K: you manage to push off the edge of the pit and leap over the trap.
You all continue north along the path.
Following the goblins’ trail, you come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.
Badger: "We need to stealth to that cave entrance and see if it's guarded. Unfortunately, I'm starting to feel rather useless with poor stealth and poorer ranged attacks to help cover you. Best I can do is run in should things go south. Thoughts?"
The thickets are too dense to get through, so you must move north to the opening before the cave mouth. As you turn the corner, you see two scouting goblins waiting for you, both with shortbows.
Ash rushes forward with his shortsword out, slashing at the farthest goblin, hoping to get into position to give K flanking advantage. 17 to hit, 7 slashing damage.
K shouts, "Ow! Badger!" He then rushes forward with his quarterstaff, smacking the first goblin and following that up with a bonus action punch to the jaw.
Badger hurries to K. "My gods, Kristofferson, you look like a pin doll. Let me see if I can help with that. I've not done this before, so please give me feedback on my performance."
He lays his hands on K's shoulders, closes his eyes, and let's the divine powers of Tyr flow through him (using his Lay on Hands Pool to heal K for 10 hp)
"I can, Kristofferson, but I'll be fine. Now let's stealth into that cave. If you don't mind, I'll stay 10' back and try to be quiet with this clanging armor."
Just inside the cave mouth, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. The cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and is filled with the stench of animals. Savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears where two wolves are chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf’s chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite.

K: You step on a pit trap. Make a dexterity saving throw to see if you can avoid falling in.
K dexterity saving throw: 13
K: you manage to push off the edge of the pit and leap over the trap.
You all continue north along the path.
Following the goblins’ trail, you come across a large cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows out of the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow dry path leads into the cave on the right-hand side of the stream.

K: "It is okay to let us take the lead here, Badger. We'll stealth to that opening and call you over should we need immediate support."
K starts east to cross the river and creep up into the shrubs.
Stealth: 8
Ash nods to Badger and follows K. Stealth: 17
The thickets are too dense to get through, so you must move north to the opening before the cave mouth. As you turn the corner, you see two scouting goblins waiting for you, both with shortbows.
Initiative
Badger waits for a signal and has a javelin ranged attack readied in case he sees a goblin in range.
The goblins both loose arrows at K, who led the party into the area.
Goblin 1 - 16 to hit, 7 piercing damage
Goblin 2 - 21 to hit, 3 piercing damage
They stand their ground, having no where to run, and reload.
Ash is up!
Quarterstaff attack: 14 (with flanking advantage) to hit, 6 bludgeoning damage
Punch bonus attack: 25 (crit! with flanking advantage) to hit, 8 bludgeoning damage
Ash: the sword slices through the goblin's throat, killing it.
K: The quarterstaff glances off the goblin's rough hide armor, but the jaw punch is devastating, dropping the goblin dead.
Battle has ended.
Badger hurries to the clearing only to see that battle has ended. "Well done again, boys."
He mutters, "I need a better ranged weapon."
Ash checks the bodies for anything valuable.
Investigation: 12
K pulls both arrows out of his torso. "Remember when I said we should get another healing potion? Because: ow!"
K breathes deeply. "Wow, thank you, Badger. I feel like new. But you're hurt, too, can you do the same magic on yourself?"
"I can, Kristofferson, but I'll be fine. Now let's stealth into that cave. If you don't mind, I'll stay 10' back and try to be quiet with this clanging armor."
Ash: "That sounds fine. I'll lead this time."
Ash, K, and then Badger creep into the cave.
