Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, work was busy today. Basically Sharn wants to try to go around, see what happens, and see if that way connects to the end of the plate hallway. Eventually.

Based on your current location, there's a path going east that forks towards the plates (towards the fire trap) or southeast. Both paths seem to lead towards the sound of kobold voices.
Another path leads south, the direction you came from.
Another path leads west, towards another fork, leading north and south.
Which way would you like Sharn to go? Unfettered by group movement, you can move at your normal pace, unless difficult terrain, traps, or encounters slow you down.
Hrothbert_Neruca, MrUncleTio, Larskolstad Disabling (or surviving) traps grant XP. Based on encounter difficulty, you each get 7,100 XP. You can level up when you get your next long rest.
I think east, stop just before the first plate, then south, then east. Basically he wants to go around the plates hallway, he doesn't know if it finishes by the ladder or if the path loops, and I didn't want to metagame it. Ideally he'll turn back north, but who knows what destiny has in store, or the dm.
I assume 7100 is a typo and we not get to level 5.
710 xp push us up to level 3.
It is not. I told y'all that you'd be levelling up fast. Traps give insane XP, especially since XP isn't a distributed resource in the game. Your newfound glory awaits after you sleep off the pain of the day though. But don't forget, the clock is ticking on this mission.
It is not a typo. 7,100 XP. Disabling or surviving traps grants extraordinary XP. You don't get XP for running over the trap over and over again. I'd count that as more of a Downtime Activity as Training. But yes. You get 7,100 XP.
Of course, if you want me to drop it to a smaller number...
Wow, all of a sudden most of the party feels a great urge to sleep in the middle of the day. Sharn would be totally ok with this too btw. He would love to have three level 5 homies to have his back.

As far as the party knows, Kasi took the party through the safest and shortest route to the second floor. So, based on that logic, Sharn has a pretty good chance of making it to the second floor with significantly more XP than the main party.
While He do that the rest of us clear out level 2.
He will be far behind in xp ;)
Sounds like a gauntlet has been thrown. 😉
I'm curious to see if Sharn can handle what the first floor can throw at him by himself. Kobolds are excellent trap-makers and decent skirmishers. Monks have more versatility these days than they did in previous editions, and could be good at both skill encounters and mook-slaying.
I'm also curious to see if the rest of the party can handle the second floor without the presence of an honorary Hachakee. You've already had your "Fool of a Took!" moment when y'all came crashing down that ladder. So let's see how long before you hear drums... drums in the deep.
It's very cool. Also, I'm not entirely certain if you jumped past the ladder, or onto the ladder. Are you coming down the ladder, or staying on the first floor?
Also, everyone:
There's an Internet outage in my area, and it won't be back up for another 8 hours. I won't be awake by then, so I'll have to update on the morning. I need my laptop to run all my tabs and PhotoPea for maps and such. So it's worth it for me to wait.

We literally even had an old cooky sage mumbling to himself about it.
Also rolled a 16 insight for a clue on how to avoid the trap.
Probably made that whole thing unnecessarily complicated and dangerous, but you know what? Monk shit is cool.
Sera will try blind the kobolds and attack on initiative 7 ( if combat happens)

Sharn will definitely go down the ladder. He's gotta meet with his buddies.
Also, don't worry. Sucks that internet went out, but it happens. Still better than slow internet.
Look at Sharn doing the fancy Monk stuff!
