A century ago, the world of Aarde burned in the fires of global war. Terrible weapons unleashed. Unspeakable atrocities committed. Impossible alliances formed by necessity, and institutions once thought eternal were swept aside. The Last War was the greatest and worst conflict in the written history of Aarde.
Within its shadow, another war was being fought, a secret war, the Occult War. A conflict between the Thaumaturge Alliance and Obskura, spurned by the latter's pursuit of powerful artifacts for use in the Rite of Apotheosis, which would allow the worst of Aarde to ascend to godhood. At the Battle of the Dawn their profane ritual was stopped, their leaders slain, and the rest of their organization scattered like ashes in the wind.
While the Last War unleashed terrible weapons upon the world: new war magics, complex siege engines, and devastating armaments, the Occult War saw these secretive organizations calling up real nightmares from the bowels of the world. Ancient magics the rest of Aarde could never dream of, and forces that would make a god shudder. Things that should never have seen the light of day, and hopefully never will again.
At the conclusion of the conflict the remnants of the Thaumaturge Alliance agreed upon one thing: the occult objects unleashed during the war, and those that still remain in the hidden places of the world, are too dangerous for the rest of Aarde know of. There was an ideological split however, on what should be done about these objects. Those that remained as Thaumaturge maintained that they should be hunted down and destroyed, so they may never threaten Aarde again. A splinter group, come to be known as the Autumnal Authority (or the Authority for short), believed that rashly destroying them was just as dangerous as letting them roam free. Their efforts focus on containing these ancient creatures, items, and magics so they may be learned from.
In the peace times that have followed since the end of the dual conflicts, both groups have maintained a veil of secrecy. Outside of the highest officers of government in Aarde's nations (kings, queens, emperors, etc...), they are unheard of.
You yourself might have never even dreamed of their existence, were it not for a fateful encounter one night in the city of Ohdrid, at the Moonlit Stag...
Greetings again Forum, I'm looking for four players ready for a story that starts in a run-down tavern, where they will soon be introduced to a world of secrets they never thought possible! Characters will begin at 4th level, and advance through milestone leveling. Generate your ability scores via the dice roller(re-roll 1's), choose a background, and submit a small backstory or personality description either here or directly to me in a private message.
The most important thing I'm looking for are players who will stick around and regularly post. I've already had one campaign fall flat here because too many people disappeared before the first few pages even filled up!
For story purposes, Fey races such as the Faeries, Eladrin, Bugbear, etc...Will not be available to player-characters. Elves/half-elves are fine, but lore-wise they will have no connection to the Feywild in this world. To your character, the Feywild (or a realm like it) is a childish fable!
Hey! First time player and I'd love to try a game out!
I'm using the phone version of the website and can't get the dice roller to work for CRAP! So are you okay if I use physical rolls or rolls in the app? I understand if that makes things to hard or causes you to question die roll honesty and don't want to deal with that.
Farley Flaverings. A traveling chef who's mission is too make the most delicious meals out of the most horrific of creatures. He is very knowledgeable about the beasts of the land as well as their flavors. He wants to make the tastiest if dishes even if he has to fight for it.

If you're on chrome, you can go to the top right to the menu that shows 'new tab, new incognito tab, etc.' And if you scroll down, you should be able to 'desktop site' with a little box next to it. Check that box and you should be able to access the dice roller.
Wow, the story actually sounds pretty interesting! If you don't mind, I have a few questions though:
* What level do you see the PCs ending the campaign at? * Abilities are rolled at 4d6, drop the lowest, don't reroll 1's, correct? If the result is undesireable, can Standard Array be used instead? * How much combat do you intend to have, versus roleplay and/or exploration?
Small backstory: Vacan fell in with the wrong crowd at an early age. He developed skills on the wrong side of the law. These skills served him well and kept him from getting caught, but after years of struggling to stay ahead of the law, Vacan finally decided to leave the Underdark and his old life behind. On the surface, he found it difficult to fit in or to make a decent living. Then he realized he could utilize the skills he learned in the Underdark and become a bounty hunter. His ease with fitting in with criminals, and his proficiency in using the darkness to his advantage, made him a useful tool to those looking for others.

Sorry, like I've said I'm looking for players that will stick around. That means people with established posting histories. I'm not looking to onboard new players in this campaign.

PCs will hurry along to Tier 3 level of play and stick around there. So somewhere in the 11-15 range.
That's fine.
Likely an even split, but it depends on the party really. If players engage more with roleplay, there will be more roleplay. If everyone is snoozing during exploration, I'll cut back on exploration.
What deities are available to pick from for Clerics?
Is homebrew allowed?
Any official sources, I've listed the specific restrictions in the first post.
Divine magic is rare enough in this setting to be considered miraculous. There are many faiths, but for all of remembered history no god or goddess has walked the earth of Aarde. If you want to play a divine-touched character, pick a domain and describe what kind of deity your character would follow. If your chosen we can build from there.
No.

Rolling for new scores since "reroll 1's always" has now been specified:
Original roll: Ability scores: 8 11 9 12 15 13
8 has 2 1's; rolling 4 more d6s and picking the first 2 that aren't 1's: 2 4 2 5
11 has 1 1; rolling 2 more d6s and picking the first 1 that isn't a 1: 4 5
9 has 1 1; rolling 2 more d6s and picking the first 1 that isn't a 1: 2 3
12 has 1 1; rolling 2 more d6s and picking the first 1 that isn't a 1: 3 1
15 has no 1's
13 has 1 1; rolling 2 more d6s and picking the first 1 that isn't a 1: 6 1
Unfortunately not for this campaign.

I'm unable to access Notes because your character isn't in a Campaign setup by me.
