(Since no one has paid Jerr yet, he is not leading right now.)
Both the urchin and Jerr held no obvious weapons on their person. Although the shouting had attracted a bit of attention from the other civilians, it is quickly passed as the urchin leaves.
(Feel free to roll preemptively for skill checks. At most, I will intervene if the skill would not fit for the situation or if it would require more checks. For this case, since this is two differing people on different sides, I would need two insight checks, one for Jerr and one for the Urchin.)
(Understood!) Insight on Jerr: 18 Insight on the Urchin: 20
Valiant reaches for coin before seeing Ja pay… he takes a mental note to buy the group sweets after they’ve figured out the sinkhole.
having grown up not lacking, he had both the bad habit of experiencing his parents pay for everything in his youth, as well as in his elder years doing the same for his friends…
he wondered sometimes how anyone was able to save money… it seems so much easier….
Jerr takes the two electrum raises a brow, "Seems like you handle this little party's coin. Oh well, if you would follow me, I'll take you to Jolly's place." Jerr pockets the coin and leads you all down the street and into an alley, "Cut through here and the next street, then it should just be straight down on the left."
(For Gabriel)
On Jerr: He's eager to help for coin but setting the price so low off puts you. Even more so when he offers to guide the party as well. To leave his own stall for just one gold means that he's most likely setting you up for something.
On Urchin: He's honest, he confessed when you stopped him and on why he didn't want to go, showing he's had bad experiences with either law and/or other folk. His young mind's curiosity got the better of him and he still show signs of fear for Valiant's menacing look from before.
The urchin shakes his head, "Ain't going near that hole or city watch, it's yours Jerr." The kid walks away as the gnome, Jerr, comes around his stall. "Don't mind the kid, street rats really only look out for each other. But an enterprising business man like myself is more than capable, if would follow me lords and ladies." Jerr gives a slight bow as he holds his hand out, "I'll take that first gold then I'll show you all the way to your destination."
"Little one!" — Gabriel beckoned, in the same calm, affable tone as before, once again taking advantage of his much longer legs to easily catch up to the Urchin — "Come here, would you?"
Flashing the Urchin three bona fide gold pieces obscured by from the rest of the party by the palm of his very large hand — pieces procured from his pouch during the brouhaha of 'who's going to pay these guys?' — the large individual reached in to shake the child's hand, and surreptitiously drop the coins, but also grabbing that same hand so he couldn't get away just yet, and leaned in for a whisper:
"I'd offered you a job, and I'm a man of my word. But I need you to tell me the answer like this — just directions, no leg work, like you said. How do we get to the Jolly Lamp?"
"It was nice to meet you, kid. With all that fire in you, chances are one day we'll all be hearing your name. And I'll be looking forward to watching that happen."
(Just to pre-empt: Sleight of hand check, if needed: 15 Deception, if needed: 17)
Pushover, satisfied after learning Ja'Dul's intentions with the potion they bought, is absentmindedly just following the party quietly, letting others do the talking whilst also being more than happy to step in whenever she is required.
"...-sigh-, keep heading down till you hit a busier street then take a left. Keep going until the second street on your left then it should be down that road. It'll be next to the sunken warehouse and you'll see the city watch there." The urchin continues on his way.
As they begin to follow either of the guides, Valiant would walk in stride with Pushover for a time.
“Darling, might I ask why one as you would join this band of noble adventurers? I myself as here…”
touching his chest plate, “for the glory and honor!” He speaks in a voice attempting of self manifestation.
”but what of you? For the danger? For the loot?” trying to spy the tome cover as he speaks.
“Or perhaps, for the company?” he grins and looks at the group, eying each for a moment with a smile…
thinking to himself, ‘so this is the group they will tell stories about… I wonder what hero’s this band of misfits will become in the mouths of the bards who will one day wish they had met us at the beginning, when they were but misfits, as the seed of heroism (and profit) grew in their hearts’.
"Weird that you all want to see old Jolly. Orc ain't got much in that store of his but does know how to take care of them." Jerr says as he leads the party through the alley and to the connecting street. "Or you all might be more interested in the sinkhole that collapsed the warehouse next to his shop. Either way, I get paid." Jerr waits next to another entryway into another alley. "Hold up a moment, you're missing one of your people so I'll give them a moment to catch up."

Pushover clutches Aebelskink close to her and responds ‘Oh! Well, umm, I’m just doing this to get a bit of independence really, but also to get to meet some people in the party. That’s what my father told me to do, at least. However it’s also nice to be within an organisation with a bit of structure too! I could never be one of those freelance adventurers, planning quests and heading of on them alone! That would be far too much pressure, and I’d likely end up getting eaten by a demon before I could count to 3!’ She gives a little chuckle, holding up her hand to cover her mouth but causing her spell book to slip free from her arm, hitting the pavement with an enormous boom and sizzling into the floor. She quickly picks it up and brush it down, the pages of the book bristling in apparent anger to be clutched so close again. ‘Oh, you’re alright, calm down!’ Pushover then says in a chiding tone, seemingly talking to Aebelskink himself.
Legitimately torn between whether or not to assist these individuals he’d only just met, or follow along his Godfather whispering in his ears, telling him to see where things would lead, Gabe plucked a small, coin-shaped trinket from his pocket, and flipped it.

Catching up to the party and the Gnome easily enough, Gabriel casually responded to Jerr’s question. “We’ve some mutual acquaintances.” — before trailing off in apparent thought.
“Remind me.” — he asked the Gnome, in what didn’t entirely feel like a request — “It’s down this street a ways, then we hang a left, and then a left again, right?”
Narrowing his eyes, the towering individual approached the gnome, all but forcing the poor critter to have to crane his head all the way up.
“It’s been some time since I’ve had to think about these streets, but I’m usually good with directions.” The red-haired sorcerer smiled politely, but not with his eyes.
"I am being honest when it is cut through the alleys and street here then take a left. Old Jolly's place will be right down there. The way you're describing is just skipping this street. Which is understandable since this street has some hoodlums." He says as he points to his right and a rough looking fellow comes out the alley. Then points to his left and another comes out. Then above himself at another that aims a crossbow at your party. "But I believe you folk can handle yourself, I can't though. I'm a better talker than fighter." He backpedals down the alley. "Spare the insect one, they've got the gold!" He gives a shout as he leaves the alley, passing a figure stands in the alleyway, its luminous eyes glowing beneath a dark hood. As the hood is pulled away to reveal a skeletal face, the figure unexpectedly speaks. “Your money or your life!”
