As the four of you float up into the sky and look out over the carnival you see a sizeable crowd gathering at the edge of the lake, you see fairgoers leaving the Thunderdome with frizzy hair and small scorch marks, you see children clamoring to board the carousel which seems to be run by a horse of sorts, you even spot the Lost and Found where you were as children, but nothing that might relate to finding a coal.
Inside her bubble, Chaseis very disappointed that they can't seem to find anything remotely similar to coal from up there. Her shoulders slump exaggeratedly—one might even wonder if she's truly that disappointed, since the gesture looks rather comical—and then she lets out a veeeeeeeery deep sigh.
What are they going to do? Where could they find the damned coal—or rather, the severed whatever-it-is they actually need? What if the coal isn't in the Carnival at all? Maybe they should simply focus on speaking to Witch and Light and getting them to reveal where the fey crossing is. Right. And to do that, they need to make people happy enough to be crowned!
The tabaxi glances toward the Lost and Found, remembering how sad they were there, back when they had lost Chandler and couldn't find him. What if there are lost children there now? What if they could help them? Wouldn't that lift the Carnival's spirits?
With that in mind, she waves at her friends and points toward the Lost and Found.
"What if we take a look over there? Maybe we’ll find a lost boy or girl, like what happened to us when we were little. If we do, we could help them find their parents—and maybe brighten the Carnival’s mood!"
Unless anyone has a better idea, Chase will steer her bubble toward the Lost and Found, wondering just how far from the Teapot these bubbles can go...
Scratch follows Chase's gesture, then looks back at her and shrugs. "It's not like I have a better idea," he calls back. He looks up and around. How long does this ride go on for, anyway?
As you attempt to steer the bubble you find it slightly difficult and you notice that you are continuing to rise closer and closer to the other bubbles above. Pretty soon you'll be in bubble battle with the rest of them!
(Anyone who would like to take control of their bubble please make an Acrobatics check.)
Not finding any sign of coals nor kenku, Illuwenturns his attention to the battle happening above them. It sure does look fun! Suddenly he notices Chase trying to lead them off toward another section of the park. He tries to guide his bubble in her direction, but worries it may be too late.
As you all try to control the direction of your bubbles it seems there is a current of air coming from the spout of the enormous tea pot that is blowing you directly towards the battle above and only Chase was successful. The rest of you begin to float up closer and closer to the designated Bumper Bubbles area.
Chase has achieved full control of her bubble and may float wherever she desires and pop it over any desired location.
(I will allow anyone else to make another Acrobatics check at disadvantage since you are caught in the current.)
Chasedoesn't steer her bubble away just yet, waiting instead to see what happens with Stratch, Illuwen, and Lexfirst. It's not that she's afraid of getting lost — they're not kids anymore — but it still seems better to stay close to the rest for now.
As she waits, the sorcerer wonders if she might help her friends win this particular contest by messing with the other people's bubbles...
(OOC: Could Chase use her mage hand to try popping the other bubbles, so that her friends' bubbles remain unpopped?)
Scratch looks up at the bubbles he's approaching. Well, if he's going to make the most out of this, then he will. As he nears the other bubbles, he growls, turning it into a playful, "Watch out! You're gonna get popped!"
Chaseconjures her spectral hand, trying to — surreptitiously — help her brother in his bubble fight. The first person who tries to smash her twin's bubble will find their own popped instead!
As the two of you rise to join the bubbles above the battle begins...
(There are going to be 6 total players in this game. 4 NPCs and the two of you, we will just call them NPC 1, 2, 3, and 4. Each characters bubble has 2 HP. You will DM me your target in secret then roll 5d6 trying to in an attempt to roll at least a three-of-a-kind, dealing 1 damage. After your initial roll, you have one chance to reroll any number of dice just once. If you manage to roll a five-of-a-kind then you deal 2 damage to your target instead. Anything less than a three-of-a-kind the bubbles just bounce off dealing no damage. Once per game, you can force another competitor to reroll one of their dice. The game ends when only one competitor remains in their bubble or in a draw if the last participants' bubbles pop in the same round. Any attempts to cheat will require a stealth check. If you are caught cheating there will be consequences and the carnivals mood will be affected. Any questions?)
