new home and land. He would spend hours watching rituals and day to day activities of folks in the Enclave. This being noticed by his superiors would assign him to study and keep an eye on new towns and their growth and interactions with the natural world. To identify and help address potential clashes between civilization and nature.
The other interest was the stars and the heavens. While the days were full of watching people the nights were full of observing the heavens. This focus is where he begins to draw his Druidic powers from.
Backstory: The sole daughter of a noble. The males have run an Arctic village for generations and no doubt will for generations more if they keep listening to the strong and wise women in their lives, like herself.... Her father quickly learned that tactics and archery were strengths so she now regularly goes hunting to maintain those skills and provides specialized guard duty for the village. Can be either Lv 1 or 5.
I find that stats don't matter as much as people think. I'm glad I rolled well but it's really just a 5% boost here and there, no big deal.
The stats matter for skill checks and stuff, so getting good stuff on the stats your class doesn't use is good for things like a) a wizard with a 19 in intelligence but a 16 in strength can wield a staff and do some damage. b) A fighter with a 20 strength and 18 dex and 16 con can do some crazy stuff, etc. Three stats that are good are extremely important.
Absolutely! I'm playing a wild magic sorceror in another threadgame, and coz I lucked out on DEX and WIS she's been able to fill in as backup for our rogue AND for our ranger at various times as needed
Awesome! Fey-touched seems to fit Zostri's background the best, but Skilled or one of the alertness/observant/sentinel (or healer) would make him more versatile ... and might reflect some of what he picked up while he was still hoping to follow in his parent's footsteps as ranger or druid ... And of course Moderate Armor's nice for any spellslinger
All in all, I'm comfortable leaving that open to fit the eventual group (presuming of course that you pick Zostri to be part of it ;).. If you're light on the healer types then I'll go that way, otherwise I'll probably go for the armor
