Echo Nexus is a sapient golem, a vessel for arcane power he has spent years trying to study and harness. His earliest memories are of a gruff dwarven tinkerer fussing over his body. He does not remember his creation, nor any 'growth' in his life. His caretaker gave him a cursory education, particularly in magic and enchantment. But after a few short decades, the tinkerer abruptly handed Echo Nexus a pile of adventuring gear and asked him to leave town - and to keep a low profile. Echo himself is mostly ignorant of the Occult War, though it may have implications for his very nature. He has spent the last few years travelling, working just enough to afford new parchment, inks, and the occasional roof over his head.
Echo Nexus is a warforged, with the ruined background to reflect catastrophic damage and the loss of his memory. He is an artificer/wizard, reflecting his need to maintain his own body.

This looks pretty cool, and I do a bunch of PBP, so I think I qualify for what you're looking for in a player. For now, I'll use this post as a placeholder while I think up some characters. But, I do have a few things to ask (sorry for all the questions, I'm very curious)

If it would be possible to provide some specific lore that I could build a character off of, I would appreciate it. From what it seems, your lore writing does not disappoint, so I'm sure I can craft a good character with what you give me. The lore can be about whatever as long as I can build a character off of it.

Do I need to optimize my character a bunch so they don't feel useless, or can I build my character based on what makes sense within the story with no regards to power? I'm fine with either, I just want to make sure my character can contribute to the party.

I would say give me a character archetype or like a theme, and I can likely give you lore to build off of. Something like..."disgruntled former priest, who has found power in a new faith," or "eccentric archaeologist that believes Aarde's history is not as it has been told." It can also be as simple as "lone wanderer" or "hot-headed soldier."
That is dependent on the rest of the party. With a campaign I have running right now on the forum, the group of players I have are very...Tactical. And I'm going to have to make adjustments to how I build combat encounters to actually challenge them.

Darnell is a former criminal, after a horrible accident he caused, he swore to change his life. Becoming less impulsive and more in controle of his emotions.
Like everyone else, Vorga has dreams. Unlike others though, his dreams sometimes come true. Mostly it's little things, like foreseeing a bottle fall off a table before it happens or the dinner menu at his favor watering hole. But lately, his dreams have been more intense, and much more complicated. His dreams feel like memories. Not his memories, but those belonging to someone else. The memories are old, and pertain to war, monsters, and the Thaumaturge Alliance. He can't help but think they belong to a relative of his from long past.
Vorga needs to discover what these dreams mean. It's time for him to leave the labs and libraries he has spent so much time in, and discover what is happening in his head. It's time to discover the connection between his dreams, his past, and his future.
